Regarding the color, the kit was molded in pink however I did paint it a different shade. I am certain that the paint "failure" is due to whatever it was that I used for clear coat. The Fire Bird I mentioned also has the same ailment of the paint (it is a GM off-white ) and it really has that "It's only original once" feel about it. These have not been in direct sunlight so it is a paint thing I suppose. I do have others that are just as old and don't have this issue, i.e. my avatar.

Thanks! This has always been one of my favorites.... and yes gravity and light are taking their toll. ( on me and the car), both quarter glass, both visors, and rear view mirror fell off "recently" and prompted further repairs. That's when I saw how faded the car had become. The Fire Bird that shades the quarter has really lost it's clean white color yet remains shiny. The Fire Bird is probably older but has less BMF so I might repaint it (the caddy fades as is..so sorry) however I am thinking about letting patina take it's toll on all my builds. adds character....

I post this only as a retrospective of our hobby. Normally I just browse the eye candy so many talented individuals contribute and that is wonderful for me. I only sometimes post what I build as I only build for myself anymore anyway. However as I was tending the fields with super glue tweezers and a toothpick I noticed what had happened to my Eldorado in the last say 25+ years since I built it. I thought "Hey...What happened?"..... Yes indeed what happened... I built this before my oldest daughter was born, and next month she finishes the last stage of medical school(s). This car was bright pink and shiny when I built it This hobby is a lifetime labor of love as it were (or maybe a terminal illness) but it never gets old. Please try to see the last bits of "Elvis Caddy" pink left on left quarter panel and some of the seats. Enjoy and keep building!! ... Yes Harry it has mirrors!!

So do tell how you actually feel about it. Any pictures from under hood? May have options as kit bashing. I think it came out ok for a poor quality kit, don't you hate how you can't bring yourself to trash something even though you should? I have done it often.. I've gotten this far..must...finish...it...I ....must..

Very nice! I like the vinyl top, I must try it!!

I worked on it off and on since last July, took about a month of purple pond then brake fluid to get old paint off...what ever it was it sure had staying power. I should have gotten some before pictures but didn't, here is one after a month in the soup.

This was an E-Bay glue bomb that had been painted "kinda orangish" and robbed of it's engine. I "Plum Crazied" it and bashed the Hemi from 68 Road Runner into it. I also de-chromed and painted the cop wheels. Hope you like it.

Lets See Your Replicas of Yours/Your Families Cars
gluebum replied to Platerpants's topic in Model Cars
These are two that I have pictures of the replicas handy. Sorry 1:1 pics long gone. Road Runner is about a 20+ year old build but still holding in there. the Supra was built last year. My Road Runner was actually a 69 and lacked the hemi but this was close enough. Correct colors etc. -
Very cool looking show car!! Wheels look ok to me but I am thinking ...shaved door handles..oh yeah!

Very nice!

I hope to take pictures outside this weekend, this time of year I'm rarely home when it's light out.

How did you melt yours?
gluebum replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tried to remove a slight warp on a Mini Cooper with warm water, wasn't warm enough the first time so I went right to hot...OOPS!! "MINI" Cooper!!! I guess I can use the rest of the kit for parts now. -
Very Cool!! It would be a "RUSH" to see this one done in red!

That is a Nice build! The whole build is great but THOSE WHEELS!! Got to love them! Too cool!

Yeah I know the lighting isn't great, this is where I usually take my pictures but probably not the best choice for a black car. I'll work on changing up the pictures. I was happy with the results of my black paint experience and the side view with this background doesn't make this car easy to see. Worked better with a White car!

Ok I really don't talk like that but it sounded good. I have been a stalker of this site for a long time. The forums have some of the best tips and tricks around. I also like looking at the completed works and ongoing projects. There are a lot of amazing builds on here and I enjoy looking at them all!! Always try to improve and never (almost) look back!

I built this to clone the Supra I had in '82, I also haven't seen an '82 on here so I thought I could help out. This is a 1/25 1983 ARII curbside kit. Not bad and the functional sunroof is fun. I did find the decals were very poor (material-wise) but I will allow this could be due to age. The Vanity plate is my fault as I had the same on my 1:1. I'm trying for better pictures, black is too shiny for my flash (Black lacquer over Tamiya primer, I chose not to clear this one as I got away without orange peal on the black then I got scared) and a photographer I'm not.
