  1. This is the progress I've made so far.. There are certain items that have givin me some troubles. The chrome finish looked nice on the "trees" but after installation and some weathering I've noticed it has worn through in two spots :/ The alignment of the hood has been tough too(I accidentally broke a support)! Anyways still a bunch more to do..
  2. Thanks for the info Sgt! Your race trailer is fantastic as well..
  3. Has anyone built a modern Nascar transporter? As I was working the last few days, driving up and down the Florida Turnpike between West Palm Beach to Miami to Key West I got to see some amazing looking rigs transporting the race cars for the Homestead Nascar event this weekend. The most impressive trailers were pulled by some "nasty" Lonestars. If any of ya fellas have built a replica I'd like to see it!! If the graphics are available in scale one of these beauties might have to be on my build list!
  4. Thanks for the tip! I'll get some outdoor pictures when it's all finished.. I have quite a bit more to go(finish assembly, decals, weathering to include dirt and rust).
  5. Just some progress..originally I was thinking a two tone red with gunmetal but now I'm leaning towards all gun metal? I'm also working on real fabric for the interior.. Floor at least maybe door panels too.
  6. These are a few pictures of my progress so far.. I'm doing my own version of the RoG Bill Signs Trucking Peterbilt 359. I am going for the used/worn in look when finished. The colors will be Tamiya gun metal fenders, roof and frame with the rest of the cab being Tamiya Italian red. Sorry for the picture quality as I'm a rookie photographer and model builder! All comments welcome
  7. Good evening all.. I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed, but has anyone built a Kenworth T800 with the wide hood/large cooling system option? Is there a resin conversion kit out there for this specific truck? I would really enjoy seeing some pictures if anyone has built this "beast"! Thanks in advance.. -Darren
  8. Wow it's been about 15yrs since I've seen that first style Holden trailer.. I spent six years pulling that around with MK48 power unit. I think it was called the M870A2? I just thought some "magic elfs" made it, I didn't realize it was a commercially made unit available to civilians!
  9. Thanks again for the "welcomes" boys! Also SEMPER FI Kilrathy(if that is your real name;) always good running into a MARINE in person or virtually!
  10. Nice looking truck! 3 axles over 2 anytime in my book!!
  11. Thanks guys for the introductions! I am probably leaning towards doing my own spin on things for the Bill Signs Peterbilt kit I am expecting in the mail. Like choosing different colors and decals(which I've read are out there I just can't locate them on the web?) all suggestions more then welcome! Alittle background on me..My driving trucks started 20 years ago in the United States Marine Corps. My marine occupational specialty(MOS) was 3533. This is above and beyond the standard "motor t" rating, as this MOS is an LVS( logistics vehicle systems) operator which is basically an all terrain tractor trailer that consists of a power unit with various detachable "modules" depending on the mission. I encourage all members to do a google search on this vehicle, it's a pretty amazing rig! I know I'm putting the cart before the horse, but I have been searching for a modern "lowboy" kit. I don't think my modeling skills are up to task to scratch build some of these trailers I've seen on this site! Do any of these scratch builders offer instructions or full kits for sale? Or is there a kit from a manufacture out there that I couldn't find info about?
  12. True work of art! Fantastic job with the engine detail..
  13. I bought the Revell "Bill Signs" Peterbilt. Since this is my main interest I wanted to do a heavy haul tractor. I was looking something with a lift third axle, set back front axle, day cab, float front tires, bang board, etc..Since I couldn't find something with these options(I had no idea about all the after market custom parts available) The Bill Signs unit looked pretty tricked out! I'm still undecided wether to do a 1:1 or customizing it?
  14. Hey y'all my name is Darren and I'm a new member from South Florida. I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this intro, if not my apologies in advance! I am currently waiting my first ever truck model kit in the mail. My builds in the past have mostly been 1:12 motorcycles and various military kits. I am a heavy haul driver(which will be my focus for now in scale models) for a crane rental company, but I never put two and two together and realized there was such an awesome community that builds big rigs. I look forward to getting to know this forums members and picking up tips/advice on future builds! Some amazing build on this site fellas..
  15. Absolutely fantastic build! I have the Bill Signs kit coming in the mail and I plan to use your photos as a reference...
