  1. MPC made a '57 Vette kit # 1-3717. I saw the kit with the white car on the box called the "Velvet Vette". It is not the same kit as the MPC flip-nose kit # 6355, the street gasser '57 Vette, black car on red box. I have never seen the AMT '57 Vette but suspect it is the same kit as the MPC #1-3717. Of course Monogram made a 1/24th scale '57 Vette, kit #s 2263 and 2924. All nice kits. Patrick M
  2. Boy do I like this '40. Classic looks plus some fine big and little wheels and tires. That paint is icing on the cake, so to speak. Good job on the motor detailing too. Nice to see the "nerf" bars bumpers used. Thanks for post and photos of my favorite early Ford. Patrick M
  3. Those ties would be perfect for hard fuel lines to a carb from the fuel pump or fuel bar on the firewall on a multi-carbed motor. Good tip and thanks. Patrick M
  4. They look perfect. They could be used for tail light housings too. Vent holes on a custom. My lady friend always said I need to look farther than the model aisle in those craft stores. And now I will. Patrick M
  5. I had wondered if using white glue on a car would work for weathering. Your build has proved that that method does work. Looks great, just like a well used old truck. Thanks for the post and the white glue method. I will try it on one of my projects now. Patrick M
  6. Unreal. And it can carry passengers. That Hemi and the jets, wasn't that a song?, would move it through the air pretty good. Mach 4 ? I would have liked to see the expressions on the faces of the aircraft guys. Nice build and lord help the ones that plane would be after. Needs some twin '50s on the hood. Patrick M
  7. That '32 Ford Sedan is so real looking i thought it was real. Don't know what camera you are using but that is "art". Superb builds and paint jobs. The total package is here--quality builds--great paint and excellent photography. Thanks for the post. I will use that '32 for my new wallpaper. Thanks. Patrick M
  8. I found a site with 160,000 drag racing photos on-line. It is called--www.wediditforlove.com I have already used the site for research. Stunning photos of drag racing from the early days to recently. Patrick M
  9. Nice build of a rare kit. Nice white paint job. Excellent job on the trim and details. Your frame--chassis is well done too. Good looking convertible. I have had one for years in the box but never did much to it but build the motor and clean the body and parts. You have inspired me to get the kit out and start to finish it. Red and white was my choice of colors but with a red body and white with red interior. I also have the original Johan '62 Plymouth Fury hardtop and want to build it too. I need to go on-line and find factory colors for paint ideas. The only real ones I ever saw were white with red interiors like your build. Thanks for the post-great clear photos and the inspiration to finish my kits. Might build the hardtop as a street-strip racer with a cross ram manifold and cheater slicks. I remember a few of them on the drag strips. Patrick M
  10. This is exactly what I would like to build. Perfect setting for your fine models. Keep up the good work and please keep us posted. Thanks for the post, Patrick M
  11. I have known for years that the banks have wanted to get rid of cash money for all transactions so they can charge a fee for all transactions involving their bank customers. But that won't happen ,yet. They constantly lobby the government to do away with cash. The SS checks will no longer be mailed after May 2013 to citizens receiving them. You will have to have a bank account to transfer the checks into. At the young -old age of 63 I have never had a credit card, and just recently a debit card I use on special occasions. My "bank" has been my front pocket and I always know how much I have. So far no one has figured out a way, except taxes, to charge me for spending my own money in cash purchases. I was going to the store mentioned last month with a coupon to buy a kit and use my debit card and I'm glad now I didn't. This is the golden age for thieves and pick-pockets, they never have to go outside anymore and mingle with the great unwashed to get the money, just stay inside and use their computer. And this plastic card use to buy things is supposed to be better for us? Not us, the banks maybe. The thieves for sure that know how to hack into systems and steal our money. The store owners because they now have a permanent record of all their sales, and the IRS for now having a record of where and when we spend our money. Good for everybody but us. Patrick M
  12. This should be in Harry P's forum--Real or Model. Stunning build. Love the color and the clean look of this bike. Excellent job. Patrick Mitchell
  13. Talk about a "pavement pounder". If that was real, standing next to this beast you would look like on of those old electric football players that vibrate all over the place. This will be wild. Keep us posted please. Patrick M
  14. I do see the spark plug wires but the front tires look like they have been sanded. I have some of those little tires that look like these. The front 12 spokes come in the AMT '56 Ford kit. The grease zerks in the front hinges could be the strait pin hinges. I think this is a model possibly of the Monogram 30 Ford coupe with body modifications. Model. Patrick M
  15. I like this car!! From the color to the slapper bars to the white interior with the roll bar to the detailed Hemi, this is fine. Nice build. Good photos too. I don't have this kit but your build makes me wish I did have one. Thanks, Patrick M
  16. I mentioned this on another post but I wanted to ask what type of camera is the best for photographing models with out spending a small fortune? How many mega-pixels, what close-up ratio and best brands? Do you use a tripod? What lighting do you use? Lots of lights plus the flash? Then what photo place to you use to post the photos here? Thank you. Patrick M
  17. I have a few of those bodies too and have plans for them as rat and hot rods but other projects keep getting in the way. Can I ask a question? What kind of cameras are you guys using? The details and close up focus on the cars is stunning. I am planing to get a camera and would like to get one that takes photos like those. Thank you. Patrick M
  18. Of course I meant to say Show not shoe. Sorry about that. I hunt and peck type and sometimes make some bad mistakes. I won't blame that mistake on my dyslexia but I could, just wrong typing. Couldn't find a place to change the word. Thank you for the understanding. Patrick Mitchell
  19. The latest Desert Scale Classic show and contest was held this last Sat the 16th in Phx AZ. I attended and entered several models and won a 3rd place in the Diorama class. I am so happy that I won as there were several large Dioramas entered with stunning details and construction. My friend Brad Norgaard won second place. My entry was picked by the magazine to be photographed by Darryl. Hope to see it in the magazine some day. There were so many great models there it took hours to see and examine them all. The host club-- The Cactus Car Modelers with the help of the Moonlight Modelers club put on a fine, excellent, well ran show, like always. I thank them all for the best show I have been to, since the last one. It was sad to hear that Darryl Gassaway will retire from the traveling to the show and not be there to take photographs for the magazine. With your spare time now, can we expect to see more of your fine builds in the magazine? The clubs and the modelers will miss him. Thank you Darryl for the many years you were here. After the show most of the members and friends went to Hals house after the show for a back yard Bar-B-Que and club meeting with a club members contest. Thank you Hal, from Speedworld in Surprise AZ, for the hospitality and food. Dan Baker was the cook and he was very busy next to that hot grill. Thank you Dan. You cook as good as you build models. But the flame decals on the buns was a bit much. LOL I can't wait till next year, the show will be in April again on Sat the 21st. If you are in the Phx area then please stop by at the Postal Workers Social Hall at 35th Ave and Greenway and check out the models and the many friendly venders, spent money there myself, and the fellowship of brothers in building models. All spectators are free. There is also a Make and Take for the kids. This years model was a snap '57 Chevy and I saw several fine builds the kids did. Most of the kids didn't put the models down but carried them with them all day. Thank you Model Car Magazine for all the help and promotion of this great show. I am already planning my entries for next year. Now to build them. Patrick Mitchell
  20. This could be an older MPC kit of a Cuda drag racer. I have the street machine version of this kit--#1-0807 made by Fundimensions 1980 and it is the same color blue plastic. The windshield in my street machine kit is a dark color, almost a black tint. The Hemi motor has a blower and injector hat all in chrome. It had the stock interior and frame. Hope this helps. Patrick Mitchell
  21. I found one of these kits decades ago in a long gone drug store in Cornville AZ. I think I still have it and I always wanted to build a small dio with it and a AMT T truck next to it with tools in the back. Or a nice Monogram early Mack truck. Nice job Harry. Ken Hamilton would be proud. Patrick Mitchell
  22. That is so perfect. I can't wait to see it with cars and parts in it and around it. I wish I had the room for something like that. Thanks for the post. Patrick M
  23. I have a question for you. I always wonder where those green cutting mats come from. I see them on several posts under the builds and they look like something that works for building and cutting plastic on. Thank you. Patrick M
  24. Boy do I like this. To bad you can't make molds of the trailer parts and make resin copies. Those huge headlights were Fords' and Detroit's attempt to help farmers and drivers see on those dark farm roads before dual headlights came in in '58. I always liked the old large single lights on those fat fendered trucks and cars. Gave them a "face". I will be watching this build. Patrick M
