  1. Just a small update, but I think this thread may actually be helping get some of these done. I finally found the proper location for the rear axles and glued them in place. This allowed me to cut down the end of the frame. From there, I cut down the rear fenders and glued in the brackets. Everything above the frame is just loosely mocked up for now, including the fenders. The stance is set, and I'm happy with it. I also swapped in a Cummins from a Western Star Constellation kit, and tossed the Detroit. It's been a while since I've built an Italeri kit, and I must say it's like a vacation. AMT kits, and resin can be quite exhausting. Italeri kits, sans their mistakes, kind of fall into place.
  2. Fine work sir. I can't wait to see this big boy finished.
  3. That 352 looks very cool.I wouldn't mind building one.
  4. Here's the pics I have of the Pete. This is when it was first built.
  5. Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
  6. Wow! That is a super clean build. The alignments look spot on. Excellent job.
  7. Thanks Gator, Clayton and Brian. All in all, it was a great day! The fact that a truck with my late Grandfathers name on it took 1st was the icing on the cake.
  8. What type of truck are you looking to build? As far as stretching the frame, there are several ways to go about it. The easiest being to have ane extra frame of the one your using. The 2nd being using strip styrene to stretch it out. In most instances in can be cheaper to kit bash than buy resin, or acquire an extra axle and suspension through the trading post. Myself, I much prefer a tri-drive to a tag axle.
  9. There ended up being a third builder in the commercial category. I was a little nervous. The Mack didn't even place, which was surprising. Third place was a GMC fire/rescue pickup. The guy who built the Mack has never built a truck before. He won it in a raffle, and just decided to build it.
  10. Today was a great day at the model show! I scored some some unexpected kits. I normally don't post the prices, but this was too good to be true. I got the two fire trucks for $35.00, and the car hauler for $15.00!!!!.
  11. We'll guys, I'm proud to say that Old Greene took 1st place, and the Red Huskie took 2nd. Between that and the great deals I got on some kits, it was a great day.
  12. Thanks, I will post more later. Its an older build, but I wanted to bring something shiny to balance out the rust.
  13. Thanks guys. I picked some cool kits at great prices also. Ill post some pics later in the scored kits thread.
  14. Today is my clubs annual show, and Im usually the only truck entry. This year theres finally another truck entry. The three dumpers are mine.
  15. It's partially scratchbuilt. The main body is the tub from the dump trailer kit. The horizontal ribs are from an Italeri container kit. The axles and landing gear are from an AMT tanker. The frameless arms are scratchbuilt. This was a project I started about 15 years ago. It was pretty rough, and would have only looked good weathered and rusted. It's been stashed away until this project. I forget which kit the wheels are from.
  16. Yes, the caps have been installed tonight along with the mirrors, luberfiner, mud flaps, and AC lines. I should have some pics up tomorrow. Thanks for looking.
  17. Thank you sir! The grill is scratchbuilt using some .040 half round and some PE mesh. It was easy enough to do, so I will be sawpping the grills on my future Diamond Reos.
  18. Old Greene just keeps gettin dirtier! There has been more dry brushing, and some rot holes installed in the cab.
  19. Small update for tonight: more rust, some oil leaks on the rears and fuel tanks, AC lines added from copper wire, darkened the air lines, glass installed, more rust on trailer, dirtied up trailer wheels, decals added. Stay tuned!
  20. No worries Gator, I didn't take it as criticism. I encourage question, comments, or pointing out my mistakes. And as always I appreciate your kind comments. Thanks for following
