  1. That's a great kit. I looked at the parts for 20 minutes or so, just taking them all in. I'm looking forward to getting started on it. Some Questions: Is anyone doing decals for it? Nothing against College Park MD, but I'd prefer to build a truck of someplace I'm a little more familiar with, someplace I've been, actually. I'd really like to get them for Peekskill, NY, as my dad, grandfather and several uncles were not only members of the force, but captains. That weird yellow some companys use...is there a good paint match for that? The instructions mention tubing. I didn't see that in my kit. Did I get short changed, did I miss it, do you supply that yourself? I'm sure I'll think of some more as I go along. I also created a Fire Trucks album on my Fotki. It has pictures from two times they have been in my neighboorhood and one from the mid 70s my mom took. Eventually it will have pictures from a Firemans' convention we went to in 02 or 03. http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/real_cars/fire_trucks/
  2. That's amazing! I just got one of the kits last night at the TNMCC meeting, and by looking at your Fotki, I see you have completed 3 already? WOW! That looks like a very complex kit, I spent about 20 minutes just looking at the parts.
  3. WOW! That polishing is something that really sets it off, for sure! Can't wait to see some more on that one!
  4. That looks fantastic, Chuck! You did a really fine job on that one. What paint is it?
  5. That looks fantastic, Art! I should have my Imperial done later tonight, but it's a horrible build. I might not even show it. Your Limo is great!!
  6. I'm loving this thread!! I did a few cars that fit in this catagory quite a while ago but nothing for a long time. But, currently, I've been on a street car kick, and I've got 3 34 Fords, a 27 Ford, a 29 Ford, and a 37 Chevy all in progress. One of the Fords is a Revell 34 that's much maligned but since it's a custom/hot rod, who cares if it's not quite right!! 34 Ford Pickup from Lindberg (Ex-AMT) kit 36 Ford Both of these are pretty darn crappy!
  7. Looks great! I love the fade in the back....
  8. I do my painting outside. Never any worries about overspray, at least.
  9. It's not really thick...They must have applied alot of it, or used some kind of heavy undercoat...
  10. Thanks again! Anthony, this will be making all the rounds, MASSCAR, NNL Nationals, NNL East, LIARS, Cape Cod, wherever I go. This one is so good, when I travel to new shows that I've not been to before, this one will be going!
  11. I used it on one of my NASCARs, it was the only way to get a close color. I didn't have such good luck, some of it was shiny and some was not. I am going to try another coat, then, if all else fails, dump a can of Testors MML clear onto it! A full can should get it nice and shiny!! LOL.
  12. That looks fantastic Bill! Can't wait to see it move along and at the next NNL I see you at, whenever it may be!
  13. Just finished this Revell (Monogram) 71 Hemi Cuda last night. What a great kit. Everything just fell toghter perfectly. Paint is Black Gold BlueBlood Red (the color that I bought to do the 2003 Kurt Busch car) with Black Gold Clear. Fully BMFd before the clear. Kit Billboard stripes, and it is all box stock except for the liscense plate decals which came from an AMT kit. I also drilled out the openings in the wheels, which was NOT fun, then painted them Tamiya Gloss Aluminum. It blows my Bel Air out of the water, no pun intended! I based it off this picture I was given on the Hobby Heaven board.... Some things are diffrent, but that is the picture I printed out and used as refrence. I chose the 1972 Utah plates for two reasons: One is that they fit nicely in the opening and were not vanity plates, and two is that I used the rear window vents. They were only available on vinyl top cars from the factory, but there was a set on the aftermarket of the time that was nearly identical to the factory stock option. Since my rear window was scratched, I had to use them. Plus, they look good I also used the book Hemi by Robert Genat for refrence.
  14. Thanks guys! Ray, very cool website, I'm liking it! That El Camino is awesome! Nice to see it in red, too. Not many of them like that. If you've not worked with that kit yet before, beware, the hood is usually warped. I have 3 diffrent copys of it, all of which has warpage in the hood
  15. AMT 57 Chevy. I can't believe how well this turned out! I painted it in 2003, actually, the day of the blackout. I remember that because I was sitting on the living room floor showing my mom and brother the car when the power went out. It then sat...for more then two years. When I got sick earlier this year, I couldn't open the windows to build so I found some that I could bare metal foil. This one was one of them, but I never actually did it until earlier this week! (And, coincidentally, I was sick again)This build then just progressed very quickly. Of note, I painted this on August 14th 2003...I only learned how to use a Rattle Can on August 11th 2003. I decided not to paint the interior because I test fitted it, and loved the way it looked, so I just left it white and picked out some bits with silver Sharpie. The Dashboard was BMFd. The car was planned to be stock, but I decided at the last minute to make it custom when I discovered the wheels to hubcaps fit was less then perfect. So, I made it as a street cruiser. I raised the rear using spacers from the parts box, and the front is the lower of two box-stock positions. With the rear raised, the front suspension touches the ground. The engine is the blown 409 from the kit. (I gave the 283 away as a PIF yesterday) Since I don't have any gold BMF, I painted the regular BMF gold for the scripts and whatnot. I also decided not to include the cross bar in the grill area.
  16. Thanks Dave, I got your site in my inbox within 10 minutes of posting that! I didn't see Modern Motorsports on there.... http://www.angelfire.com/nj4/mm0/index.html I spent about 3 hours rooting around on your site... Steve, forgot the linK!!
  17. Yup! It's going to be an old Willys Jeep wagon....
  18. Glenn they don't show because you have the free version....If you upgrade to paid , you can post them and they will stay forever, you wil get unlimited storage space, complete control of albums and more....
  19. Thats cool! I have to hunt me down one of those kits!! My build for this is currently soaking in Bleche White....
  20. Is there a definitive list of all resin websites? As my signature now states, I'm just getting into resin building. It took me long enough, I've been buying them since 2002 and it was my 2006 New Year's Resolution. I've been working with the for the past three days and I have a whole bunch more to clean. Right now I've got soaking: MCW 77-80 NASCAR Oldsmobile Perry's Resin 04-05 NASCAR Ford MCW 66 Nash Ambassidor RMR Willys Jeep Wagon and I've already cleaned Modelhaus 48 Tucker MCW 76-80 NASCAR Chevy Missing Link 65 Mustang Fastback Modern Motorsports 2003 NASCAR Pontiac and a bunch of loose parts. So, Now I'm wanting to peruse resin websites to see what else I can get myself into. I've got to say, when I finish one of them, I will be very proud of myself as this was/is a major hurtle for me. Now, I have a whole new world open to me and the sky is the limit! (well, that and my usually empty wallet!) This is the last big step and I'm really excited. The Tucker, MM Pontiac and MCW Monte Carlo should be primered later today, provided it ever stops raining. The Tucker is also going to be my first Documented Replica build, provided I can get the Tucker logo I need made up. Sorry to ramble, but I'm really excited about all this. Thanks in advance! I'm looking for currently active websites, sorry, I should have included that originally!
  21. Great job MCM staff! Really quick turn over time, I just got #112 last week. My favorite article was the one about Fred Cady. When were those pictures taken? Last I saw Fred his hair was gray, so I think those may be older, and I know Bill has run similar pictures in his NASCAR book so just wondering. Not a complaint by any means, just curious. I'm full of Questions, you know
  22. Pants aren't required?!? Hiya Ricky!
  23. LOL Glenn....Darn Right! All these 66 El Caminos being built up lately makes me want to finish the one I started last month, that's for sure...And I bought it to be a donor kit!
