  1. Bummer Dave, there's no other Manxes in sight, at least not today. If you get here by Noon on Sunday you'll still see a few... Richard, I will! Even if I don't post them, you can always find them in my Real Cars section on my Fotki, found in my signature!
  2. Dave, are you going to do the Nationals this weekend? It's way way hard to get good photos there, too many cars parked too close togther + the amount of people but it doesn't stop me from trying! Not sure if I will be able to hit the Museaum this time, I want to though to see the John Fitch exhibit. If I can I'll give you a call!
  3. Bob, for all the fits it was giving you, it certainly turned out awesome! A mostly forgotten Muscle car, I really like it!
  4. I've had that happen too Dan! The closer a project gets to completion, the more things go wrong! It's one of the Modeling Laws of Physics!
  5. Thanks, guys! Ken. it'll definitly be in Toledo!! That and a few others too!
  6. I've been doing this lately too...I had some problems with it when I first tried it out, but I think now I've got it. I used to leave too much BMF, and you could see the outlines under the paint. Not now, though! It especially works great for what you did, the letters on the tail panel. I did two Pontiacs with that, and it was a real life saver!! Might have the 69 Firebird done this week, too.
  7. Joe, glad to see you posting one of your NASCARs here. I think I had the only ones posted so far. That came out really great! When I finally make the much talked about order from Mike, I will grab a set of those decals myself...
  8. Awesome concept Dan, I'm liking it!
  9. Looking good my friend!
  10. This is the old Monogram 1/24 32 Ford, I used the Beach Boys issue from 1989 that was molded in red (which shows up in pictures on the running boards, but not in person, ODD!) The paint is Tamiya Metallic black on the body and regular black on the fenders. The interior is Model Master Lacquer (MML) Sterling Silver. All directly over the red plastic. This is the first model I've ever built specifically for a contest theme. The NNL Nationals has a Merc/Duece reunion next month, and the TNMCC and NNL East both have 32 Ford themes. So, I set plans into motion and built this over the days of August 22nd-August 31st. Overall, I am not completly happy with it, but it's a fun, simple kit that was a perfect fix for the workbenchless blues; the kit was built entirely on my bed and floor. The hardest part was the grill. I had to drybrush it 7 times to get it to look the way I wanted it too. I also found the suspension to be too fragile, it broke several times. Unfortunatly, it does not photograph very well, the metallic black is very hard to photograph, my Johan 70 0lds presented the same problem. It moves into #1 in my All My Models album on my Fotki. The builds are in there in chronological order, and it is older then the 34 Ford Pickup I built in 2000. The album now has 465 photos, the largest model album I have. Thanks for looking! I was trying to get a shot of the dashboard here. It's MML brush silver, with a red Sharpie providing the gauge faces.
  11. am really doing the happy dance for several reasons, really! First, bright and early tomorrow morning, we head for Lake George for a week, which includes the best 1:1 car show, the Adirondack Nationals. I plan to take lots of pictures! Even better, my brother is coming up Thursday and will be with us for the rest of the trip! I may be without the net for a while though...the connection there is hit-or-miss. But, even better, when we get back, the next day the plumbing and heating people come and start to change our water heater (an original in the house from 1955) and that will take a few days. After THAT, the next weekend in the Goodguys show at Rhinebeck which will have a model show, that I will be working. And, then, after all of that, I will FINALLY be able to begin to set up my permanent workspace!! Oh yeah, and, we found in the basement today my box of missing Model Car Magazines. I recieced a kind donation from Richard Daniel (Moe) of a ton of Scale Autos in 2001 and I read a bunch of them. My early Model Cars magazines were in there too. But the box went missing in late 02 or 03 and I've been trying to find them ever since! They were right in front of me the whole time! Hiding in plain sight, I guess! When we get home I will be reading them all again. Tonight I reread part of my first ever issue of Model Cars, July August 2000. So yeah, I'm happy!!
  12. That is pure Awesome Mark! It reminds me of a Hot Wheels set from 1996 or so...It's just too cool for words!
  13. Jairus, if you win the lottery, you can buy the car, which will then attract the supermodels! Love that Mustang. The early (pre-73) Mustangs are one of the all time best car designs, IMO, and they ALL look good to me.
  14. Welcome to the board!
  15. That is awesome and happy birthday!!
  16. I also stand by the MML Clear. I don't even own a can of Tamiya clear anymore, at least, not a full one. I still beieve the MML Is the best paint available to the general hobbiest.
  17. Still on for Toledo, Gregg? Are you guys going to drive to it? (and I thought my 11 hour one way trip was alot!)
  18. This is the only one I've built so far...it's 1/64 scale.
  19. I'm finally ready to try stripping paint. I plan to buy some ELO at the hobby shop this coming week. One of the first things I need to strip is a project that I had been working on that was fairly detailed, Not Super Detailed but more then I usually put. But, I painted it today and it's one of the worst paint jobs I've laid down all year. So, I'm going to try and strip it. I made metal hinges for the opened trunk, and I am afraid I will dissolve them. I don't want to do that. I'd rather sand the entire body first. Thanks in advance!!
  20. Cool stuff! I'm liking that Mopar!!
  21. As you may or may not know, I do all my model car building on a fold up card table in my room. Not the best place to do work and not something that is permanent as I have to take it down periodically. (I took it down in July). I have, for the first time, the opportunity to have a Permanent Home to work on models, in the basement. I already have a table handy, as mom is going to give me the old computer desk, and get a better one. We've used this one since 2002 when we got a PC (before that was laptop only) and it's never been right for our computer. The problem is, the area it would go is currently housing my unbuilt model car collection, about 800 kits. The soulution would be, sending them to storage and keeping only a few home at any given time. Hopefully this would solve another of my problems, starting too many projects. My problem is, will the kits be unharmed by being kept in a storage unit? I've been told they would be fine up to 200 Degrees F. If it gets that hot, I think we have bigger problems, but it may get up to 115-120. In the winter, it can get down to below 0 F. Wind Chills on record is -60 F. Will this wide temperature change hurt the kits? I don't want to go down there some day and find a bunch of dead kits that cracked in half, melted or warped or something. There is NO temperature control in the storage unit. Whatever the temp is outside, that's what the temp is inside. There's not even a light in the units we have. I have older kits, too, back to the early 1960s. Odds are I would keep those home, but is there a limit? Does the plastic get brittle with age? Most of my collection is fairly current stuff, I'd say about 80%-85% is stuff issued in the 90s through current. Should everything Pre-1990 stay? Or another time frame? The units are secure so the only real worry is what the elements would have on the kits. They will stay dry, but the humidity could be a factor. I already plan to take the tires and decals out of each kit. What kind of extremes do your kits stay at? Thanks for all the advice possible...I'm open to, and ready and willing to listen to anything anyone has to say. I've been dreaming for a long time of having a permanent workspace...and it COULD become a reality by the end of September.
  22. Thanks, guys. I will probably actually begin work on this one this week!
