  1. The kit comes with 2 chopped windows. Clear and blue tint. Bill
  2. Hi Gerald, Thanks, The chop was pretty easy. I just cut along the marks on the insides of the roof post, sanded the cuts straight and glued the chopped roof into place. Bill
  3. That would be great. Thanks. Bill
  4. Those are real nice. I'm not clear on how you do that. Could you show how you do it. Thanks, Bill
  5. Hi Bill, I have always liked the salt flats racers too. I remember when I was a kid in the 60's, it seemed like all of the car magazines spent a lot of time at Bonneville. It seemed like there was a lot of action at the salt flats during that time. Bill
  6. Thanks Bruce, I think I will use a engine from Gibson Engines and salt flats wheel discs from Parts by Parks. They have both of these at Model Roundup. Bill
  7. Don't know what happened to some of the pictures in my first post my first post. So I will post it again. Bill
  8. Hi Guys, Alright, starting my next adventure. It's going to be a 53 Studebaker Bonneville salt flats racer. I am starting out with the AMT Mr Speed reissue. It is going to be highly modified. Chopped roof, front end will hinge forward. Not sure what I will use for a power plant, it will most likely be a after market product. I have gotten the roof chopped and glued into place. Bill
  9. Hi Tye, Great tip, thanks. Bill
  10. Hi Gene, I'm just going to clean up the edges some and finish the model. I'm just getting back into building, so I am looking at these things as experience for future builds. Overall, I am pleased with how it has turned out, so far. The biggest thing is that I am enjoying building again and meeting everyone on this site. I am looking forward to my next build. Bill
  11. Hey Jesse, Thanks for the tip. I will try the Tamiya tape on my next adventure. Bill
  12. Hi All, Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Well the basic paint is down on the body. I am not very happy with results. Too much seepage under the edge of the tape. I used a good quality 3m masking tape, but I am sure there is something better on the market for models. I am using this as a learning process as I am just getting back into building. I would look forward to any suggestions for masking edges. So onward we go. Bill
  13. Merry Christmas to everyone. Can't wait to open my next projects. Bill
  14. Hi Gene, Thanks for the comments. No real problems. I did have a small amount of seepage under one section of masking tape. I'm sure I just didn't get that area of tape down well. Yes, I plan to add some chrome to the interior. Merry Christmas to you and to everyone on this site. Bill
  15. I have the white on the body and just put the blue on the roof. Bill
  16. The basic interior is finished. Can't see much through the windows, so I didn't spend much time on it. Really, I'm trying to figure out how to post better pictures. Bill
  17. Thanks Gene. Compared to when I was young, there is so much more in the way of tools and materials available to help make a good looking model. I remember when I first started detailing models, we would use sewing thread for spark plug wires. Things sure have changed in 40 years. Bill
  18. Some more work done to the engine bay. Bill
  19. I got the engine and radiator mounted. Bill
  20. Got some work done on the radiator. The hose mounting holes and the overflow hose were on the wrong side, so I re-drilled the holes and cut off the overflow hose and replaced it with a piece of 22 gauge wire.
  21. Hi Gene, Thanks for the kind words. My picture posting needs some work. I need to work on my camera, computer, knot-head interface. Bill
  22. I just checked out "Model Roundup" and they appear to have the Parts by Parks salt flats discs. Has anyone purchased from them. Bill
  23. Thanks for the help guys. Snake45: thanks for the offer. I will look at the model and if they look like they will work I will let you know.
  24. Hi Guys, I'm looking for some 1:25 scale Bonneville salt flats dish type wheel covers or wheels for a future build. Does anyone make after market sets. Thanks, Bill
  25. Have to work on my picture taking skills. Bill
