  1. Over 900 models were on display.  Nice to see Leonard, Dave, Matt and Norman make the trip down from Maryland.  I wish I had more time to find more MCM members but the time went by very quickly.   It was a very well run event and a lot of vendors selling paints, kits, decals, tools and everything else model related.  Here is just a sample of the high level of quality of models at the show.

Love GT40's. I bought the Thunder Valley kit 25 years ago but was always intimidated to start it. It is finally now on my build list for 2024. As much as I am a fan of the Gulf livery I plan to build the Canadian Comstock Team GT40.

I packed my Thunder Valley GT40 for the ACME show so I’ll post some pictures by Sunday.

Period images, or current?   I doubt anyone would put whitewalls on one now, but when new, E70-14 whitewalls were standard, even on Mach 1s.  Wider RWL tyres were optional.

Only the purists these days are going to put bias ply white wall tires on a Mach1 but they were pretty common when they were new as most came with the 14x6 inch steel wheels with trim rings and hubcaps.  You see many 71-72 Mach1’s with Magnum 500’s, front and rear spoilers and side stripes that were added on later.

I know it's jumping the gun, and there's a ways to go, but I really REALLY hope the educated speculation on a Gone in 60 Seconds version does come to fruition.

I’m sure you are not the only one.  Although Revell seems to stick to just including what is needed to build a specific model (i.e. Eleanor) I hope the include some 73 Mach1 decals and perhaps stock 351C valve covers so modelers can make a replica of one too.  If not Keith Marks and Rays kits make the decals (in black and silver).

I thought about that myself, but decided that making the decal lie down around the scoops would probably be a nightmare.

I bought some matte black striping tape and I am going to give that a shot when I get around to mine.

Somehow I have in my decal spares seven silver and four black hood full decals from the old MPC kit and Fred Cady sheets.  I’ve never tried to used them as I assume it would not lay flat no matter how much decal set was used.

  6. I started on this a few months ago and finally finished it last night. It is “out of the box” with just some extra painting.  I have seen some amazing build already and other threads have covered just about every pro and con (very few) of the kit.  I did have to use superglue and epoxy and a rubber band to make sure the chassis and front valence would stay glued to the body.  The next one I build I will test fit more to see if there are creative ways to make the final assembly easier.  As others have mentioned the decals are very thin but thankfully there was an extra BOSS 351 decal for the front fender that can in handy.  I ended up painting the hood versus using the while decal and just used the thin outline stripe - same for the line just above the black that I painted along the bottom of the car.  This kit deserves the skill rating as I think back to the AMT and MPC 71-73 kits and how simplistic they are in comparison.  Since the kit has two full sets of the body decals (silver and black) if you buy two kits you essentially get two sets of decals in case there’s a mishap.  I cannot wait to see the 007 Mach1 version in person and I’m sure some others will get one built before I do.  My final thought are take your time and enjoy this kit - it was won’t the wait.

PS - don’t tell anyone the color is a GM Duplicolor spray can I had in my stash but it seemed like a perfect match for Medium Bright Yellow. ?

I have had the great pleasure of meeting B-17 Sentimental Journey in person several times and B-17 909 (R.I.P.) once during air shows in my area.  I am not familiar with B-17 Texas Rangers, I don't think she has ever made it out here. I have had an inside tour of Sentimental Journey and also B-29 Fifi. At 5'9" both planes were definitely cramped inside to walk around inside. My spouse laughs at me for the time I spend on YouTube watching and listening to anything with four Wright Cyclones starting up and taking off, but it it is an amazing sound experience.

I may have responded before>. I took the flight on Nine-O-Nine about ten years ago.  I have a bunch of pictures and videos of the flight on my old PC but found this one on my IPAD that I took at the airport in Maryland.  RIP to the the souls that were lost in the accident in 2019.
