Porsche 918 Spyder - Martini Model?
brandolsx replied to brandolsx's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Any word in the community if this build will happen? I am keeping my hopes up! -
Excellent Build! I love Porsches and really like what you did with this. I hope to see some more builds from you, especially if they are Porsches!
-
Looks like the link works now but I only see one porsche! I wanted a parade of porsche's! Teaser
-
Thanks for the info! Did you make a build thread on here? I would love to take a look at it for tips! Yeah mine looks much better than that 129/300 but still have some work to do. I'll let you know how the fitment works with the Tamiya donor kit. Hope he got the size issues figured out with this new casting material. Looking good though! I really wanted the 964 kit but he doesn't have anymore of them. I hope he strikes them again!

Yes! I plan on going with that signal green color scheme. I was thinking about the matte black but I like the green better! Love it! Yes these kits are not cheap by any means! I just saw he came out with a new audi kit today and it was $150 not including shipping! Ouch!

They include the green material as seat belts as well as some mesh for intake areas on the bumpers. Two sets of deep well wheels to chose from along with seats. I am very excited for this kit. Keep you guys updated soon.

There is a decent amount of casting flash on the body and wheels. Will have to take the time to clean it up nice. I think this is standard with these resin style kits.

This is the kit I am most excited about. I am going to be very detailed and take my time here. I am still pretty new to modeling but I have grown a lot already I feel. I am starting work on the 993 Rauh Welt Porsche kit. This kit is used with the Tamiya 911 GT2 Road Car kit as a donor kit. These kits are by a company called C1 Models out of the UK. Chris runs the place and is very helpful. This is one of my favorite cars of all time. Following photos you will see some photos of the real car and the unboxing.

Thanks for the help Erik, Yeah I did use Micro set on this one, but for some reason it was really raised. I took them off now. I have an email into a company that has an alps printer. Hopefully they will get back to me. Hopefully someone will chime in on here that has one and would be willing to give me a hand. -

Here is a set of decals to give you a better example of what is supposed to be here. Obviously not all the decals and not gold. It is a very sliver looking color on the grand sport and door stripes. The IROC-Z logo is more of a grey. -
Hey everyone, I am working on making a model replica of the car I own. I am a bit new to modeling still and learning a lot. The problem with my car is that there is grey/silver decals on the car. When I use printer decal paper there are two problems. Grey/Silver won't be printed because the printer uses black to make grey, so the decal is basically a clear black and is barley visible. Also there are multiple lines to the "IROC-Z" logo, so when I cut a decal out around the edges you get a raised square. I'm not as worried about the raised square as getting the color to work. When putting a clear over the decals I might be able to buff out the decal lip. I am wondering if there is anybody out there that may have some insight on where or who to go to, to get some help. I have seen some pretty good custom decals on this forum. Details: The IROC-Z decal size (At 1/24 scale) comes out to be 1" wide by .15" tall. The grey and black strip which is to be across the bottom is about 4 strips .07" tall. I also have a corvette grand sport fender decal on my car. Alternating Black and Silver to follow the theme of the car. My Car: What I have so far: As you can see it is very hard to see the IROC-Z Logo and the black/silver stripes on the bottom. I am not happy with it. Closer up to the Black/Silver Stripes: Close up to the "IROC-Z" decal, almost invisible:

My '68 Ford Mustang Tasca Cobra Jet

Man I am surpirsed at the lack of comments on this thing. This is one of the nicest done jobs I have seen on this forum. Love the build dude. -
Thanks man! Yeah that cover is so terrible. I had second thoughts on buying the kit because of that cover. Thanks for the chrome stripper tip. I am going to do that in the future. I like the way painted parts look rather than straight up chrome everything unless its like exhaust tips or so.
-
Thanks A lot Guys! I really like this car. I used Testors Lacquer Paint. The color code is 1849 Graphite Dust. I love this color a lot. I want to build all my cars in this color!
-
So I just recently completed my forth model. I am learning a few things along the way. This kit was pretty decent. I did't like that almost the entire engine was molded chrome. If I could do it again I would have stripped the chrome off and painted a few more parts. Oh well, what's done is done. I love the paint color on this thing. The car on the box makes the model look like a terrible one. Enjoy:
