Whoa! creepy...
Billy Kingsley replied to JAFFA's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I beleive the Pontiac and Olds share a platform and some parts, which would explain why they look similar, if I am correct. No guarentee I am, that kind of car is not my area of expertise, as they say. I KNOW the three GMs posted from modern times share parts though.... -
Fotki image as your avatar?
Billy Kingsley replied to Jason Rothgeb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jason, you can copy and paste the thumbnail just as you would a regular photo. That's what I do on all my boards. -
It's too bad that kits can't be made on a made to order basis. Just imagine, now, if you will... A kit is announced. This would only work with reissues due to the high cost of new tools. Orders are taken, through the various shops and whatnot. The usual channels. Say the order total is 7382 kits. Just random numbers, but those are the paid order Company X recieves before the kit is first run. Since those are already paid for, Company X wouldn't have to worry about not recouping their money there because the orders would already be paid. Now, with the way this hobby works, that would not be a perfect solution because there would sure be people who either don't have the connections we have to learn about this kind of a deal (believe it or not, I think there are far more modelers who do not visit the message boards then those that do) and there may also be people who cannot afford to place a preorder but want them... SO.... Company X runs 5000 extra kits OVER the initial orders, which would then be split up between the mail order houses, LHS's, etc. That does not leave a place for Wal-Mart. Perhaps, since the presells would, or at least should, pay enough to get the kit running, Wal-Mart et all could then be given a list and they could opt-in to kits they want to carry. Of cource, on the downside of this, is that if there are NOT enough preorders, the kit then would not be run, leaving those who wanted them in the lurch...But, since they would be reisses anyway, it would not be a big deal because there are plenty of old kits still floating around.

New kits at the Resin Realm
Billy Kingsley replied to JerryK's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looking good Jerry! I really like that 50 Ford Sedan Delivery...there is one here that has been done as a mild custom, a purple and orange two-tone at the beltline. Looks better then it sounds. I may have to replicate it, but the urge to build one factory stock may be too strong, lol. I'll be ordering one within the next couple of months. Edit...here's a pic.... -
That looks great! Of cource, I'm kinda partial, but even if I wasn't that would still be an awesome build. Nice job!

What else do you collect
Billy Kingsley replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As you all probably know by know, 1/64 Diecast NASCAR is my #1 hobby. Always has been, always will be. I have more then 4,100 diffrent cars in my collection. I've been collecting since 12/26/92 and it is how I discovered NASCAR. I used to collect 1/64 street car but now only get a Johnny Lightning from time to time, depending on what it is, and especially if it (bodystyle)was ever run in NASCAR. My latest purchase is a Olds Rocket 88 which I plan to turn into Red Byron's #22 Parks Novelty Machine Co. car if I can get decals for it. I havn't activly purchased Hot Wheels or Matchbox in about 5 years now. I collect trading cards. I collected NBA cards from 1996-2006 and have more then 70,000 diffrent ones of them, too. I no longer collect those, and am even pondering selling some of them. I quit for several reasons...1) I did not like the way the hobby was headed and 2) I could no longer afford it. I had to cut back and they lost. I collect NASCAR trading cards. I've collected then since 1993 but I neglected them for many years. I only found out exactly what was in my collection in January of this year. I have more then 14,000 diffrent cards, however, I bought a filled to the brim 5000 count box for $25 in 02 or so, and that's where the bulk of my collection comes from. I havnt gotten any of this year's cards yet. I've been spending money on models! DC Comics. My brother has been reading DC only since 1975. It's his only hobby. I read all of DC's continuity books, but I also read some others too...Star Wars, Simpsons, GI Joe and that's it. We also collect the DC Direct continuty figures, too. Star Wars stuff...books and toys. We've been collecting both since before I was born. Don't plan to stop any time soon! I used to be big time into GI Joe from the 80s and 90s. I pretty much stopped with them in 04 or 05. Like the NBA cards, I had to do some crunching and they both lost. That, and, I lost interested again. When I was cleaning recently I found my money and stamp collections. While they will never regain as big of a hold as they had on me when I was younger, I do want to get back into them a little more. Most of my stamp collection was actually my mom's from the 60s, so it's mostly old stuff and stuff from the early 90s, around 90-92 when I was active in it. I was active in the old money hobby around 1992-1995, at best I can tell, because 95 was the newest stuff in the box I found I have a lot of old stuff, because I discovered that if you buy poor condition stuff you can afford more of it I actually don't know how I got most of my collection. I just plain can't remember. I know my oldest, a 1853 Dime, was given to my by a friend. Maybe the rest of the collection came from there too, I just don't know, it was so long ago. If I get back into either of those big time, it would be the money collection. I find old coins and stuff fasciniting, but since I always have a fan aimed at me, even in winter, stamps are a little more diffacult to do I collect magazines, although I will soon be cutting back on them. I've been subrscibed to Cars & Parts since 1997 when I was 13 but I am going to let my subscription lapse when it comes up again. I will be down to Hemmings Motor News, Classic Car and Muscle Car, Cars & Parts, and some other non-car related magazines  I collect all kinds of useless ######. I can't throw anything away, or at least my mother says so Of cource, the fact that we have multiple storage units proves her correct... I also collect and play video games but hardly at all anymore. I havn't played my PS2 in over a year and If I play Xbox once a month it's a lot. I'm not sure if photography counts, considering that I plan for that to be a profession, not just a hobby. Oh yeah, also NASCAR races. I'm still kicking myself for only starting to record each race in 04 or so. But, I bought a collection of about 180 tapes from the late 80s until about 1992, so I'm happy with that. Of cource, 92-99 is my favorite time in NASCAR and I have less then 10 of them on tape. D'oh! Luckily the tapes I bought were a dollar a piece so I was able to get every one he had. I know this sounds like a lot of stuff but really it didn't cost much. Smart shopping nets good results! Photos from almost all my hobbies can be found on my Fotki, in signature -
What for?
Billy Kingsley replied to Smart-Resins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great thread! My mom...On thanksgiving day, myself and my dad were always in the (very small) kitchen bothering mom as to when the food is going to come. To keep us both occupied she suggested that dad build a model with me. This consisited of him complainging the entire time about how his hands were too big and how the parts were too small, and me twisting the parts off the trees and handing them to him. That went on for three years until my dad wouldn't be bothered to do it anymore. I left the hobby then, circa 1995. (Remember, I was born in 1984) but I wasn't really in it then anyway, just handing parts over, when my dad lost interest. What brought be back, in November 1999, when I truly started building models, was again, my mom. We had purchased or had been given a couple of models for future Thanksgivings that we never used up, and one of them sat at the bottom of the basement steps for something like 5 years. (AMT 1994 issue 53 Ford Pickup) I got to looking at the box quite a bit and mom suggested to me that I try building it. As they say, the rest is history! I built that one, then built the rest of what was left over, then I started buying new stuff! Eventually building up a stash that's way too large and building lots of models. I did come very close to leaving, again. Around 2003, I was pretty fed up with model building. I was no longer having fun, and it was all because I was brush painting everything. I was just so disenchanted, if you will, in how crappy my builds looked compared to everyone else's, both on the internet and the TNMCC, that I was ready to bring my stash to the TNMCC meeting, give it away and walk away from the world of modeling forever. However, at the 2003 TNMCC Picnic, Rick Hanmore and the guys of the TNMCC taught me how to spray paint. It's been a long road with a lot of poorly painted bodies, but I am finally at the stage of my building where I am happy with what I am building, and I don't ever plan to leave the hobby. In fact, I'm thinking now of how I can go about improving the hobby (or at least one segment of it) for everyone. But more on that, later. (once I determine my cource of actions!) Now that, is hard to say! There have been so many memorys, so many great things that have happened to me because of it. Would it be....The satisfaction of knowing I DID have the talent to turn a box of gray plastic into a realistic looking truck? No, probably not, I was not aware enough of things back then. I would probably have to narrow it down to a couple things... The first time I saw one of my models in print (in the other magazine before MCM, although I have had one in Model Cars now, and it's far better then the build in SA!) Winning my first ever award, at MASSCAR 2006 (Something I never, EVER expected to happen) Seeing my name on the byline and in the contributor section in print, in a real live, genuine magazine? It's been a long time dream of mine to be a writer/and or photographer (going back to when I was in grade school, even) and just a few months ago that became a reality, thanks to modeling (And Model Cars Magazine!) Those are just the tip of the iceberg. There's just so much neat stuff that has happened to me or around me and I couldn't begin to narrow it down more. -
Thanks Jairus. I spoke to Ken Uhler on the phone after I posted and found out there were no NASCAR builds there...A shame! Going to have to rectify that in '09....
-
Welcome to the board! I really like the white and yellow one...You hardly ever see that generation of Impala two toned at the chrome like that, and the look really works. I have so many Impalas in my stash that I may "steal" your idea, though with totally diffrent colors...if you don't mind that is

Thanks for posting Gregg. Lot of fun to look through those pictures! But...Were there no NASCAR models :?: I didn't see one in the photos (though I'm not done going through them yet...) Would you mind if I saved a copy of these to our Club Fotki account? There's alot of pictures with our guys! Jim, Vince, Ron, probably more...I didn't think there would be that many when I started posting them! Too many to continue posting...But can I PLEASE save a copy to tnmcc.fotki.com ? Thanks Gregg!

Box Art for Bob Paeth
Billy Kingsley replied to cruzn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's an amazing story, Bob. I have a copy of that kit that I found in the attic...apparently it was my dad's. I'll have to check and see if I have the decals in there, it's not in great shape but it's not totally destroyed, either. What I want to know is....WHY did Mr. Glaser have a problem with it? While I may be grossly mis-informed...Under my impression it was not common knowledge who Revell's employees were to the "general public"...How would your average Joe Gluetube have even KNOWN the people mentioned were Revell employees, and not just assumed they were names found in the phonebook or something like that? -

Revell/Monogram Sold?
Billy Kingsley replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You seem to want it to be a battle though Mark, considering you've insulted my intelligence several times and even went so far as to make an entire post specifically TO make fun of me. Does that sound like the actions of someone who is not out for a battle? I think not! DO NOT twist my words to try and make me look bad. There is very little more vile then that and I will not stand for it. If you had bothered to actually READ what I wrote instead of just looking for something to insult me with, you would have noticed that I said that I did not bother to look nore care WHO made the post. You have to READ something before you can comprehend it...Try it sometime, it works wonders. (And yes, that is not two ways about it, that is a direct insult...I can dish them out when I am on the end of them) I do care about the future of the hobby and I do not see that it's going to end shortly. While it may very well change the entire face it, I cannot see it ending my involvement, your involvment, ANYONE's involvement in it because of this. Because of this, you go nuts and portray me as a villian! You have completly perverted my words in the above quote. Where do you even get the concept that I think your opinions are not valid? If you had bothered to read what I wrote, actually read it, you will see that there is nothing even suggesting that in there. Of cource, that is the same basic answer given in MOST internet "fights" when one person or group of persons is really just arguing because they happen to either A) Not like somebody or Once had an actual point they were debating but did not actually have anything to go on and needed to insult the other person. I've been around the block, I've seen a hundred pointless fights or more. They all have that thrown in somewhere, luckily it's out of the way here so we can continue mindlessly arguing about nothing  My original post was not a direct responce to any one post in particular. Why do you think that for some reason you were the target of my post? Guilty concience, perhaps? Perhaps I hit too close to home and you just didn't like that? A safe bet, as you so happily point out in your above line, does not mean fact. We do not know the hard facts. I could be right, you could be right. We just don't know. I never said anything directly related to what you said. When I have a diffrent opinion, I'm "dismissing everyone who doesn't agree with me", when you have a diffrent opinion, you say that I am "miscontruing" it! I really don't even have that diffrent an opinion. One of us is likely going to be right in this case. One of us posted one option, the other, another. What is so hard to comprehend about THAT? I agree with this. Are you familair with the term "Devil's Advocate"? Besides, even if that is 100% true, it won't affect me much at all. I don't see any reason to say it's the end of the world. And while that's not been said, and is an exxageration, it makes the same basic point that had been posted...That Revell as we knew it is dead, which I don't see as true. I suggest you practice what you preach. Here's more of that drivel you are conjuring up to make me look bad. Nobody except YOU said anything about a differing opinion being whining. You are just imagining that. Period! You have suggested that I am not intelligent enough to comprehend the simplest of basic concepts. From what he said, he had every reason to whine. Whining is not what you say but HOW you say it. He was clearly whining, and he had a valid point. Can YOU comprehend the fact that both can happen at the same time? You seem to enjoy pointing out that I am in your opinion too stupid to comprehend apparently anything posted in this thread. At least I bothered to read it! That is no diffrent then you trying to make it look like I consider anyone who has the slightest bit of diffrent opinion then me a whiner. That's both BS, and you know it. Again, if you had actually bothered to read what I wrote, you would see that I actually do have concerns about this and agree with the fact that most of what I originally called whining is true! But, you didn't bother to read what I wrote and missed that part. Yes, you were. Someone who is "not in a personal battle" does not post at the very least 7 insults and one post aimed at one person, and I did not even count the ones that were questionable as insults (giving you the benifit of the doubt, although I am not really sure why I should) You wanted a battle, clearly, and you've got it. I will not let you insult my intelligence and try and construe my words to make me look bad without a fight, or at least, without defending myself. Indeed Ken. Which is why I posted in my reply to Mark that I both A) Read more into it then what was actually there due to what I have seen in the very recent past on all the model car boards and Should have used the word complaining instead of whining. Too bad Mark didn't bother to read what I said and just tried to squeeze insults out of it! Anthony, YOU have nothing to apologize for. It's not your fault if one person tries to take over your thread to further his own agenda. -
Revell/Monogram Sold?
Billy Kingsley replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mark....I'll ignore the fact that I should take what you wrote as an insult, at the very least condesending, and address the actual issues. The Doom & Gloom aspect...Several people, in your own post you yourself, saying how the prices will rise, the availablity will decrese, etc etc...That is whining. If there was actual disgussion about that sort of thing, then THAT would be talking about the future of the hobby...Just reiterating the same thing over and over...That's whining. When I read the entire thread when I got online, I saw several posts stating the same thing you just posted...that the costs will rise, the kits will become less available, more hassle, etc. Granted since I was on the downstairs computer and not my own I had to side scroll and could not see who was making each post, nore did I bother to look at signatures, because I wanted to see the news. So perhaps the multiple posts were not from multiple posters....Didn't look then, didn't look now, don't care anyway! We don't know if the plastic kit selection will shrink. It's just been assumed that it automatically will. See Doom & Gloom. Yes, I read the guy's quote and while it is a bit flippant and not something I agree with, that Doesn't nessicarily mean that it's a bad thing. So what if he sees models as a stepping stone to R/C? It very well may be for people, even if it is not for us. Do not forget the media sometimes (sic) also distorts things. While this isn't mainstream media, we also don't know exactly where that press release was released to. For all we know, that release was to an R/C car magazine and the further media outlets for the model car world just took it and ran with it. Obviously, he wants to continue selling his R/C stuff so naturally he will continue to produce models. Weather they will be aimed at serious modelers or at the kid crowd is a legitimate concern, one I have myself, but as long as there is the raw material there there should be enough for us to work with. As for Wal-Mart...It's basically at the point now where Wal-Mart is dictating what new kits we are getting, if any. While I have no doubts they will still try to force their will on Revell anyway, the fact that a hobby shop itself (in effect)in control, they SHOULD be able to see what actual model builders want and cater to it. Wal-Mart is not a hobby shop, and from any indication I've been able to make out, they really don't care too much about modeling at all. A hobby shop, even Tower hobbies...certainly does, because it's what they do. If Wal-Mart looses sales on models, it's not a big deal to them because they have countless other wares to sell. The past is just that...the past. Just because they may have been a poor company to deal with in the past does NOT mean they will be now. Granted, it could, but it may not be so. We don't know yet how it'll be, yet all conclusions apparently have already been made. Granted, it probably WILL be, but we do not know that for sure. From what I can tell the people who had or worked in hobby shops all spoke of it in the past tense and, not knowing how long ago that was, hopefully the company will have gotten better in that time. I HAVE talked to my LHS at great length about Great Planes, actually I listed while he whined about how bad they were to deal with. I know more about more things then you seem to think I do. I also know that there's not a HobbyTown USA around for an hour in any direction. Nor do I have a Hobby Lobby. I do, however, have two LHS within 5 minutes of each other and 7 minutes of my house. One specialized in R/C cars and one in trains. Both have ordered things for me in the past, and I've no doubt both will again in the future. What my point is, is that we do NOT KNOW how this will affect the hobby. From what I've read, in this thread alone, I think it will be a good thing. Aside from the off-comment about kits, I see nothing that will hurt my hobby in any way. Many modelers do complain about the price of kits...I am not one of them, ney, I've spent almost $250 on a single kit before. If you have the money, of cource, why not use it to purchase things you would like to have? Right now, unfortunatly, I don't have that money. And, while AMT is most definitly in flux at the moment (indeed our whole hobby is, weather it be good or bad) I have a feeling it will come out alright in the end. I have no inside info whatsoever (Though I would not turn some down, were it offered me!) but I can just get the basic sence of it, and the basic lack of urgency, that someone will buy AMT...The question being not "if" but "who". Perhaps there wasn't any actual whining in the thread....Maybe I've just become so used to the whining about trivial things on ALL message boards that I just read more into it then was really there.....Maybe... I'm a glass is half full kind of guy...There is no real reason to be upset with anything right now in the model car hobby, yet, people are! I personally find it a bit rediculous to be upset with a news release before we even know exactly how it will effect our hobby. The guys who have posted in this thread who do have inside info, unlike myself, seem positive and that to me is sign enough that things are going to be fine. Perhaps I should have used the word upset instead of whining. I was short on time, perhaps I just didn't use the right word...Again, Perhaps... Of cource, I could be wrong with any or all of these things. But, I have just as equal a chance of being right, too. -
Old Torino NASCAR, the one being reissued?
Billy Kingsley replied to Modellpularn's topic in Model Cars
Oddly enough, the Johan kit features a factory stock body with all emblems and trim. The MPC (soon Model King) one is NASCAR correct, and the body should, as far as I can tell, require nothing but basic prep to be ready to build. Yet there is as far as I know no factory stock chassis to build a street car with the Johan body! I have three of them, but no MPC ones, yet. I'll be getting a case when they come out. Very interesting paint scheme on your build! -
Revell/Monogram Sold?
Billy Kingsley replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I see this as a good thing. Even the things you guys are whining about. Having Revell beong controlled by a hobby shop is far better then it being controlled by Wal-Mart. While that is an oversimplification of things, it's certainly based in fact. I am hoping that we will finally begin to get more then just NASCAR Chevys. I did tell Ed Sexton that up front I would buy 30 Chargers, and probably more in the future...Hopefully I am not the only one willing to put my money where my mouth is. Even if the prices do go up, (Why do model car builders whine about this so much? I'm guilty of it myself although since I realized it I have been making a conciouss effort to stop) if we get a NASCAR Fusion, Charger or Camry...Then it is all worth it to me. -
Tamiya Lexan Paints....
Billy Kingsley replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a dead body here. Revell 2003 NASCAR Intrepid. I'll try it out as soon as I can buy some paint, which should be this week. I'll spray it on the bare plastic to see the results. -
I finished what I believe is my best NASCAR model to date, the 63rd I have completed. This was more diffacult in some aspects then many of my other builds, as it required some elements I've never done before, mainly, masking a curve! I used Phil C.'s method of placing the tape on the decal bag then transferring it, and it worked great! Another thing that I fouhgt with was Revell's crappy plastic. I've never had any issues with it before but now I did...the hood and both sides gave me issues, and they are still noticable in the right light but most of it is under decals or was fixed with the clearcoat. About the build and decals..It's almost box-stock, with a Modern Motorsports roof cam. The decals are NASCALS/Winscals and I bought these very tentativly...Previous NASCALS decals I had purchased had a God-awfull clearcoat that made them worthless, unusable. I was assured these would not have a clearcoat, but, they did...Luckily, it was not anywhere near as bad as it had been the last time I had purchased a NASCALS decal, in 2004, and as you can see they are quite usable, so much so that I will purchase more. The decal artwork had some issues though. Oddly, there are no Chevy bowties on it nor is there grillwork. (I ended up painting that) The nose stripes are BOTH shaped wrong, and the curved white stripe that seperates the two colors on the TV panel is too short. Other then that, they were quite usable. The decals did crack quite a bit, on the black portions. Nothing some black Sharpie didn't fix! The paint is Model Master Lacquer (MML) Grabber Orange and Honduras Maroon. It seems to match the refrence photos I have of it. I took almost 50 photos of the model, and you can see the ones not posted here: http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/indi...-kenny-wallace/ Some interesting trivia: This is the first NASCAR model I have ever completed in the year it actually ran. The build from start to finish took only 7 days. The entire chassis was done in one day, although that took 18 hours of work. The body took three days and decaling took 2. It is the only Cup car I have decals for numbered 78 and is the first model I have completed since I started my one of every number project that I designated for that project. It is the first time I have masked off and painted the flat black bits, the cowl, air dams/skirts and spoiler. It is also the first time I have ever successfully picked out the bolts on the rear and side windows. As you can probably tell from all I've talked about it, I'm really proud of this one, and consider it my best NASCAR model! Ref. photo:

I'm planning on getting one and making it into a street rod, as I have no interest whatsoever in drag cars. I am looking forward to attempting that...

Art, I don't know why I didn't just email you in the first place...LOL....Thanks! I shall paint it gloss black with silver "bits". Not quite sure I know what a crankcase is (Remember I have no mechanical knowledge whatsoever! I only learned to id a Flathead from a Hemi last year, etc) but I think I can figure it out.... -

Billy Kingsley replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hans, it would not surprise me at all if GM used parts over for it...We don't get Opels over here, so I've never seen one...have a refrence photo of one? -
Grill work. For some reason I've always been able to make the grillwork look good. On many of my earlier models it is the best part. Decals. Also one of my favorite parts. I am a decal junky...since May 2004 I've purchased more then 1500 NASCAR decals... Hey, does spending money count as a skill?

What do you drive?
Billy Kingsley replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hans, that El Camino is my favorite of the ones posted so far This is our daily family car (I don't drive, so technically it's my mom's) 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited...we got it in 2003. It's beginning to have some issues (Interior leaks, devolping rust in at least 6 places on the body, tailgate only works sometimes, etc) but it's all we've got to use, so we are hoping it lasts a while. I am hoping it lasts much longer, as when my mom buys something new this would become mine. This shot is from the day we brought it home. This shot is from April of last year. In the winter of 05-06 somehow one of the fog lights turned up missing it's cover so we replaced them with aftermarket items. This is my brother's daily driver, a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. He bought it brand new, when he took it out for a test drive it had only 12 miles on it  Since he drives it to work everyday, and at work has had to use it to make deliverys and pickups on multiple occasions, plus other assorted driving, he's already cleared 5,000 miles on it. We all went over to the dealership and got it, and we got it the day after Christmas in 2005. That's it! No fun cars, no classics, nothing! We always run our cars until they die...We don't trade them for something a couple years newer or possibly better appointed...We buy them used and get as much use out of them as we can! These two are the ones that got replaced, when they died. Our van. It was a 1990 Ford Aerostar, that was more rust then anything else. We had it from 97-03. We got rid of it at the best time. We sold it to the shop that we bought our Jeep from (a mechanic shop) who was planning on using it for parts storage on his lot. Well, one of his customers begged him and begged him for it, until he relented and sold it to him. The first day he had it out, it just completly stopped working, while driving, and was totaled! Luckily, this was on a country road with speeds of about 30 MPH. If we hadn't gotten rid of it when we did...Well...Myself and my mom probably would be dead now! We were going to Lake George that day and would have been traveling on the interstate, with speeds of 60 MPH (Any more then that and the van literally started to shake apart) and bunches of 18 wheelers! This is the only shot of it I got with the digital camera, although I do have some on film that I have just not scanned yet. This was my brother's old car. A 1996 Chevy Cavalier that he bought in 1997. He was the first owner but it was a display car, I guess you could call it, and it was well worn when he got it. This is the first car I ever drove. He replaced it when the engine block cracked. Sorry the picture is lousy, but it's the only one I have digitally that doesn't have my brother in it, and he wouldn't want me to post that shot on the board... This shot holds a ton of memorys for me. Both the cars in this photo are ours. This shot is circa 1991. The Torino wagon, named Sheba, is the first car I have any memory of being in. It had brown vinyl interior! I don't recall too much about it, as I was very young when we got rid of it. It was our family car for a time, then my dad's work driver. The 83 Citation, that was out family car for quite some time. We got it in 1990, when our 66 Chevelle 4-door (My mom's dailly driver!) rusted so badly that there was no back floor. With a 6 year old (me!) back there, dad decided to get something else instead of repairing it...Something 17 year later my mom is still angry at, lol. So, he brought home the Citation. That was our daily driver from 1990 until 1997, and my dad's backup car until 1999. When we got it, it was still in fairly good shape. Granted, the AC and radio never worked (turning either on would make the car turn off!) and it had a tendancy to just stop working from time to time, but other then that it was still OK. As time went on, it got quite worn out. The headliner fell and would constantly hit anyone in the car in the head, until mom and dad ripped it out, and we had a moldy foam headliner, lol. The struts for the hatch eventually wore out too, so to go in the hatch you had to hold the tailgate open with one hand and do whatever you needed to do with the other. After dad brought the van home, he used it as his second car, until the driveshaft broke, at which point he decided it would be cheaper to junk it and replace it with a 91 Suburu Legacy wagon, which he had until he died in 2002. By then the Citation was pretty rusty too. We have no garage so the weather takes it's toll on our cars. I have stories of lots of other cars we had too -

That's Eddie Fluck, his father Ed was the owner of F&F Resin; don't know about mail order service but the hood I bought for a friend at MASSCAR was of excellent quality.
