77gmc wrecker
Bige37 replied to Bige37's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys! I have the truck finished just have to take some better pics -
So I started work on this wrecker twoonths ago and forgot to take poctures from the start! So I cut the molded engine out from the cab and chassis, fabed some engine mounts and used the engine from the billy carter chevy kit. I used some ribbon for a poncho that I wrapped around the back of the seat. I used testors metalizer aluminum on the rear deck then black washed it. I used pins for the control sticks and the white stripe and reflector decals from the 77 gmc plow truck on the cab, mud flaps and rear end. I'm making a hood jack out of guitar string. I used model car garage's under hood insulation for the hood and I found some .45mm silver metallic bead wire that I'm using for the cable! So far it's coming along nicely

Very nice work! That is the same kit that I was gonna get to build a replica of my 1:1 84' silverado! Thanks for the inspiration -
Stated work on this Pete! Pics of my progress to come! So far I really enjoy this kit although I had one misshap and that was I attached the price that the radiator and engin mount to backwards so I had to remove it flip around and with some minor sanding I was able to save it!

77 gmc wrecker and gmc pick up kit bash
Bige37 replied to Bige37's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So kataranga that's the cab from the gmc kit with the plow? I might just take the bed from the wrecker. And modify the chassis to fit the bed and wheels! Thanks everyone for the advice! -
So I recently purchased the 77 Gmc wrecker from revelle. I don't like the molded in engine on the wrecker so I was wondering if the cab from the 77 gmc snow plow lit would fit the chassis for the wrecker I haven't purchased snow plow kit I built one and seen the wrecker and thought it would be a cool build. Has anyone done this or tried this any tips on it would be great thanks in advance

77' GMC pickup

Thanks! I really like this kit gonna have to do another! But, my next project will be a replica of my old 1:1 1984 silverado 3/4 ton so I'm ordering the 1984 chevy Amt kit fromodel roundup! -
Well I started this a week ago gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised by this kit really no fit issues except with the rear of the cab I had to shave a little of the interior tub to get the back panel to fit right. It didn't have a master cylinder or any real good under the hood details so I stole a master cylinder from a Camaro fits fine looks better. I might do some more detail under the hood but I don't yet. I made a hole in the seat and added a cushion made from an old make up sponge. I made some rust through weathered it using the hairspray method. I stoked the wheels in grout cleaner along with the bumpers I might add some valve stems to the wheels. The engine from the kit is not real accurate I didn't have a 350 or a 305 in my parts box so I stole an air cleaner from a Chevelle and the manifold and carb from a impala not accurate but the work again didn't have the right ones in my parts box! Not finished yet I don't know if I want to add the plow or not I have some old tires I might add to the bed along with some other junk also purchased a tread plated tool box for the bed

Thanks for the good words! Yeah I was sceptic all of this kit of any snap tite kit really but with a little doctoring it turned out good I'm thinking of getting the snap tite freight liner next! I have the revel 359 peterbuilt coming in a few days that's gonna go with the texaco tanker bring on winter! Whoo hoo!
