  1. Got the base coat on the body shell. It’s Scale Finishes Shamrock Green (a mystery color).
  2. There’s a hobby shop in Muskegon? Any good?
  3. My dad gave this to me yesterday. It’s a 1963 boxing, and it’s dead mint! Even the decals look good.
  4. I found a very nice period correct transmission on cults3d, and a bell housing from Scale Speed Garage. After a little scaling down and massaging, they should work out fine. To make everything fit, I shortened them by 2mm each. Here is the modified print next to the original. And here you can see some of the “massaging” that was required. Without filing the upper corner of the trans, it interferes with the interior tub. This isn’t visible after assembly. Mockup with the body shell. Problem solved! As you can see here, I also sanded off all traces of the running boards. About a week ago, I was twisting the floor pan to try to remove a slight twist. The old plastic has become brittle with time, and cracked right across the drivers side running board. So I’m going to try for the smooth look. We’ll see how I feel about it after primer.
  5. It’s new tool. I haven’t built it, but it looks really nice.
  6. Wife and I took a road trip into Michigan yesterday. Muskegon store had all of the Revell kits that I’ve seen posted here recently. I picked up two of the ‘32 Fords and a Jaguar.
  7. Yup. Totally agree with you there too. I also have to figure out how I’m going to attach either option to the back of the engine and make it look half way decent. One way or another, it’ll be interesting. I keep jumping into these projects with ideas that are over my head. 😂
  8. Agreed. I don’t think I’ll use that transmission though. I’ll either see if I can find one to print, or cut the one off of the kit engine and use it. Seems like a shame to go that route though. This engine has soooo much detail, and the kit trans is pretty bland.
  9. I’ve been thinking about engine options. I want a Ford engine, so I’m going to try to stuff this in. Fresh off the printer, Windsor with multiple Weber carb options. The file is from 3DVM on Cults 3D, and it looks outstanding. He gives you a lot of options too.
  10. Ohhhh…. I need one of those! Sounds like a road trip to me.👍
  11. Which ‘32 are you guys talking about?
  12. Not sure yet. Maybe matt aluminum with chrome trim rings?
  13. Hey guys, I began the process of bringing this old Ford back to life this weekend. No idea why I chose now to do this. Like I don’t have enough other projects (including two group builds that are sitting stalled). Saturday I was bouncing around on about half a dozen different kits, just tinkering basically. Somehow this one grabbed my attention. This was a build I had completed years ago. Molded in yellow plastic, I shot clear coat on it, did some detail painting, and called it done. Years later, it was falling apart and in a pretty sad state overall. This would have been 10-15 years ago I think. So I tore it apart and started doing a little body work to it. Mild custom stuff. Keep in mind, at that point, I didn’t know jack about paint. So I hit the body with one big heavy coat of primer, and bang! All the louvers I had removed were back! Now I understand why, but I had no clue back then. So into the box it went. Fast forward to last Saturday. All the louvers (and a few other mods) have been fixed, and it’s in primer now. And no, I didn’t bomb it on there this time around.😂 I have a pretty clear vision of what I’m going for, but I’m sure it’ll evolve as I go along. Check it out! The original box is long gone, but I think this was it. Tires are from the most recent Revell Trans Am kit. I’m completely hooked on printing my own wheels now. This was a set I had done early on. Opinions? This is pretty close to the stance I want. That’s it for now. Having fun with the old ‘32. At least until another squirrel comes along!
  14. Thanks everyone for your kind comments! They mean a lot to me! This was a labor of love, a real learning experience, and a lot of fun. 👍
  15. Thanks Carl! A lot of work went into those exhaust pipes. They’re made from brass and aluminum tubing. The main pipes were brass that was primered and painted steel. I left the mufflers raw, unpainted aluminum. Nothing looks more like metal than real metal. For weathering, I used Tamiya clear red and blue, and as I recall, MrColor clear violet. These were airbrushed and blended at the edges. I wasn’t totally happy with the results of that by itself though. It looked too toy-like. So then I used Tamiya weathering powders to blend the colors together better. That made the effect a little more subtle. They sure aren’t perfect, but not bad for a first attempt.
  16. It’s all wrapped up and under glass now. Here’s the link:
  17. Finished this one up a couple of weeks ago. Long story short, I built this as a present for my dad. It’s his favorite car. Today I presented it to him and he loved it! I pushed my personal limits with this build, and used several different techniques and products I’d never tried before. To start with, the wheels, tires, brakes, carburetors, and MSD ignition box are all 3D printed in my shop. The technology has opened up so many possibilities for me. I can see uses on just about every project going forward. The exhaust was made from brass and aluminum tubing, and then painted and heat stained. The interior was flocked, another first for me. While I think it came out ok, it’s a technique I need to practice. Paint- MCW Finishes Midnight Blue Metallic lacquer was used. This is sort of a special color for my dad. He’s owned several dark blue cars, including three 60’s Mustangs in this exact shade. This was my first time spraying lacquer, and it certainly won’t be the last. Great stuff! Without further ado, here is my take on the AMT ‘40 Ford coupe. Happy birthday dad! Here’s a link to the wip:
  18. I’m thinking the chassis plate is done. Did a little bit of weathering with Tamiya powders. Opinions? Too much? I want to keep it fairly subtle, but definitely used.
  19. Got the 302 essentially done. At least as far as I plan to take it until more test fitting is done. I also flocked the interior with embossing powder. First time using it and I think I like the look better than flocking. No pics of that. It’s a pretty sloppy job, but the seats should hide the mess.😂
  20. Subtle? Yeah, I sorta missed that memo !😂
  21. I think the new turbo looks better. My first thought when I saw the original was "Wow, that's a huge turbo!"😁
  22. Wow, that looks mean already! Very cool build.
  23. Just printed some wheels for the Camaro. They’re very close to the original kit wheels, but these will make it easier to add disc brakes.
