Hi all well its finished (I just wish I had the steady hand I had in my youth) still not happy with the wheels. My missus must like it as she wants it displayed on the mantlepiece. The keen eyed among you may notice the belt is missing from the flywheel, im just waiting for a piece of leather from my mate Roy to arrive and that will be corrected.

Hi all my boss asked me to build this for him. I made a start

Hi all my boss asked me to build this kit for him but as a GTS First thin on my list (there is so much on the list) The kit is for a 6 spark engine(the GTS was 12 spark) so 12 HT leads and 2 coils, so cut the first coil off the fan shroud (not mounted there on a GTS) and cut the distributor off to make room for the new 12 spark one. Here is what the kit supplies So i cut it off Heres a start the new distributor Still got to add the 2 coil wires but OK for a start. Luckily we have the car he wants it modeled on at work (so no shortage of reference pics) (There is so much to change)

Hi all well I had a cunningly clever plan for the pin stripes on the wheels, turned out it was neither cunning nor cleve. I thought I would get some green insulating tape cut thin strips off and stick them on (turns out its almost impossible to cut thin enough strips consistently and even when you do its incredibly stretchy and shrinks back to size withing about 10 seconds of sticking it. So back to hand painting I don't like to think how many hours of painting and repainting have gone into what I've got done here (and im not even half way there) and im not anything like happy with it. When I did this in my teens I remember being really chuffed with the finish I achieved then, I don't think I will ever be chuffed with the finish I achieve now.

Got the exhaust on and more experimental metal effects, a word of warning to anyone building this kit and painting parts of it the black shiny plastic is of a different type of plastic to the rest of the kit I sprayed the cowl for the fan (with the same type of paint used everywhere else) the plastic on the cowl has crazed and cracked (and that's even with using plastic safe primer) im hoping a layer of filler sanded down then sprayed over will fix it.

Hi all one of the advantages of having a 547 engine completely dismantled at work is loads of reference material, for instance this main drive gear should have 6 30 mm holes in it, 1/3 equates to 10 mm I also took the half I'm painting aluminium to work to vapour blast it (for a cast effect) And the first coat of the casting effect

So I've started the crankshaft and piston. I've built the casings of the half I'm going to paint, we have a machine at work called a vapour blaster which we use to clean engine parts which I'm hoping to use to give these parts a cast look (it uses tiny glass beads and is only supposed to remove 30 microns on metal parts will try it on a piece of sprue first)

Hi all got this for my birthday, I'm well impressed, the instruction manual is a thing of beauty I've never seen one like it before. It is full of history and information also loads of beautiful pictures of the cars this engine was in. The actual instructions make up about a third of the manual and are also beautifully printed and clear to follow. The box is huge, good quality and stuffed to the brimm with high quality plastic. I'm intending to build this as half see through rather than completely see through as is intended with the kit
