How old are you??
Billy Kingsley replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will be 22 years old in roughly 3 months. I was born October 18th, 1984. Came home from the Hospital in what was probably a early 70s Torino wagon. My mom was lucky thoguh, she came home from the hospital in a Studebaker. A New Studebaker, at that. (1952) -
Some of you may remember this build from the past. When I first started building NASCARs, this was a car I went right for, due to it having significant meaning to me in 1/64 scale. The original build was finished in September 2004, and was one of my first NASCARs built, it was only my 5th full detail NASCAR. Unfortunatly, I went at it with no reference at all, and I build up a totally wrong chassis, a gray one. So, I got to thinking about it, and even though I have a self imposed "Do Not Change" Rule, I decided to build up a new chassis for it. The gray chassis was just shifted over to the Jeff Burton #8 TIC Financial car that I did. And now it has a more accurate, all red chassis. I forgot to bring some white tire decals with me to Lake George, so it will have to wait and get them after we get home. Unfortunatly, it took some damage in that time too. Here is where it was in 2004... And here it is now, all done! You can follow the whole build, both chassis, from start to finish here: http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/indi...2_tracy_leslie/

Billy Kingsley replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I am in there, which is all too rarely, I use "ElCaminoBilly" If you don't know me by that by now, you've been sniffing too much lacquer! I actually have it password protected so I'm going to keep that the way it is. Sorry Gregg -
I took a trip to the Saratoga Automobile Museaum today, and took 108 new photos of DW's 1985 Budweiser Chevy Monte Carlo Notchback. I wasn't able to get under the hood, but I completly photodocumented the interior, and I even got on the floor and got some undercarraige shots. This is a REAL Race Car NOT a Show Car! Enjoy! There is lots more at the album which can be seen here: http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/real...budweiserchevy/ Other pictures from the Museaum can be seen here: (Pictures 127-160 were taken today) http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/real...oga_automobile/

Done: Kyle Busch's late season 2005 Rookie of the Year car..
Billy Kingsley posted a topic in NASCAR
Here is my latest completion. It is the 4th car in my Rookie of the Year project, and is the main reason I built it. I don't like Kyle Busch, he's probably one of my least favorite drivers...but, he won Rookie of the Year so I built the car. The plan was originally for this body to be a Jeff Gordon car, but the paint came out like ######. Has runs, a few bubbles, and lots of dust. Since I like Jeff Gordon, but the body was not great, I decided to make Kyle Busch's car with it. Basic almost box stock build, moved the ignition boxes to the dash and the decals are JWTBM. Even though they were JWTBM, they were some of the hardest I've ever used, and there are lots of faults with them. When I get home, I need to touch up some of the hood, I accidentally tore it when I was applying it. Since it WAS Kyle Busch, I decided to try a few things I don't normally do. For instance, I painted the roof rails, wing, air dams, cowl, and lower front grill. Normally I leave them body color, but I decided that if I messed it up on this car, who cares? Luckily, it came out pretty darn good so I will do it again in the future. Enjoy the pictures! Sorry they are not in the Sunlight. You know Chris, out of the 125+ NASCARs I have started, that one is the one I get the most "Finish it" posts for?? And it's one of my worst works, too! I will, someday, when I am brave enough to tackle sectioning the dash. I've never sectioned anything before... -

Hi Leon! It's been AGES since I last spoke with you...WAY back before Yahoo took it upon themselves to mess with the ModelCarList! I credit you for teaching me the diffrence between Lacquer and enamel! -

Post your stalled projects
Billy Kingsley replied to Mark C.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would post in this thread...but then the board would explode. I have about 150 stalled projects. More then half are NASCARs....No so much stalled though as just moving on to another project.... OK, I guess I will post some of the ones I think the board will find the most interesting. This one is probably the most interesting. It started out as one of Revell/Monogram's awesome 48 Ford Woodys, and then it met Mr. Razor Saw. The plan is to shoehorn an AMT NASCAR engine into it. I also want to replace the wood panels with real wood. I have not touched it for over a year. This 64 Impala was on track to be my best model ever. Then, while clearcoating it, I dropped it in the snow, ruining it. Acid Snow (gotta love New York  ) and Tamiya clear don't mix. So it's pretty dead. Then I bought a MCW 64 Biscayne, found out I needed to supply the hood and taillight panel. Didn't have one, so it sat, and the Biscayne got crushed in my basement. D'oh. It's almost a comedy of errors, if it was funny. This one came to a grinding halt when I discovered, either by shoddy kit making, or shoddy building (probably the latter) I needed to section the dashboard to fit. Project Gold Rush came to a halt when it got to the point where I wanted to go MC Hammer on it. Not a great picture, but, it's good enough. I did prime it (twice) but neither time worked. I HATE primer. My 40 Ford Sedan Delivery has been stalled since 2001. It was my first successfull door opening. I stupidly brush painted it black, and that's pretty much what killed it. I also bought some hinges from MicroMark but lost them which kind of hurt the project. I found them though, in the bottom of one of my parts boxes, last month! So I may get back too it. The door will be reverse hinged, a Suicide door. -
I've been trying to talk Gregg and Jairus into having a "Message Board Model" since I discovered the darn place...My idea is pick one random model and run it in the magazine...so that when the builder sees it, it's a total, awesome surprise. It would A) Make the recipiant extra gratefull to the magazine and perhaps even more importantly, get more builds posted. But, that's just my thoughts...as skewed and crazy as they sometimes (always) are!

Finished this one up yesterday...Had a combination of fun and headaches with this build, no happy medium. First, the kit decals were incredibly hard to use...they tended to crack all over the place. The fact that they were being applied to an unpainted body really didn't help. (If I were to do another, I'd clearcoat it first) Then I had all kinds of trouble with the chassis. I left my wheels and tires home, thus forcing me to buy another kit to rob them from (in this case my 5th Rick Mast Remington Tbird) and I accidentally glued in the rear suspension wrong, so only three wheels touch the ground. And of cource, I HAD to use Super Glue to attach them. (D'oh!) I tried painting several days, but was unable to as it was so hot the paint was congealing. So I had to wait for it to cool off some, which it finally did, yesterday. So, it's now done. I ended up building it as a show car. The real car was not gold chrome, just gold, but the gold chrome body was too cool not to use. I've already built another Bill Elliott car that can only be a showcar (95 Thunderbat) so maybe this will spur me on to build that Bill Elliott Showcar hauler from the Galaxie Limited kit I have been talking about for ages now. I made the engine red because I seem to recall being told by a Bill Elliott expert almost everything on these cars was red. It's just a showcar, no big deal. If I can ever find another set of decals, I will do the painted gold version, too. Thanks and enjoy the pictures! I don't have any sun pictures yet but I will soon. Hopefully! You can see the Buildup at THIS album

I like the Spring Thaw Idea, Lyle. Would be great prep for the show season, IE, NNL East, too. I am not in favor of moving the dream Cruise over here. It would finally give those who think it's an Us vs. Them thing with the Hobby Heaven Board something to use as actual proof...and it probably would be. Needless to say, I support both boards and will continue to do so as long as I have an internet connection and the ability to type.

I love that car, personally that body style is my all time favorite Camaro. Charlie gifted me that car in, what, 2000? And I still havn't built it yet I can't even find the thing with all the junk in my basement! I didn't do it sooner because I didn't want it to come out bad, like, brush painted. Now that I want to build it and think I have the skills, I can't find it...D'oh!

This one is done but I am too tired to post it tonight!

Update! Here is what I have on the chassis... The body... All togther now!

Makes sence to me, Brian! My white molded body was painted Dark Mica Blue in anticipation of becoming Glenn Allenn's Barbasol car but it didn't turn out very good.

Help I want to do a Ferrari
Billy Kingsley replied to Tuffy's Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Charlie...I dare you to paint it Neon Pink -
Yes this is the one I forgot the wheels home for! I will have to buy another Taurus to rob the wheels out of! Luckily I know of where about a dozen Johnny Benson Tauruses are, but do I really need 25 of them? I think we all know the answer to that one! That looks great Brian. But why didn't you use the white molded body that's in the same kit? Just curious. That's the other, more accurate version I mentioned.

Not that it's rare for me to have NASCARs in Progress...just unusual to post them. I either finish them too quickly or lose interest and work on something else. Case in point, I have not worked on this car since last September! Almost a year! Anyway, this is Bill Elliott's 1998 Gold car, celebrating NASCAR's 50th Anniversary, which was issued by Revell-Monogram in gold chrome. Now, that's not quite right, but, dang it looks good! The real car was just gold...If I ever get another set of decals, I will do the more accurate gold body. The kit comes with two bodys so I could do both bodys and just change them, provided I found another set of decals and windows. The car ran a full red interior too, which is not really common anymore. In the 90s though it was not too uncommon, and I think all of Bill's #94 cars had a red interior. I only have a handfull of kits here with me in Lake George, and I am determined to finish this car. All the red is painted, except the window net, I just have to do the rest. It was also odd, as the package shelf is part of the interior but molded as part of the body, so I had to paintred over the gold chrome plating. Weird feeling, for sure! Anyway, enjoy the pictures. I will try to come up with one of the interior soon. Pre Decals: Decals in progress: (Very tricky decals. They had a tendancy to crack quite a bit, it didn't help that I was decaling an unpainted surface!) And the decals are done. Not a good picture, I don't have a side shot! The Bud Pole Award decal came from Slixx and the Winston Cup came from Cherry Run. As it sits now, the chassis is about 80% and the windows are done too. It does have it's own album, but there's only 9 pictures in it, counting these, so there's not much to look at. http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/indi...lliottgold50th/
