  1. Just like all other race car kits, it's a combination of what Harry said, and the almighty dollar. As far as I have been able to determine, EACH indivigual contingency has to be liscened seperatly...Meaning tons and tons of money. Money that the kit companys just can't afford to spend.
  2. I have Art's...in fact, it's the only piece he did that I have. It looks like it'll be easier to build. I plan to do it as either a red car or a black car, as I have seen both versions locally and have quite a few refrence shots, although the red car is a closer match to the resin.
  3. Thanks for all the comments everyone!! Jamie, you bet I am hoping to debut it at LIARS this coming weekend...provided I can get there. I am sure it has no chance of winning anything, I just like to show it
  4. The mystery is solved! Nice refrence, Jonathan
  5. Indeed, I've met Jimmy many times, he's a funny guy. I don't know how to pronounce your name either! Of cource, I'm lucky I can pronounce my own...
  6. Let me guess...they call Gregg "Curly"??
  7. That was done by Matt Conte of Lookout models....Maybe he will put one on Ebay or even make you one if you ask nicely.
  8. Very nice Jairus. But the story of how it came to be is even better! Gotta love how Jimmy doesn't even worry about last names or even spelling first names right
  9. You don't need any fancy pants ###### for this ...Just simply lick your finger, rub the affected area, then dry it with your shirt. Works every time. I've done it many many times with no ill affect.
  10. This one took me a while. I started this back in March of 05. Yeah, it's been a while! I had originally planned on making this a Carl Edwards car but after I got the decals I couldn't NOT do this one. The Bud Shootout version is my favorite, with the gold numbers. For modifications, I : Sanded the lower grill off, opened the cowl vent (and wish I hadn't, as I did a poor job of it) and used a Mike's Scale Speed Shop resin dashboard. It's just a repop of the 06-07 Chevy dash but it's better then just cutting off the igniton boxes from the frame and gluing them on top of the dash like I had been doing. I also did the lugnuts diffrently then usual, in that I usually leave them silver, but I picked them out with a pinkish pen. Decals are JWTBM. Used Slixx to correct the Pennzoil which were printed badly. I do plan to do regular and Relief versions eventually as well. Oh yeah, this is my 75th completed NASCAR model Yeah, I have to put another coat of flat clear on the tires. Too uneven for one coat. Thanks for looking!
  11. I have the DeSoto. Mine is molded in yellow. I'm not sure that it IS styrene. It doesn't feel like it to me, it feels more like ABS. Amboid doesn't touch it which lends credence to my theory. It doesn't trim like regular styrene either.... I started working on mine, but I set it aside for now because I really didn't feel like doing ALL that BMF work needed! LOL!
  12. I bring my best completions of each year to a show. I usually only bring each model to one show one time, but, if it matched the theme of the show, it would come back. I am trying to convince the NNL East and MASSCAR shows (well, contest for MASSCAR) to have a NASCAR only class so I am going to flood them, bringing all the good ones so they see the number of NASCAR entrys is up...Way up...And I just finished my 75th NASCAR model... Also. if I should get to a new show or contest, like the MAMA's show, which I've been trying to get to for a few years, I would bring my best even though I built them several years back, or will be several years by that time.
  13. Right now I am planning on being there. Time will tell, but if it goes well I will be there again. I have to depend on a ride for this one, so it depends on Jim!
  14. Very cool Roberto! A lot of people underestimate Small Scale, but it's actually more challenging then 1/25. Great job, especially on the little details!
  15. Once you get the kits (which seems pretty well covered) it's basically just helping the kids in whatever they may need. Some have trouble getting parts off the trees, others have parts they can't get to fit, some get it like they've been doing it for years. At the Goodguys East Coast Nationals every year, we (the TNMCC) run the model show and the make & take. Every year we have a larger and larger increase in kids, so much so that we actually ran out of kits on BOTH days we did it this year! That's roughly 160 kits we went through, and Goodguys paid for all of them It'll make your day because some kids are just so excited about models and you can tell how much they really appreciate it. At Goodguys their parents stayed and helped with a handfull of club members guiding them in whatever steps were nessicary. Of the 15 or so members we had there, not a single one of us DIDN'T help in some way with the Make & Take. This year we used 32 Fords, and 57 Chevys. Last year we had the red plastic 57s as well as the 77 Monte Carlo. Year before that we had 63 Corvettes and even more 57 Chevys. Basically the snap-tight-du-jour
  16. Thanks Bill!! Yeah, I've been meaning to clean that out for more then a month now. I just havn't gotten to it yet! LOL!
  17. I have over 4000 saved on my Fotki, but very few interior/engine shots. You can hit the link in my signature, they are in the Stock Car Photo Archive.
  18. You just can't beat a Mustang! Very, very nice!!
  19. Very few people can take my absolute least favorite paint scheme for a particular body style, and still make it look good. This is one of those occasions, though, and Dave is one of those people! I don't care for the movie, I dislike the paint scheme, but that model sure is nice.
  20. That's why you're "King of the wrecks", Jamie!
  21. Two years already? Wow, I remember the day you posted the WIP thread on BAD. Good times. It looks great in person, too!!
  22. Gregg, I've been saying that for years...And have been routinely told that I'm crazy, by some highly respected modelers! Go figure. That is the only way to go with Tamiya, unless you do body modifications, which I rarely if ever do!
  23. I got two resin Ford Fusions from Mike's Scale Speed Shop, and the 57 Chevy Christmas Ornament for my birthday
  24. Thanks Dave and Phil! Yes indeed, today is #23. I got two resins for my birthday My brother gave me $100 early so I could spend it in Toledo. Bill Coulter has it now!
