Welcome to the forum... I think you will like it here. Your car looks pretty good with the Yenko decals on there, and I have to agree with you about the kit not being so good. I built one of these quite a few years ago and remember having problems with it. I have another one in the basement that I have been contemplating on for several years now... Looking forward to seeing more of your builds. STEVE

I, too, use a lot of metallic paints. But for me, I use the Wal-Mart $.95 primer paints in light grey and flat black. I like using Dupli-Color paints from my local Automotive store, seems they have a better selection than my local hobby store (LHS). Also, the Dupli-Color paints don't "run" as easy as the Testor's paints do (in my opinion). If you want to see how your paint will look with different primer's or different color's of primers, you can use the spoon trick. Whereas, you get several plastic spoons, primer them, then shoot your color over the primer. You don't use much paint with this, and you won't have to "strip" your model if it doesn't turn out the way you like. Hope this helps and welcome back to the hobby STEVE

My version of Millen's 2004 drift car

That's a sharp looking car ya got there Nice detail work. STEVE -
OHHHHH... my bad That looks more like something that we see at our local racetrack on Friday nites.... I guess you don't need to scribe door lines on that one then, huh ?? STEVE

I have to agree with harrypri, I put a blown motor in one of my stock cars a few years ago and reomoved most of the roll-cage and added the passenger seat to make it look more "street", but I didn't scribe door lines on my stock car. So, it still looks like a stock car with a blower scoop coming out of the hood STEVE

"You can insert acronyms, although I can't comprehend why someone would use code to type out "Laugh Out Load" to make it appear as LOL, instead of just typing LOL. But, you could do it if you wanted to! There are now 19 different fonts to use! And 40 different colors! And, as you can tell, you now have the capability to add lists to your posts! There is also a spell checker but it needs to be downloaded to your hard drive, something I’m not fond of." Gregg... spel cheker iz ok, but proof reading is better LOL is Laugh Out LOUD and not Load. Spell checker would not have helped in this situation since "Load" is also a word, whereas, proof reading would have. I, too, don't use spell checker very often unless I am trying to use some big words to make it appear that I'm smarter than I really am Have a great day, and I'm sure I will get use to this new format eventually STEVE

Are there going to be "tutorials" on how to use this new set-up for the computer challenged I think having your own photo album right here on site would be a lot easier than minimizing this screen to bring up another screen etc.... STEVE

Johnny... From my experience and with several people that I have been in contact with on this forum thru PM's, the other forum (SA) has several individuals in each forum that are their own self-appointed.. . Anyway, I have had people tell me that my model was not technically the 'right' color, but what they don't understand is... I'm color blind and can not see the different shades of color, and I didn't have an airbrush to go get the correct color from the local auto store, or that I didn't have enough money to dish out to get the correct color. What I am trying to say is.... this forum is more RESPECTFUL to the other modelers and give more POSITIVE feedback, rather than NEGATIVE comments and feedback. I still go to that other forum to see what has been built (some of which I have already seen here), but I typically do not post anything on the other forum, just because of the self-appointed @#$%^ This is just one man's opinion and does not refleck the opinions of the other modeler's that I have spoken to. Just my $.02 worth STEVE

I just posted this in the "Ask G&J" section, but since everyone is talking about this here, I thought I would re-type it here.... I, too, miss the old look of the forums, the main thing I miss is the "check" marks that let you know of new topics or new reply's. Being color-blind, I have a hard time distinguishing between the colors of the "suitecases" that are next to the topics, and they don't tell me if someone new has posted a "new" reply to a topic that I'm following. Whereas, on the old page, I would look for a "check-mark" and go right to that topic I was watching to see what some of the comments or updates have been posted. I too am basically computer illiterate when it comes to changes in the computer world, especially when you become accustomed to something and then it up and changes on you. The main reason that I switched from the "other" forum was because the people here are a lot more respectful of your models, I don't see hardly any negative feedback, cut-downs, or nit-picking the small little details. Everyone builds there models the way they envision them, and the people here seem to respect that more on this forum. STEVE

The Board logo's dead
scubadiver411 replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I logged on the other day, I was surprised to see the page looked TOTALLY different The first thing I noticed was the missing "check" marks for new posts or reply's. Now there are colored suitecases next to the topics. Being color-blind, I miss the check marks, is there anyway to get the check marks back ?? or some other way to let me know of new posts or reply's to new posts ?? STEVE -

Thanks for the comments.... My wife liked the Testor's Saphire Blue Metalflake until I painted one of my models with plasti-kote Competition Colors #311 blue metal flake which is a little darker than the Saphire Blue. I believe this is a Laquer Base paint, because it stunck up the house when I painted her car (the last time I was ALLOWED to paint in the house). The interior of the car is white primer, blue sharpie marker, and a pearl glosscoat over that. STEVE

I know what you mean, I picked up a make-up kit that has a large and small brush that I use to dust off my models before a show. The small brush comes in really handy for the tight spots. Also an eye-shadow applicater (whatever they are called) and I use that for my BMF to burnish it down. My wife thought I was crazy for getting it, until I told her it was for my models... STEVE

Here's one that I re-finished. It was a baby blue with the decals pealed off of the side, so I stripped it and painted it purple over a blick primer. I hope you like it, all comments are welcome

Here is one that I did for my wife, it's the Thom Taylor '34 Ford Cabriolet Street Rod Kit. The tires/rims and the trailer are from the Prowler kit. The engine is a Revell-Monogram Parts Pak Ford 427 with the air cleaner from my spare parts bin. It's 99% finished because I still need to put spark plug wires on the engine and put a drive-shaft in. Here is the picture missing the drive shaft, but check out how nicely the 427 Ford exhaust fits between the frame and the fenders... Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome.... STEVE
