Looks really cool!! What color did you go with? There's a hearse around here that is very similar, in a dark metallic purple. It even tows a matching purple coffin that has a fake skeleton come up and wave at the press of a button in the car. I've been trying to get a shot of it, but I have only seen it cruising at night, they don't seem to take it into the daytime car show that I've seen it at for the past 4 years.

Cool! What a way to break back into the hobby after a 25 year layoff! I don't think I've gone 25 weeks without a completion since I started building! That blue looks great on there. I really like that shade of it, I've used it a few times and the car I won at MASSCAR with was painted the same color!

Hi Steve, welcome to the board! There are LOTS of mail order companys that are more then willing to ship overseas. I believe Tom Carter @ Hobby Heaven has even said something like 30% of all his customers live outside the USA.

Hey cool! I didn't realize it wasn't curbside. Is it a Jimmy Flinstone kit? I saw one, probably 3 years ago, that Almonte had purchased at the NNL East that looked very similar, body only. If it is I think I will have to stop at Jimmy's table come Toledo in October!

The Unbelieveable has happened! I Actually won an award! I took third place in the Shelf Model Competiton Non-Drag class! I never EVER thought that would happen in a million years! Not only that, but Mom took second place in Ladys Only! She's only built one model ever, and she did it so I would stop pestering her to build one. Now she is talking about doing more! If you use Fotki, it automatically sizes them to fit on the screen. Photobucket does not, and they are the main cause of side-scrolling pictures. In fact, I've not seen any other photo hosts make you do that, including some I never heard of before I saw them used. Jairus, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make them so small you can't see them like Scale Auto does. There's a (few) reason(s) I don't post there, and that is one of the biggest ones.

Mine was molded in white...I got one of the last ones, from Okey's Wharehouse find. Didn't come with tires, but that's OK as I built it as a slight custom. With Johan kits, like Gregg said, it's like a Pot-Luck...you never know what you will get! I have a 72 NASCAR Torino in semi-translucent Orange and two in white, and my Heavenly Hearse is molded in bright blue!

Not to high-jack a thread, but shouldn't it be about time for Revell's 41 Chevy Pickup and 66 El Camino to come back again? I can't find any copys of them at all around here, and I didn't see any at the NNL East either. And I actually want to build the El Camino as an El Camino, not just rob it for parts!

Looks good Bill! I've always liked sprint cars but have never built one. I do have Steve's Superman car from 99 planned for some point.

Thanks Bill! I gave it a coat of Testors Model Master Lacquer White Primer (My Primer of choice!) but most of that has been sanded off now! Once I sand out the putty, I will give it another coat. This is by far the most body work I've ever done before!

Thanks Bill! I gotta get building more models, I did 48 last year but only 8 this year so far! Quality over quantity though, right? I'm trying to improve them each a little bit or at least, not get any worse We should form the Bearded Modelers Association LOL

I joined up here as soon as I knew it existed, I didn't know it was around until the NNL East when Gregg told me about it, and now, here I am! You got a LONG way to go with the beard David, I've been working it since 1997! Here's a shot of me and my stash in January 05 Kits Owned: 1030something Kits Built: 189 kits started: 150something! Can't get to my bench it's at home in NY and I'm in Massachusets for MASSCAR! Otherwise I would have had my 9th of the year done by now, when I left it was about 80% done. I just need to paint the engine and all it's parts then touch up the tree attachment points, assemble it and take pictures!

Jairus, I'm in Massachusets now for the MASSCAR show, so I can't check my stash, but I don't believe any of the El Caminos have a horse on the decal sheet. 3 times the Black Knight has been available in kit form: Monogram's first 1978 kit, which has been available 5 times now, in it's first issue molded in black from 1978. When it was reissued in 2000 it included the full Black Knight cladding. That was the 3 in 1 issue that included Stock (Black Knight), Custom, and Lowrider. That was the last time the Custom parts and the cap was in the kit. This was also the first time the Monogram Tool was issued undel Revell's name. It was last seen in 2005 as a Lowrider, which may or may not be currently available, most well stocked hobby shops or mail order companys should have it. But there is no Black Knight markings of any sort in the 2005 issue. MPC's 79, the same kit that was re-used multiple times and eventually evolved into the 1986 was done as the Black Knight in it's first appearence. It was molded in black, as well. I have all three kits, but I never opened the MPC one because I have many diffrent copys of that kit and didn't feel the need to open it. If you can't tell, I'm kind of an El Camino Freak (See: My Fotki, my email address) and I'm working on a kit history of El Caminos that I will, when done, submit to you guys. I need to hunt down or borrow a few kits first, and, of cource, it would help to build some. I've built 4 of the Monogram tooling but none of AMT's legendary 59 built! I also have plans to build a MINT 1960 later this year. Just need to decide what color to build it.

Here's something I've been working on for the past few months. I started with Revell's 1995 Chevy Street Pickup, and started modifying it. I lowered the front suspension and raised the rear, I removed the door handles and scratchbuilt a bed cover. I drilled out the wheels... Really pleased with how the Chevy logo on the grill came out. The bowtie logo is Testors gold, and the trim is Red Sharpie. The frame and engine are gold, too. The rolled pan was scratchbuilt. I also sealed off the tailgate. It used to open. This is about how it's going to sit. Here's the bed cover. It was clear plastic. It was primered then. That didn't come out so good. Now, I've sanded a bunch more, and it's sitting home with putty in several places. I filled in the vents on the nose, and I'm in the process of smoothing out the bed and other various parts. There's lots of putty on it, and it should be ready for sanding when I get home from Massachusets...

Got some more. These were all completed in the week before the NNL East! I have also completed two more since these but I don't have any pictures of them yet. At least not since they were finished! Every single one of these has more pictures on my Fotki!

Hi everybody. I'm new here, but most of you already know me, or soon will! My name is Billy Kingsley, from Wappingers Falls NY. I'm 21 and have been building since November 1999. As of this time I have built 189 models but alot of them are not good at ALL. I won't be showing them, to see them you'll have to find them on my Fotki. I will just be showing my good models and important ones to me too. I love all old American cars. If it's pre 73, it's something I like! I don't drive yet, but I hope to one day own an Edsel in 1:1. In August of 2000 I joined the ModelCarList, which started me off on the internet modeling community and changed my modeling forever! In March of 2002 I joined the Town of Newburgh Model Car Club. It was the absolute best decision I ever made in modeling. These are the absolute nicest guys you could hope to hang out with and consider friends. I would not be a model car builder anymore if it weren't for these guys. They taught me how to spray paint and build better models. I also am the writer, editor, photographer and publisher of the TNMCC Newletter! After not having one for a few years I am restarting one and just sent the first one out this month. I hope to someday give something big back to the hobby, but no more on that just yet. I have been a NASCAR fan since 1992, but only started building them in 2004. I didn't want to brush paint them so I totally ignored them...which was dumb, but, what can I say. I do dumb things some times! Nowadays, that is mostly what I build, but I still throw in a street car from time to time, in fact my most recent completion is the Model King 70 Bonneville. I havn't photogaphed it yet, however, as I am saving my pictures for my MASSCAR coverage. I like going to model shows. It is, IMO, one of the most fun things to do. MASSCAR this weekend will be my 15th model show. I've been going to the NNL East since 2001, the NNL Nationals since 2003, MASSCAR since 2004, LIARS in 02 and 05, and the Goodguys East Coast Nationals last year. I work that show (as part of the TNMCC) and I work the NNL East as a volunteer, as does my mom. Say hello if you see me, I love to talk models! (Which is why I spend so much time on the message boards, I would guess. I post on 4 model car boards daily, counting this one!) OK, now, some of my models, in the order I built them. My first model My first NASCAR model that was not a prepaint. Yes, it is brush painted! This is what got me building NASCAR models. I did open the trunk but no good shots of it. After I did this one, my mom ordered me one of everything Slixx had left in their NASCAR sale. Believe it or not, this was an AMT kit. Unfortunatly, I can't show this one or take any more pictures of it, as I dropped the trunk lid down behind my bookcase. My bookcase that has not been moved since 1990. It's gone, along with parts of my 66 Olds and the tailgate for one of my 4 Monogram 78 El Caminos. The Sand Shark on the sand at Lake George, my favorite place in the world. I also love Tom Daniel designs, but most of them were built before I knew what I was doing. Johan Rambler. It is so far my only street car with Graphics. Slixx, of cource. The paint is Tamiya Bright green with a coat of Testors Pearl Clear over the top of it and the decals. This car was given to me by Rick Hanmore, which he taught me how to paint on. This is truly the first car I ever spray painted. My damaged modified. One of, if not, THE first attempt at damage on a car. SMILE! One of my favorite builds of mine. There are 83 Smileys on it. The big ones are scratch and sniff. Possibly the first scratch and sniff model ever, LOL! Unfortunatly it took some damage and needs to be repaired. This one would have looked alot better if I hadn't put the roof underlay on upside down...D'oh! My only car to be printed in a magazine. Not MCM though. Scratchbuilt the antenna on this one This is a Palmer kit. The wheels and tires and suspension came from the parts box, among other parts. There is no engine as it would not fit under the hood. Well, it is Palmer!

Just one of many suggestions I am sure I will come up with... Howabout picking one of the models posted on the board and running it in the magazine? Kinda like a reader's gallery from the message board. Maybe like one page an issue or whenever you have a half page free or something along those lines. Just a thought!

The Impala 3 pack with the 63 and 64 from, say, 98 or so can be built stock too...That's how I built this Gold one in 2000...It was my 7th model only, so it's not so good. It's one of my best early ones though. This was before I discovered the internet modeling community. Time Machine Resin has a flat hood for it as well, which I got in Toledo last year but have yet to use...The only other copy of the kit I have is the HobbyTown USA exclusive which is a pure customized version, not what I want to use the flat hood for!
