Hey Gilusions-- Nice job on the van I just got these pictures down loaded from the car show this past weekend. This is a 1960 VW that has been shortened just a wee bit It's also been tubbed with wheelie bars on the back. A gentleman told me that this van is difficult to drive due to the short wheelbase (go figure). Do you think you would like to try and build this in scale ?? By the way, my kids loved this one the best STEVE

That turned out really nice I like the engine detail that you added STEVE -
Looks sharp.... what color are you using on the body ?? I'd like to see more pics when you get them.... STEVE

Mike... To answer your first question, I would have to say "YES" to both of them Like I had stated in the beginning, my inspiration had come from the Horsepower TV show which is clean and not cluttered (which makes it easier to find things) By all means, you do very good work with A LOT of detail in your diorama. But, this was also my first attempt and going for the "clean not cluttered" look, which I believe I achieved. I can also put just about any type of car in the garage and it would fit (except a dusenberg) Thanks for the comments.... STEVE

Here is a sneek peek at my '68 Road Runner that is painted with Dupli-color Charcoal Gray Metallic.... STEVE

I picked up the silver base color and the candy tangerine top coat in the automotive section at Wal-Mart. The paint is called "Shimrins" which is made by "House of Kolor". It's been easy to work with. I also put this paint over Wal-Marts $.95 cent black primer.... Thanks for the comments STEVE

Here is the body after I painted it Candy Tangerine. I hope you like it, I will post more pics as I get further along. Thanks for looking STEVE

Hey bub- It looks like you might have to build your wife some more models when "JR" changes cars and possibly a new number next season Have fun STEVE

The kit is Revell '70 Plymouth Road Runner. The box has a reddish-orange Road Runner on the cover with some clouds in the background. I picked it up about a year ago at a Local Hobby Shop. I should be downloading some pics of the painted body this next week, so I will post some more pics.... until then 8) STEVE

Here is one of the several MoPars that I am currently working on.... This one is the '70 Road Runner that just got the body painted Candy Tangerine by Shimrins (made by House of Color) that I picked up at Wally World. The top of the fenders and the hood are going to remain "blacked-out" and I am adding the rear wing from my '70 Buick GSX kit. The rims and tires are from the '67 Chevelle Wagon kit. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome STEVE

That sounds pretty interesting, I'd like to see some pictures of that one STEVE

Here is one that I bought already put together OOB (not painted or anything) and I was able to pop off the chrome pieces to paint the body. The body is painted with white primer with 3 coats of Testor's Pearl Gloss coat. The interior tub is light gray with white seats. The rims, tires and hood scoop are from my parts box and the front axle is from a '40 ford coupe kit. Since this was the flip-nose version, I glued and filled the seams on the fenders only, leaving a small gap between the hood and the body. The "Thumper" decals came from the '69 firebird kit and help cover the seams that I filled on the fenders. I hope you like the pics and all comments are welcome Thank-you STEVE

WOW Now that is ATTENTION TO DETAIL :!: :!: :!: I really like how the whole car looks. Do you have any pics of the chassis :?: How long did it take you to finish the whole car, especially with all the tiny little intricate details ?? Great Job STEVE

I'm still relatively new here and haven't been able to read every post here, so I don't know if this has been posted before, but anyway... After watching my wife put urethane on wood that was stained, she would take a plain brown paper bag, used for lunches, and rub down the urethane after it was dry to get rid of the little bubbles. Well, after picking up a 5 oz. can of Dupli-color "Charcoal Gray Metallic" and shooting my '68 Road Runner with it, I noticed that it had a rough texture on it when I ran my finger along the side. I saw a brown paper bag near my model stuff and decided to try and rubb off the rough stuff on my model. Well, I have to say that the results were quite impressive It took enough of the rough texture off of the model so when I put the clear coat on, it will be much easier to polish out. The nice thing about it was... it did NOT leave any sanding marks on the paint, and it only took me a few minutes to rub the whole model "smoother". I hope this will help some of the modelers that paint with "Metallic" paints. STEVE

That is really sharp looking, and I really like the color you picked for the car

Thanks for the comments, I'm thinking about making another diorama in the near future. I am planning on making a dealership or museum for my muscle cars, mostly MoPar and Chevy's of the 60's and early 70's. I just don't know which way to go with it yet.... I'd like to put about 7-8 cars in this diorama with some space to have figure's looking at them. STEVE

The Summit decals are from the Summit Pro Stock Firebird kit that never made it to the car. The Goodwrench decals came from the Superman Pro Stock Firebird kit that, again, never made it to the car. STEVE

Thanks j_ The nice thing about it not being so cluttered is that I can change the cars and move things around to give it a different look. I can always add more "stuff" when I want. On some of the garages, I could spend at least an hour looking at all of the tiniest details and then notice the car that's there. Thanks for the comments.... STEVE

This is a "clean" garage that I finished awhile back. It's pretty basic compared to some of the stuff I have seen on this forum. The pictures came out of car magazines and 3m spray glued onto the walls. The "girl" posters are from Stuff and Maxim Magazines. The floor is based on the TV show Horsepower TV and that's why it is soooo clean The corner wrap around bench and the table came from a snap-together Semi-trailer. All comments (good and constuctive) are welcome. Enjoy the pics....

Here is one that is in my showcase at home. It's the '70's Van and the '55 Chevy Top Sportsman which are both painted Blue Metalflake and I took the back half of the Van's flames and put them on the car. The trailer is the stock car trailer with decals from other models and the rims are from my parts box. I hope you like the pictures, and all comments (good or constuctive) are welcome....
