  1. Just a shot out of the blue, crazy idea that came into my head, but maybe you could use the "Donk" chassis with better wheels and tires? I havn't got any of those "donk" kits, nor do I plan to, so I don't know if it would work, but it's just a crazy idea I had.
  2. I don't "do" drag cars, but I may have to make an exception and get that one. I have this odd fascination with that body style  and that box art is awesome (which is no big surprise with Doug doing it!) Right now the plan, if I do buy one, is to make it Pro-Street. I have some huge treaded tires that I don't see giving me a problem to go under it. Those decals are going to be included right? I have a definite use for them, though not with that kit...
  3. My 5 year anniversary with the club. What a wonderfull surprise I got last night at the meeting...These guys truly are the greatest guys in the world! New member Robert Wasnorowicz Rick Hanmore Fred Weissinger More at the link! http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/tnmc...h-2007-meeting/
  4. Glad to see you decided to come over and post it here TJ...And only a little bit of prodding That looks great in color... I vote for the Chrysler wheels....
  5. Glad to see you finally decided to post, Doug! Hope to see you tonight at the meeting....
  6. Cool, I have #2! The number can be found in the box of info (The Indica) right next to Gregg's letter from the editor #63 is the one with the "Las Vegas" Lowrider on the cover.. I know I have seen that cover for 88. Hmm. Perhaps I misplaced it somehow! Thanks Ken and Ray!
  7. Thanks Ray, but what Number was the issue? I'm guessing it was either 58 or 57?
  8. I just sorted my entire Model Car Magazine collection, and put every title into numerical order...When I did MCM, I discovered that I am only missing two issues since I started reading, and I will have one of them shortly (#117). The other I missed is #88. What my question is, what was the issue number of the Very First Issue of Model Cars Magazine? I started reading with #63 in 2000 and I bought #59 in Toledo a few years back. It almost seems like it's the second or third issue maybe. I want to complete my collection so I'm needing some help from the experts... Thanks!
  9. It's obvious you've already made your decision, BUT....They aren't "real" Toyotas. They are purpose built racing machines. Toyota just pays to have their sheet metal on them. Without the sheet metal there is NO diffrence between Ford, Chevy or Dodge, and there hasn't been for years. The CoT was first talked about in 2001, after Dale Earnhardt was killed. It's another of NASCAR's usually reactionary responces. When a major driver is killed, NASCAR then and ONLY then does something about it. IE, Fuel cells after Fireball Roberts in 1964. Smokey Yunick has tried to get NASCAR to use them years before, but they couldn't be bothered. Same with the CoT. NASCAR didn't try to make the cars safer until a leading driver was killed. I agree on the CoT, I don't like it one bit, BUT, it has nothing to due with Toyota. In fact, I would wager my entire kit collection that it's exactly the opposite. Toyota heard about the CoT and said "This is when we make our move"
  10. AMT's excellent 60 Chevy pickup has them too, Matt
  11. I've been fortunate in that I've been able to get pretty much everything I've ever wanted. But, when I get the top of my list, the next highest thing becomes "Grail #1". Right now it's an original, unbuilt AMT 59 Edsel kit. In the past it was the 60 El Camino, the 69 El Camino, 66 Impala, 60 Edsel, and believe it or not, the original issue 78 L'il Red Express Dodge pickup. I've been able to buy unbuilt, mint, save the 66 Chevy which was started, examples of each of these kits.
  12. Looking good Irv. The 59 is actually one of, if not my all time favorite Chevy design. I've got one too but no farther then initial mockup. Mine'll be factory stock though, I think...Just gotta decide on the color! :?:
  13. Wow...Doesn't seem like a year. I found out this forum existed at the NNL East last year and joined up shortly after. Now you can't get rid of me, LOL. Jason, Gregg was handing out nametags at Toledo, I'll have mine on at the NNL...I've got 4 of them now (ModelCarList, Hobby Heaven, TNMCC, and here, in order of getting them)

    Camino

Wow, that is my favorite build I've seen on here in a long long time. Well done! AMT's kit dates to 1965, has been reissued about a dozen times now, most recently in 03 or 04...think 03 as a Buyer's Choice kit... Surprisingly I've never finished one of these (It's about tied for my all time favorite vehicle) but I've started 3. Luckily I have 8 in the stash, because I think I need to build one with a very similar paint scheme to yours....
  15. Bobby Hamilton's truck had them last year, and I think it does with Kenny Schrader behind the wheel this year, too. Love the look of them...I hope more teams use them eventually. I saw when Biffle wrecked in practice they put gold wheels on the car to move it around (Can't remember if it was Daytona or California testing, but I have it on tape) and the black and gold car with gold wheels looked really, really good to me. I'm glad to see teams using wheel colors other then black...Evernham has red on the 9 and 19, Penske has blue on the 2 and 12, red when the Mobil 1 car is running and yellow when the Penske Truck Rentals car is running..
  16. I believe Revell's website has a hobby shop locater on it, or you could look in your phonebook. Whenever I travel to a new area the first thing I look for is NASCAR shops, the second is model shops.
  17. I've only built one kit molded in tan, and it was horrible. No glue would stick to it and the parts were hard to paint. It was the AMT 50 Chevy Pickup Custom. Give me white, red, yellow, green, blue WHATEVER before more kits molded in that nasty tan!
  18. Hey John! Glad to hear from you again! How've you been since we last talked?
  19. You are in luck PowerSlide just came out with the first ever complete set for that car..literally, within the last week... http://mysite.verizon.net/vze23f44/mikesdecals/index.html Here is the direct link to those decals... http://mysite.verizon.net/vze23f44/mikesdecals/id291.html
  20. Scale Auto's board does that. If you want to live in a world where the board is ruled by people who don't know how to run a board...Go there. It's one of the main reasons I don't post there. The entire board should not be punished because of some people whining about picture size. This board is fine the way it is. I've only seen one side scroller thread and that had nothing to do with the picture. This is something I feel very strongly about....Obviously..
  21. When was the last time you came to New York, Gregg? Ain't nothing cheap here!!
  22. Man oh man...I've gotten so much advice from so many people, it's hard to limit anything... I can honestly say that I would no longer be a model car builder if not for the TNMCC, Rick Hanmore in particular... If I had to limit it to one thing, it would have to be when Rick and the guys taught me how to spray paint in August 2003 at the club Picnic...That was the turning point, for me.
  23. That would be great, and very, very helpfull...I know I would check it regularly...
  24. Same here on Verizon DSL. Took almost two minutes to get the board to pull in! (The other 6 boards I checked pulled up in less then 30 seconds, about 15 each)
