  1. There were a few 49 and/or 50 Mercurys run. Not too many. I don't have much scanned on line but go to your local book store and page through a most excellent book called The NASCAR Chronicle or The Illustrated History of NASCAR, both by Greg Feilden. Actually, it's the same book, the latter just has a padded cover. There are I think 3 or 4 different 49/50 Mercurys photographed in the book. At least two different!
  2. It looked even better in person! Seeing even a small part of what went into it though, makes it even more amazing!
  3. Thanks for the comments guys! It really came out just the way I wanted it to look! Sure wish I could afford a real one that looked just like this Now that Gregg switched the board over to the new brown style (Comfy) that bar is gone! I am quite happy with the browser I have now, if it were up to me I'd still be using Windows 98 and the IE that was current back in 2000!
  4. I'm going to stick with the brown. I post on more then a dozen message boards and that makes this one totally unique, most are boring bland blue and white!
  5. I would hate to lose Lindberg. Yeah, they may not have been as great traditionally as AMT, Revell, Monogram et cetera. But they still had a lot to offer to the modeling world, and their plans for 2010 and beyond seemed to me to be very ambitious and long reaching. If it is true, I hope the tooling is saved. Maybe Round2 can get their hands on it and work some of the magic they have with the AMT/MPC/Polar Lights company(s). That would be ironic too in that it would reunite the 1934 Ford pickup with AMT.
  6. I don't know what you are talking about Seriously, I hit post then edited the photos in because there is a bar across the typing window with the new style board, and I type my code in manually and wanted to make sure it would be correct.
  7. Here's one I started sometime last year. Even though it's a pretty simple kit, I only got to finishing it a few days ago. I knew before I purchased it that I would be building it as if I could afford a real one. If I had a real one, there is no doubt it would be painted Sublime Green, my all time favorite High Impact color! Other than the color, it was built factory stock. I decided to leave off the R/T graphics, but I left the stripes. I have to say, I've used over 200 kit decals, and none have ever been as good as the kit decals from this one! It was the first I've used from the New AMT, and I was very, very impressed! Without further ago, here are the pictures: I didn't bother setting up the photo set up, so the old standby Jeep hood did the trick!
  8. Thanks for the comments guys! This was photographed by the other magazine at the NNL East
  9. I've done both non-competitive shows like NNLs and full on judged competitions, as both an observer and a entrant/competitor. The only thing that I would change across the board is that they are way too short! No matter what kind of event or how much time you are there, it's never enough! There's never enough time to see every model, there's never enough time to see all your friends, and there's nowhere near enough time to try and get both in!
  10. Hey George where you been man that was 32 issues ago! LOL! Thanks though! LOL @ Mike. Ken has a good point with the chrome too. I had forgotten that. I wanted to build a mild custom when I did the Aerosedan (note the raised rear suspension, and some of the kit custom parts on the engine if you looked at the album!) but for a factory stock build-what I would do ideally if I had the Aerosedan- would prove to be a little diffacult. I would suppose that is why no other kits have done the trim like that since then, if I am correct! Maybe I will nab an Aerosedan at the NNL East this weekend!
  11. I love the Galaxie 48 Chevy kits. I have only ever had the Sedan Delivery though I have been looking for a copy of the Aerosedan. I hope they get reissued some day as I would like an Aerosedan and another shot at the Sedan Delivery. While the kits do have a lot of parts and a lot of detail, they are actually quite simple to build. The hood fit issues are actually the only thing that is keeping me from declaring that these kits are perfect. Literally, they are THAT good! A few years back, I had started my sedan delivery and painted it Model Master Lacquer (MML) Phoenecian Yellow but didn't really like the paint job so put it back away. Jairus came on here asking for photos of the built kit to run in a Galaxie ad in MCM. I pulled the kit out and took it from a painted body to a finished model in two days time. Sure it had a lot of parts but they all fit so perfectly that it was a snap to build the kit! Here are some pictures... Here is a whole album of pictures: http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/individual_models/1947chevysedandelivery/#media To this day, I consider it the best model I've ever built. It was also the 200th model I built, but that was a total coincidence, as I didn't discover that info out until I had finished three more models that week and typed them into my charts!
  12. Ouch man, sorry to see that. It must have hit at just the wrong angle!
  13. Here's what I'm thinking: The Prius body, set up to tilt, on a monster truck chassis with the Allison engine low-slung underneath, or perhaps sticking out the back...Perhaps aimed up so it sticks out the back window, which would be removed...final decision would not be possible until the kits were in hand and test fitting could be done! I'm thinking painted neon green with a motto/name on the side. A part of me wants that to be "Al Gore's Revenge" ...Might be insane, yes, but that's OK! I would also consider "Mean Green" or I'm open to suggestions...
  14. Thanks guys! Comments are much appreciated Jerry: Praise from Caesar! Andy: Now I just have to finish the other 88 NASCAR models I have in progress, and the unknown number of street cars! LOL! Thanks again, guys
  15. Thanks again for the comments!
  16. I'm game if you guys are Can't guarentee that I wouldn't make a Allison-powered Prius Monster Truck though...LOL I even have a monster truck kit that I ruined the body on that would make a perfect donor!!
  17. This is just a sample picture to whet your appetite...to see more, go over to the NASCAR section and see the writeup and more pictures!
  18. Here is one that is a major victory for me. I have been fighting with the Polar Lights Chargers for years, since 2004 when I began building NASCAR kits. And now, finally, I have conquered them! I have had this out to work on it several times, and they all ended up back in the box, with me frustrated. But this time, I got it done! It's not the greatest build, I started it so long ago I didn't remove the mold lines, and I decaled it despite runs in the paint, things I would not do anymore. But it still feels great to have it done, finally! It's the Polar Lights kit (Only the second I've ever built) with Yesterday's decals, Modelhaus wheels and Slixx tire decals. The front suspension has been marginally lowered. The paint is Tamiya Pure White. The red on the wheels is actually Ford Engine red, it seemed to match the decal stripes and numbers. It may not be perfect, but it's a major building milestone for me and I am pleased to have it done!
  19. Glad to see you on here Erick! That looks nice. I remember when that car was new. Hard to believe it was 11 years ago now!
  20. Wish I could George but the funds just aren't there! Bummer!
  21. Charlie, I have not seen his Pontiac SD...but what about the Monogram 53 Chevy chassis? Just a wild guess! With the way I've been feeling and building lately, I would not be surprised if a resin or two of Jimmy's came home from the NNL East with me!
  22. That would be wild! I have no Allison engine to put in it though.
  23. Thanks for the comments guys! And thanks for the help with the wheels! I didn't know they changed mid year...I don't know much about Mopars, to be honest, I know the most about Chevrolets! I might address the silver area between the wheel dish and the "bullet" or I may just let it sit the way it is...Not going to try to color in the Plymouth wording I don't think! Ed,actually I don't build that many El Caminos! I have not built one in a few years actually! LOL! I mainly do NASCAR! Thanks Again!!
