Model "T" Competition Coupe,Chassis painted
microboyca replied to microboyca's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hey thanks Andy for the kind remarks,I like to think that for the differential being bottoms up,that between the reverse gear ratio in the transmission and the available gears for the quick change, that a combination was found to shave some time off the E.T. It's like these guys back in the day where trying all kinds of wild set-ups to go that just little bit faster. Cheers, Ron. EDIT.I just discovered that my differential was put in upside down accidentally the last time I put this together. It had not been glued in, so it is now in the proper configuration. -
Hello again all,I am starting a new build using the dragster from the double dragster kit.Injected chev motor from the kit,and I'm thinking about a comp coupe body for it ,once I find a suitable victim to donate its body for the cause, Here's a couple of pics of the progress so far. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ron.

Thank you everyone for the kind remarks,I appreciate them.Had a real blast making this model, especially when I started to use parts from other kits and scratching stuff to make it look a little bit different than box stock.I have started on the dragster from the double dragster kit which I am going to have fun with as well. Cheers, Ron.

Thanks Pat,Here is a little update.Did up the interior ,painted the headers,I wasn't happy with the belly pan so I made a new floor pan.Just the spark plug wires(once I get my hands on some yellow wire of the proper O.D.}And then on to the decals.Having a blast with this build. Thanks for looking and for all the comments and inspiration!!! Cheers, Ron.

Thanks for the kind remarks everyone and Mike I would like to try that style of lettering, where would I find info on that, any suggestions?I was trying to decide on what kind of pipes to put on this thing, none of my kit ones where quite right,so I made a set of funny car style zoomies from .080" styrene rod.I still have some corrections to make on them. They give this car a mean looking appearance Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ron.

Hello All, I am really hooked on building these drag car models.Started work on the Fiat Topolino from the double dragster kit.I'm modifying the body into one piece with the large fender cutouts on the nose piece.Replaced the radius rods on the front end by grafting the front of the hairpins from the kit to the hairpins from the Tony Nancy dragster set and also used the front and rear wheels from the same kit.Hope you like it and thanks for looking. Cheers, Ron.

Hey thanks Dave and that is a great gasser your cousin has there.Maybe I will try that one sometime as I would like to build another Willys. Here is what this build ended up like.I'm happy with it overall but made a few mistakes with it along the way,but live and learn.Made it to represent a driver/owner car that does not have any major sponsors yet but is paying his dues.Had a blast building this and thanks for looking. Cheers, Ron. -

Hello all, Started on the painting on this one.Primed the body with automotive red oxide primer,Testors copper metallic enamel thinned with lacquer thinners was then airbrushed on.Then brown semi-transparent nail polish was mixed with some clear lacquer was thinned and airbrushed on,followed by a coat of orange clear nail polish and then a clear coat.Kind of looks like a dark beer color.HeHe!!! Have to finish detailing the interior while the paint cures a bit. Hope you like it and thanks for looking. Cheers, Ron. -
Nice classic color,very well done

Thanks very much guys, Here is an update on this one.Made my own headers from .080" styrene rod and wired up and assembled the engine.(I've got to fill in those horrid looking ejector pin marks in the top of the carbs!!) Going to try to finish the front end tomorrow once I pick up the small vise that I ordered. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ron. -
Very nice!
