I Picked up this kit because I am a big fan of muscle cars. I've almost completed the engine. I'm happy with everything so far except the colour of the intake manifold. I thought it would look better. Anyway here's where I am.
I use the Testors brand for most parts and Tamiya primer and lacquer for the paint. I am curious as to how you prep your body work. I usually sand the body with some 1200 grit sand paper, then prime and paint. I get a smooth finish, but never that mirror glossy finish. And I have tried to sand the primer with 2000 grit and it still wears away the primer.
This is one of my first builds. I wanted to achieve both a drag car look and a car one might cruise down the streets in the 70s with. I did not include the hood scoop, because I like part of the engine revealed.
This is one of my first builds. I chose it because of the lowrider theme. I think the kit was decent, except for the decals. But nonetheless here are some pics.
I tried removing some lacquer paint from an old body project of mine. I used DOT4 brake fluid, with 50% success. There is still a lot of excess paint regardless of how hard I scrub. Any other suggestions? Also what could I use to remove Testors enamel?
I use Tamiya primer and colours. I think they are great, however, I think they are still a little pricey for the quantity. Are there any other brands that are good with the Tamiya primer such as Krylon? I am in Canada, so my option may be limited.
