  1. Matt, you came off lucky. A few years ago, before this forum even existed, I saw pictures of a model that was totally, 100% destroyed because it was sat on...not repairable. Happened at a model show somewhere, but I don't remember who or where. At least that stuff you had happen is repairable!! Seeing the photos of the squished model, I decided then and there that I would never put models on chairs...I've held to that for several years now!!
  2. My favorites were 52 and 77... Even not being in the military there are some of those I could use elsewhere By the way, this is the 3rd board I've seen this on
  3. Model Cars Magazine Forum > Model Cars > NASCARS At the top of the board, wehave these choices to click on...But the one in the middle, Model Cars, leads nowhere! Any chance you could make it lead somewhere? LOL! Or if not, why do they (the board makers) even have it on there? Seems odd to me!
  4. I didn't even know Jada was DOING plastic kits...It's news to me! Are they all the big wheel style? If so, I'll pass. Not much that's too interesting there for me. If they were to do a Mustang Convertible, however, I'd be all over that one. The only one that really interests me anything enough to even consider buying is that Mustang you've posted. Do you have a photo of the box? It doesn't sound good but I'd still like to see it.
  5. I've got to say, that is a much appreciated rule! When I first joined I thought it was kind of pointless, but over time I've come to realize that is one of the things that makes the board run so smoothly!
  6. I can't wait for the NNL...I'm already getting antsy for it...Being that I missed LIARS last year, I've not been to a model show since Toledo in October, so if there's any thing that will get you back in the mood it's the NNL East!!!
  7. I'm looking forward to the movie as well...Probably one that I will actually go to the theatre to see. (I do that VERY rarely). That's the only Anime I will even CONSIDER watching. I remember that used to be on MTV, of all places, back in the 1990s... Have you seen some of the toys they are soliciting for the movie? Some of it looks pretty wild-I won't blow anything but it sure looks crazy... With Polar Lights reissuing both versions of the kits, it'll give people like me the opportunity to build the kit-or build it again (like me!) I would not be surprised if some aftermarket company made whatever was needed to convert the PL kit to the movie car..
  8. Did he post on this forum? I'm afraid I don't know him. He's got my prayers anyway!!
  9. Hey, congrats on having a little girl! I hadn't heard that bit of news before right now. My mom's best friend just found out that she is having a (2nd) daughter too! I didn't realize you and Clay were around my age...I was born 10/18/84...not too many modelers it seems from this age group. So, I'm guessing by the title of the thread that the model no longer exists any more then, huh? I'm lucky in that I still have every one I've built, except the very first one from 1992. Some of them are held togther by zip lock bags, though....
  10. I've had two bizarre happenings like this in the past few years. Back around 2000, when I was just getting into building, I was going on AMT's new tool 58 Edsel. It was going along nicely, when all of a sudden one of my wheel axle/attachment points just falls right off the table. Looked and looked, even moved everything in the area...There's not a single space I didn't check, and I've gone over that area thousands of thousands of times. I never found that part! Luckily, someone on the ModelCarList sent me a spare one...unfortunatly time has clouded my memory of who. The other, happened earlier this year. Now, whenever I clean and take down my table I loose stuff, and in January of this year I took it down so I could sort and document my 1/64 street car collection. When I set it back up at the end of January, I discovered I lost the hood for my 1/64 2007 Clint Bowyer car! It had already been painted, and was waiting for decals. (I've since finished the rest of the car). It took one of the alligator clips I use with it!! I've looked everywhere I can think of, and I can't find it. I've lost some headlights too but who hasn't? The good thing about that is that everytime I've lost a headlight, I've been lucky enough to already have replacements in the parts box!
  11. That's a good groups of things to start off with-some stuff I'll be getting for sure. I had been looking for a stock 70 Super Bee for a while, glad to see I'll have the chance to buy a brand new one. The 60 Starliner 2 in 1 is the big one for me though. I'll need about 8 of them. (And I already have 4!) Those are great kits, and convert nice and easily to NASCAR use...which is exactly my plan for them! I've never seen the 51 Chevy convertible in person before...but I've heard about it. I'll have to get one, of cource. I've been fighting with a Hardtop for a while, what I'm trying to do with it has not been working too well. But, it's a great kit, anyway! If the Convertible is the same basic tooling, just with a different body, then it should be great as well. BUT, the big news here, I think, is the return of MPC as a viable brand! Having been off the shelves for 17 years, it'll be cool to have it back! I never had the opportunity to buy a new MPC kit-the name was dropped nearly a decade before I began building, so what I have gotten has all been as back-issues. Cool! (even though I only plan to get one of the kits this time by) I just took a look at the website, (posting my thoughts just solely on the list) and the boxart for the 51 Chevy looks great...and the box for the 80 Monte Carlo may even prompt me to buy one of them anyway, even though I already have one and don't really have any solid uses for a future. I also see that both versions of the Mach V from Speed Racer are being reissued...I love to see that! I mangled one of them several years ago, and it will be great to have a second chance. I didn't even paint it the first time around, everything is solid white plastic...that's the kind of crazy stuff I did at the time. The fully detailed kit is actually a highly underrated kit, with lots of detail and even some fancy working parts. Can't wait to go at that one again! If I could make one suggestion for a possible reissue- The Polar Lights NASCAR kits! They are starting to sell for upwards of $25 dollars each, and for the volume I need them in, I can't do that. The success of the Model King NASCAR kits should prove just how viable they would be as sellers. (The Torino/Cyclone chassis fits PERFECTLY in the 73 Cyclone MK just did...and is accurate!) Edit x3- As much as I've been going on about the kits, I've got to say that I'll probably spend most of my money on the display cases...I love those. I have more then 25 of them stacked up as my display already, and I've gotten to the point where I have built more models worth of a case then cases in my display. You can see that I've taken to stacking loose models in front of the cases I have so that'll have to be rectified!
  12. Ahh, I love those number sheets. Lots of cool things hidden on there. The only one that supposedly comes with a suppliment is the final one on there...I bought my copy directly from Slixx and there was NO suppliment in there.
  13. That looks great, Dave, as usual. About 2 years ago I was given a Ford that's complete, but I have no usuable decals to put on it....been wanting to build it since. Way back on BAD when I was looking for photos of the #64 Sunny King Ford car, I had a guy that was supposedly willing to make me some decals, but never heard from him again.
  14. Which sheet was it you bought? Knowing Cyberwombat, I'm going to take an educated guess that it's a NASCAR sheet. By law, Slixx can no longer sell ANYTHING related to NASCAR, not even their old stock. (Except their number sheets, which I don't think they ever bothered to liscence, and the contingency sheets, which are). If it is indeed a NASCAR decal, there are other places to get it.
  15. I would be interested in a stock version as well...I love oddball cars like that!
  16. I added nearly 200 photos and more then a half dozen new albums. Updated many things, but mostly models in progress. I had been doing a lot of work-notable work, with visible progress-and not taking any photos. Some projects that I worked on as long ago as 2006 and never photographed, many models are making their internet debut. Things that didn't go well got photographed too.. Some of the indivigual models albums got updated for the first time in 2 years. Some were eliminated and merged into other albums. I also added some more to the aftermarket. New stuff all over, and too much to post all the photos or even a link to every new photoed album. The marquee updates however are in the two main Models in progress albums. Thanks for looking, if you choose to! http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/ Look for the New icon and the new photos have a orange photo # box. Here's a sample of a project that I've never photographed before...
  17. Here are some photos of the actual pink #K2. There are better quality photos of the car out there, HOWEVER, they are of a not anywhere near accurate reproduction. Hope they help! The pink paint scheme on this car came about EXACTLY like Petty Blue did...a mixture of white and another color. For Petty, it was blue and became a legend. For Earnhardt, it was red and became something only us diehards know about! Note that the roof is a different color.
  18. That's actually a pretty cool idea...Would you be suppling the balls or are we on our own to find our own sets of balls? Heh, that must sound really bad...
  19. Most of mine do...If the kit is made so they do, then they do, but I don't make them roll that aren't molded to, and sometimes ones that should, don't.
  20. Good Luck Bob...I'll be praying for you!!
  21. Very nice! I can't wait until the NNL East so I can get my hands on some of Mike's newer decals....
  22. You could save yourself a lot of trouble by purchasing the SMH resin body! The rear side windows are slightly differently shaped..You could probably leave that alone on a black car, but on a light color car it would need to be addressed!
  23. Very nice James! For being away from NASCAR for so long it's not hurting your building any! I posted mis-information earlier in the thread. I said that they did not have the sponsor on for the 500...they DID...They had no sponsor for the Twin 125 and put Nationwise on the car the night before the 500...Sorry!
  24. Hi Dirk, I've been collecting Hot Wheels since 1985 at least! ( I was born in 84!). In fact I just spent a week and a half in January sorting my entire collection for the first time ever. I pretty much stopped in 2000 however, to focus solely on NASCAR, and that's also when I started building Models big time. Now I wish I didn't stop though! James, good choice...I just got those decals recently myself...They can't build an accurate 1989 car, they don't have the DurAlt and some of the smaller stuff...Fred Cady's decals has the DurAlt though, (which I have a set of) and eventually I'll build both versions....
  25. Here's my latest batch. This is all I've gotten done this year. Not much! From left to right: 1970 Ray Elder 1989 Mark Martin 1994 Rick Carelli 1994 Jimmy Horton 1995 Hardee's (several drivers drove it) 2006 Casey Mears Thanks!
