Hey everybody thought id give another update on said compressor, been a few months now , once I got the regulator everything works great (customer service WAS GREAT,they sent out reg right away),this thing is really quiet, wife was down in basement when I was painting and it kicked on ,she turned around to me and said whats that funny noise,i said the air compressor, she started laughing said does it even blow out air,she was so use to the old one she use to hear it up 3 flights of stairs, don't get me wrong it still an auditable noise but sooooo much quieter, can actually have a normal level conversation when its running,im actually going to get another one if they go back on sale around the holidays.oh and with the size tank it has seems like it takes a while before it kicks on,any way im happy with it make modeling more enjoyable with out have a ear splitting sound, also don't laugh but im now spraying EVERYTHING even the small parts with my spray brush cause I seem to be able to dial in really low pressure for smaller things, use brushes just for little bit of touch ups.

Hey everyone ,I purchased a California air ,air compressor model 5510se,used it just for a couple days but so far really impressed ,have an emglo that been using as a all around compressor for about 15 yrs , but the thing was just ear splitting when used in side,so bought the said compressor from home d for $136.00 ON SALE ,let me get the negatives out of way ,first off right off the bat the regulator was junk didnt work properly called California air said they were shipping one out,i can still use compressor just regulator not shutting air off when you unhook from disconnect ,and if you try to mount a regulator combo watertrap type it wont fit unless you extend it out from the tank a little bit.that being said,,the compressor came plug and play,no leaks anywhere what so ever, and very quiet, dosent take long to recharge tank, holds pressure all night and then some, the thing I am going to change is the air tank drain,im going to extend it out ,liitle cumbersome all way under the tank, cant get over how quiet this is as you can tell very happy bout that.as to weather or not this compressor can do other choirs,,,,don't care I bought it JUST for my airbrushing, and the quietness.so I think for $136.00 THAT WAS a pretty good investment, for Me.hope this helps ,any questions about it just ask ,try to answer.

hey guys I just ordered a California air 5510 ,does anyone have any experience with these for us model builders ,I use a paashe h,and an iwata revolution, I have an emglo compressor with the two stacked tank ,and man is that thing ear splitting ,hd has them on sale delivered to home for 127.00 bucks, so I ordered one ,they typically go for up to 200.00,just wandering if it would be able to handle my air hungry paashe h it seems to have gotten some decent reviews.just cant find any from model building community

thanks everyone,i showed the granddaughter the comments , she was excited, but I got to remember she is only 10 years old so her brain is going like thousand miles an hour.,she not really interested in doing a complete model by herself yet, so I will take what I can getwe allways spend time together when we can ,but these times seemed a little different in a good way, besides it got her away from facebook and all that other computer garbage, dont get me wrong, im not against technology just need a break from it sometimes,so I guess she will be my body painter until she ready for the whole kit.

Hey guys here is the super bee that me and granddaughter started , I told her to pick a color ,this is what she picked and she wasn't budging so I let her spray it her first time ever spraying with air brush, boy was that funny we were both laughing so hard it took her 3 times but it worked out great(I use the cheap craft paints on all bodies so we washed it off twice and third time was perfect ,she is only 10 yrs old),then she wanted to clear it but I said no cause it was some nasty chemicals and didn't want her exposed to it she didn't like it but oh well I WON that debate,( was duplicolor acrylic enamel clear in can)I know call me paranoid, then she says to ME well YOU spray it,quiclky reminded her who the adult was,but none the less she was happy she got to spray her first car,i know nothing is correct as far as being accurate representation of said vehicle ,but it is going on her shelf,,the 57 is also painted with cheap craft pain don't know color because it was left over from something else, the model was a basket case ,someone sanded most of the drip rails off , some with window molding didn't have much left to cover, suspension parts were missing ,motor parts missing ,so it pretty much curb side.and she also sprayed the interior of cornet, she didn't want to put down the air brush

Hey everybody, here is my choice ,scapel blades ,just started using them about a month ago, I use them only for bare metal foil, and let me tell you what a difference for ME .use to use the standard exacto # 11,but would have problems with keeping blade in groves, and it would go off track (probably bad technique),so I seen some where on line about someone using scapels ,and I figured what heck try it,never going back to exacto for baremetal foil, this is probably old news to the more experienced modelers but the scapels are smaller, they are also thinner ,and boy are they sharp,,i have used the same scapel blade now for the last three models, did I mention boy are they sharp,i don't know about anyone else but I a have a few encounters with exactos, but let me tell you with scapel I didn't even know I knicked my self till I seen the blood,L.O.L ,didn't even hurt ,or feel it ,till later on of course when cleaning airbrush with laq, thinner,,anyway just excited about something that people probabably all ready knew, wish I started using them along time ago, plus they are not that expensive, bought handle and 100 # 11 blades for less than $10.00,on line

PHOTOGRAPHY HELP PLEASE
bauercrew replied to bauercrew's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
here are two shots it seems to be a light issue (not enough)the bulbs im using has a color temp of 3000k but when I boost it up to 4100k this is what they look like (better than 3000k)those who are use to the d70 knows that it shoots a little on the dark side which is ok cause you can always boost up exposure ,but it seems with each car I had to adjust the color temp a bit --but it still beats creating a custom curve for the camera, as you can see still little soft on the 57,again seems to be light issue, yes they were shot on two different backgrounds -

hey everyone sorry if i offend any impala lovers out there with this one basically just wanted to show results i got useing the cheap acrylic hobby paints , the procedure that work for me was useing the medium for acrylics ,shot the color, sanded it down with 2400 to get bad spots rectified .after satisfied then i shot about 6 coats of the duplicolor, then sanded clear coat with 3200 ,than wax with turle wax, ( i my self am very happy with results) the rest of car is also all acrylics, the only smell i had to deal with was the duplicolor , but no where near as bad as before with having to clean up with laq thinners or all the other mess, just water cleanup from here on out baby attached is the stuff i am useing and the chrome on side is alcad and of coarse bare metal foil on windows
