Monogram mini Exacts
michael1969 replied to Austin T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have the cobra and the mustang. I have only thought to maybe stick with detail painting them. I haven't see any blemishes in the plastic. You could try to mask the rest carefully, then paint the body. -
Is there any way to fix old rattle cans?
michael1969 replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know how you feel, cardiac patient since '03 w/bypass in '07. You have caught my interest, where do you find Testors in the bottle for $1.25? -
They had this in Bosnia when I had to do peacekeeping. Wonderful stuff. Matija, wasn't there a dish called borek as well? I remember one the meat was placed in the bread and the other cooked in the bread.

John, I didn't mean to steal your post. Just trying to keep our friends safe and healthy.

I can be a 'voice of experience'. I am 43 now. My first heart attack or heart attacks was in 2003. I was 34 years old. That got me an ICD, implanted cardiac device. If I recall I lost 30% of my heart function, that part just doesn't work anymore. Then in 2007, fainted in the kitchen.....that got me a triple bypass at 37 years. I guess my point would be, Things like this can happen at any time. Somebody said earlier, 'look in the mirror'. Take a look at your parents as well. My heart disease is hereditary, mom had heart attacks and dad had strokes. If I had it to do all over again, I would eat differently, not have smoked. Anyway, I hope we all take care of ourselves. Can't help but care for you all.

Sorry Guys and gals. I'm gone. We had a house fire
michael1969 replied to Green Duster's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Great to hear your back. We will say a prayer that things move smoothly along for you. Hang in there. -
Anne, on Megahobby's behalf, they do ship internationally. Or at least to APO's. I was stationed in Bosnia and they shipped there with no problem. I would keep inquiring to resolve the issue. My international order took less time than your paint order.

You guys and dolls (just for you crazy girl) have some really interesting facts about yourselves. I hope not to bore you. 1. I went to the National Guard recruiter and said 'Put me where you need me' in December of '87. Served 16 years and 9 months before I had to get out due to a heart attack at 34. Seems your family history has a lot to do with your health. 2. My best friend is my wife. We have been separated since '99. She decided she likes girls. We have lived together since 2003. Neither one of us want to be without our daughter so we deal with it. I do want to say one thing, even with the direct effect on our relationship I feel the only judge of her will be her maker. It is not my place to pass judgement, it is god's alone.

Airtight cases!?
michael1969 replied to Mrdarkmonkey96's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You have to be careful with air tight containers. I have had a model or two start to fall to pieces, no pun intended. I think it had to do with the "superglue" type of adhesive (cyanoacrylates). Can anybody confirm this or is it just my luck. This happened with my liquid glue as well(I have Revell's liquid glue for models right now). -
Realistic tail lghts
michael1969 replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looking at your picture, I would foil the light. Next color the red reflector as seen in sjordan's photo and let the red dry. Next, I would use the glue on the lens and distribute it using a toothpick. Let it dry. If you don't like the look, peel off the foil and your back where you started. -

I have had some success using white glue like Elmer's. Paint your color or foil the back up light then place a drop of glue on. Use a toothpick to fill in the area then let dry. Works similar to the window glues. -
How to Make Body Panels
michael1969 replied to MoparWoman Jamie's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
This would work great for a body shop diorama. You could have a few damaged panels as if just finishing a repair. -
Derek, there is a guy herein Nebraska that has a neat site. He sells model parts by categories. The site is 'newtsboneyard.com. I am not trying to sell here. The site does make for great window shopping for different styles. Prices look reasonable as well.

Nick, I'd like to offer some encouragement. That 71' can be a nice kit when done. Some of the guys here can help you with stripping the paint. I have not been brave enough to do that yet, but if we don't challenge ourselves, how are we to improve? You do great work, some of it better than myself. I have been doing models since around 1978. The big question for you is.... Who are you building for? It should be "yourself". That is who you have to please. Keep at it, there are a lot of us out here cheering for you.

Can I file a complaint? I like being here and looking soooo much, I can't get any building done at all. I mean really guys, could you try to make this site even a little humdrum? Just kidding. The site is great. If ya don't like the topic then don't click on it. It can't get much simpler than that. Heaven would be for the complainers to get revenge. How to do that?.....Start your own forum, instead of berating someone out there doing it. I would like to say thank you to all the moderators on this site, and please continue.

I remember having a police helicopter similar to the Hughes 500. It was one that came with the plastic printed circuits and a light for the spot. The rotors actually turned. I can't remember who made it. It was molded in blue plastic.

I also found the H 13H Bell in MASH livery, 1/35 from Revell. Either one could be a Bat Copter Starting point.
-
The bat copter looks like the OH-13s Souix offered by Italeri. Theirs is 1/48 scale. It is offered by Megahobby.com.

Looks great to me. Don't worry about the details, build for your own satisfaction. Something to remember...we were or will be all at this level at some point in time. I have been building since the 70's and still don't get a lot of the paint jobs that nice. -

looks great. Not the straight from the factory look. As for the brush painting...great job, I have seen it done on an old Chevelle in John Deere green. That was on a 1/1 Chevelle. So you are not completely out of context. Great build!!! Looks great to me.
