  3. Here in Germany you have to teach people how to drive an automatic car. 90% of all people here tend to use their left foot for braking when they sit in an automatic car for the first time. And if the foot (that is used to hammer down the clutch pedal) gets in contact with the brake pedal...well...ever seen an unexpecting face smash into a steering wheel?

Scale is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/35, I think. Most impressive small figure I´ve ever seen. The detail is mindblowing.

  7. @Jim: Well, I´ve had this other cab and I´m pretty sure it was AITM who produced it. I got the cab 2nd hand and the guy who originally bought it mentioned that it was indeed not offered online. Just as Clayton said. The cab looked exactly like the cab that is shown on Ben Wicker´s fotki album. I´ve just searched for the resin cab and that´s the only picture I´ve found: http://public.fotki.com/lotso/ford-wt9000/64025906.html @Sean: The Kenworth chassis was what I had in my stash when I started the build. It has the wrong suspension in the rear. As far as I know the closest thing in terms of frame rail shape and crossmember shape would be a Ford L-Series frame. But I don´t know how much work would be involved to make a conversion with such a frame as they are not COE´s. The guy from Australia (from where I´ve got the cab that I´m actually using) said the GMC Astro or Chevy Titan would be good as a donor kit.
  8. Thanks Shaun Sounds like you have the AITM resin cab. That´s the only other source for the WT9000 cab. Or at least the only one that I´m aware of. I also believe that JBOT´s decals for the Blue Mule were made to fit the AITM cab. So it would be a lot easier with the decals for you if you wanted to build the Blue Mule. I´m using AMT´s Kenworth K-123 frame for my conversion. I´ve scratchbuilt the rear crossmember and covered the others with tread plates to give the illusion of a Ford frame. There are also some other aftermarket goodies involved in this build. I´ll add a build log and put it in the showroom as soon as it´s finished. Best regards, Kevin
  9. Very nice job on the trailer, Jim. I´m using a resin cab from Aussie Resin Models. Are they out of business? Can´t find the site where I ordered the cab... The decals for the Blue Mule were a nightmare to work with. They are as transparent as the light bar of a Police car. The look good on a white surface, but overlapping is a NO-GO!!! I´ve had to perform some serious cutting with my scalpel when the decals were still wet on the cab. It was the most insane freakjob challenge I have ever encountered in my whole scale modeling life. Also the decals didn´t fit to the cab that I´m using. I had to start applying the decals around the grille and then go ahead and align everything else from there on. I ended up with not having enough room left for the white area on the lower cab sides and the back. But in the end I´m just happy that I didn´t shoot myself while getting the decals done. It took me countless hours, my pulse was 180 and I was sweating like a steelworker. There are about 30 decals on the sheet, but what you see in the following pics was made from about 60-65 pieces due to the cutting. I also had two decal sheets to work with. And I needed the second sheet for all the bits and pieces that had to be cut separately. It would have been 100% impossible to finish the cab that I´m using with only one decal sheet. This was really not funny at all. But I´m happy with the result so far. Still need to do some minor touch-ups with a fine brush and some hand mixed paint here and there. You might want to take that decal issue into consideration when you finally get a cab and start working on your own Blue Mule. My "A" was kicked by the BLUE MULE for sure!!

  14. I have an unfinished build of the Silver Bullet sitting in the box for about ten years. This was the last thing I was working on before I had a three-year break from scale modeling. When I got back into modeling, I had totally lost interest in finishing it. This will probably never get finished. Back then I´ve read an article in a German US car magazine and used it as a reference. I heated and stretched the rear fenders and removed the chrome trim from the wheel arches all around. Skills and standards have improved during the last years and I´d need to do some refinements on the rear fenders to please the rivet counter that I eventually became...LOL.!! I wasn´t that experienced with putty back then and there´s still a bit of work needed to really get it right. But I´d rather start a new build instead of reworking this model. Maybe someday in the unknown future. If I had known earlier that you needed a replacement body, I would´ve been in for a trade. However...here´s some fresh pics of my rejected model. I used NASCAR tires in the back as they look pretty nice and "meaty" for this car. The cross-ram is from AMT´s ´69 GTX and the carbs were from...I think...Bob Glidden´s Thunderbird dragster. Headers and mufflers came from Revell´s ´68 Charger. I used Tamiya chrome silver for the body. It was the paint from the glass jars, thinned down and then airbrushed. Well, maybe the pics are an inspiration for you to get back to your build of this awesome MOPAR!! Cheers, Kevin

  18. Hi there Has anyone ever had his bumper/grille-units rechromed after photo-etched grilles have been added? I´d like to send some stuff to Chrome-Tec USA and I´m curious to know about the possibilities. Alclad works fine. Does replating work aswell? Best regards
  19. I let my freshly painted bodies rest upside down as soon as the painting is done. I tape a bent clothes hanger to the inside of the body. While painting the wire acts as a grip, after painting the wire acts as a hanger. This method has minimized dust specks to almost zero on my builds.
  20. You will have a hard time finding a set of rims that will fit the big tires of the Fall Guy kit. The rims included in that kit are eight lugs. The rims in the Bronco kit are way too small to fit the big tires. I have a Fall Guy truck in progress and I didn´t like how the rims sat in the tires. Looked like toy wheels. I modified the the lip on the rims to make them sit in the tire properly. That improved the whole thing a lot. Left wheel is modified, right wheel is not. And a little mock up teaser... I recomment to just modify the rims from the Fall Guy kit. Makes a big difference. The pics don´t really do it justice.

  22. It is happening to me right now. I´m into movie cars but have found my appreciation for stock vehicles through the "I am Legend" Shelby and the "Drive Angry" Chevelle. The Shelby is already done and was added to the under glass section some time ago: The Chevelle isn´t done yet. It´s got to be a ´71 and I´ll have to scratchbuild the grille. BTW...it´s AMT´s ´72 Chevelle on a shortened AMT ´70 Monte Carlo chassis. Fit is nice and super-tight in case someone is interested in superdetailing one of AMT´s ´70 or ´72 Chevelles. The cut on the floorpan is easily hidden by the transmission support bar. Some more impressions from the earlier stages: However...some other bone stock builds have been added to the to-do-list. This way I can have my customizing fun with movie cars and please the rivet-counter that is inside of me with them stock builds.
  23. I have both movies on bluray, an unfinished Cage Eleanor and the Halicki Eleanor waiting on the shelf. Scaleproduction transkit on an AMT ´67 GT350 chassis. Painted with Tamiya spray cans: white primer, gloss black, light gun metal and clear.

  25. LOL!! I´m already far beyond 10 hours of sanding and wetsanding the Charger. It´s not only getting the fenders done. The whole body needs block sanding and re-doing the panel lines. And on a Charger body with all the contours on the sides...that´s quite a task. Well...maybe it´s just me. I´m a freak when it comes to preparing bodies for paint and it takes me forever to make progress. And it´s getting worse with every new kit as I always tend to raise the bar a little bit more. If the deadline for this CBP would be one year later, I´d totally join with the Charger and my "Monster Carlo" from Tokyo Drift. Both are still in some kind of a mock-up-stage and there is still a ton of work to be shown on both builds.
