1950 chevy p/u spare tire fenders
Billy Kingsley replied to 408models's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Do you sell them seperatly? I want one for the left side only. I don't want to click that link because I know if I do I'll be there the rest of the week looking at pictures -
Had a great time, as usual. Actually this was the best NNL Nationals I've had! Did anybody catch the date for next year's event? I missed it! My mom took these photos, they are better then the ones I took and more of them, as well! http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/mode...tionals-29-mom/ And these are mine! It was my first time selling models ever! I still have the Tbuggy, Racer's Wedge/Camper, Ala Kart, Rolls Royce and 59 Corvette which is missing the big wheels and tires. I planned to use the funds from the sale of the models to buy stuff in the vendor room so I didn't get everything I wanted but I was able to get some cool stuff anyway. If that Corvette had the big wheels and tires, I literally could have sold that a dozen times over. I guess I should not have given the wheels and tires away! I don't know if I'll do it again, maybe I will bring these back next year or list them on eModelCars or something. Gregg at work! four of the 20 TNMCC Snaptight Project cars made the trip to Toledo, Doug Whyte's and mine, in this photo, and Jim Devine and Rick Hanmore brought theirs as well. We all got these kits on September 14th with the deadline of October 6th to have them done, and 20 showed up! My build actually sparkles like crazy in the sun, but it just does not photograph. It's Testors One Shot Lacquer blue with Model Master Lacquer AMC Sterling Silver Metallic and it has a thread in the Under Glass section, probably on page two or three now, or even lower. It shouldn't be too hard to find, as I don't start many threads in there! One of my builds got photographed! Not by MCM though. It's only the second time a model of mine has gotten a photo card under it! http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/mode...nationals-2008/ Billy

George, sounds like you are HOOKED!! I had a great time chatting with you! Did anybody catch the date for next year's show? I missed it! -

The Party WAS here at Red Roof! You all missed it who weren't here. Lots of Canadians showed up! I sold 3 of the 12 kits I brought, I hope to sell the rest tomorrow morning at the AM Swapmeet! -
I will be there...going to roll in on Thursday night, first stop, Steak N Shake! Also stop by and see me in Red Roof Friday night and buy some of the models I am bringing to sell. It's not too much but if I don't sell them I won't be buying any resin this year...and you all want the aftermarket to survive right? (This is probably the only time I will ever sell models from my collection-and I have at least one kit coming that is older then I am!) Don't forget the NASCAR Summit at the Red Roof's Confrence Room after the NNL Ends. We'll be watching the race, disgussing the sport and modeling in general...NASCAR and others..might even be some free food! (chips, etc) I can't wait...the ride is a killer but the NNL is worth it year after year...

Should I quit modeling?
Billy Kingsley replied to ericmaxman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While I am not familiar with Malysian laws (sorry if I spelled the name of your home country wrong) I am going to guess that you are on the younger side. Here in the US you can do pretty much whatever you want once you reach 18 years of age. Explain to your mom that you could be A) spend your money on drugs and alcohol, or join a gang. I am absolutley SURE your mother would not want that. Also, building models is good for your hand-eye co-ordination. Explain to her that in working with the parts you do, could help you in a future career. Perhaps there is a hobby shop you could walk to? It should be a good compromise-you do more walking and exercize, and you get to see what's new and perhaps bring home a new kit or two to build. This would of cource require you to have a local shop and not be forced to mail order like so many builders are. I think it might be possible that she is worried about fumes-perhaps you should spray paint outside, if you don't already. This also leaves very little chance of paint getting on her carpet, walls or anywhere else, plus, the repeated trips outside has to count for something. Have you thought about asking her to build one with you? She may not understand how much joy it brings you and perhaps doesn't even understand all the work and effort you put into it-perhaps building one with her could change that. I hesitate to say this, but you might want to keep track of your models. I've read far too many stories where builder's parents have tossed their models in the garbage on the first chance they got (seemingly), and most of the stories are prefaced with tales of their parents thinking it was a waste of time and money. To Spike, tell your dad that this is a lifelong hobby-there are members here into their 70s! Also let him know that some modelers sell models to people and get well into the triple digits for each one. As for myself, I am lucky in that my mom is totally supportive-it was actually her idea for me to start building in the first place! (I was 15 at the time) -
Not yet Bob but hopefully soon. I've already found a better set of wheels and tires, and robbed an engine from my parts box (a big block Chevy from the Monogram 39) and I'm sure I'll do some more work to it before I get it done. Hope to start it this week. I still have to decide on a color, too. I doubt I'll get it done for Toledo, unless it just falls togther...but I am not going to hold my breath, the kit looks a little rough!
-
Bob, that's great news!! Keep on healing!

I wonder how many Black Force Slammers have given their lives for other model projects? Probably sold more of them for parts then for building! LOL! Looking at you two guy's Merc Wagons is making me think I might have to get one of them for myself, in time. I just have to finish my engine and my Merc will be done too, and it'll come to Toledo weather or not the engine gets done-I bet no one else will come up with THIS color combo! And to think I wasn't even planning on buying one of these in the first place!!

Juha Airio came to town.
Billy Kingsley replied to Modellpularn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Juha is an inspiration to us all. I hear he's incredibly humble as well. Someday I hope to meet him, and just shake his hand and say "Thanks for everything you've done for modeling". Unfortunatly I'm not big on planes or boats so I doubt I'll ever get to visit you folks! -
Thanks guys! Much appreciated! Neal, glad to send them to you! Some people were asking about you at Rhinebeck, I guess it was a couple you saw at three seperate shows each year? I don't know I didn't talk to them but my mom did.

I will be there and will likely be selling some stuff out of my room at Red Roof on Friday night. If I have anything left, I'll be set up in the parking lot as a seller for the first time ever. That is of cource if the guys in the TNMCC don't buy everything first! -

I think the Revell kit was 1999 -
I was not aware of that, Bill...My knowledge pretty much stops at the body!

Toledo is a GO!
Billy Kingsley replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very cool Bob...maybe this year I will actually run into you when you aren't surrounded by about 50 people waiting to talk! -
Ron @ RMR (Race Motor Replicas) is one of the absolute best-a geat guy to talk to and a great selection of stuff-I have more items from his line of resin then anybody else! I've got pictures of most but not all that I have from his line here- http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/mode...ket/resin--rmr/

At the TNMCC meeting earlier this month every member got a Revell 34 Ford Coupe Snaptight, with the intention was to bring them back to the October meeting done...well, this past weekend the GoodGuys East Coast Nationals occured, and I wanted to have mine there, so I did! The only shortcut I had to take was no clearcoat-I'm fresh out! I may or may not add some in the future, I am not sure. The car is held togther by screws so all I'd have to do is take it apart. (and mask off the running boards, which are acrylic!) It is box stock except for the liscence plate which came out of my parts box. The blue paint is the new Testors One Shot Lacquer and the fenders are Model Master Lacquer AMC Sterling Silver Metallic. I love the One shot lacquer! I tested all of them on spare bodies and this is the first time it appears on an actual model. Enjoy the pictures! I'm really upset that I got a hair in the paint on the left rear fender. The blue area on the fender unit didn't come out very good either.

It's Tom Geiger's 50th. Birthday.
Billy Kingsley replied to Modlguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, happy birthday Tom! Mom says happy birthday as well! -
Wow, that sounds cool. Hope it's true. I could think of at least 7 57 Oldsmobiles I'd build. The King's first car was a 57 Olds, father Lee had at least two, and they fielded at least three for Ralph Earnhardt, even! I'd be up for some Buicks, too... What company are these being rumored from? I'm wondering if they would be from Revell, using the chassis of the forthcoming 57 Chevy Black Widow/150? The NEW AMT has promised new tools as well....The Olds and Buick could share some parts, no? (And a Pontiac could draw from the same tooling...)

Don't forget Johnny Beauchamp, also from Harlan, Iowa!
