I made one that is roughly 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 feet maybe even 3 feet cubed. four sides are thin plywood and two are plexiglass. I made a rough squirrel cage fan I need to replace. total cost right at $10 dollars for the glass. It has a furnace filter and the front and top are clear. If I want a light I can use a lamp or I may buy a light. All the rest was what I had around or I got from friends or relatives remodeling. You can go with a manufactured booth or challenge yourself and see what you can come up with. I for one am a rather cheap person, I'd rather find a no or low cost alternative. The important thing is research so that you don't compromise your safety. The rest is up to you.

I know this is an older thread, but I have the picture saved. I may have to try this on my 1/16 '87Camaro or 1/12 '67 Vette to practice the concept. Then I will move to the smaller scale....maybe. Bill, you just amaze me. My Cougar II still sits in it's box. Hopefully I can do it justice after seeing yours. Ken, you and Bill are two of a kind, that being legends.

Spray Booth Fan
michael1969 replied to hooterville75's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Deron, I, too want to build a spraybooth. I think what the guys are saying is that safety is important. Your free fan, is the motor outside of the case? If not, you may have two problems. First, the issue of exposed arcs or sparks in the flammable fumes of the paint which may cause a fire. Second, if the motor is internal, the overspray being paint can build up on the exposed parts of the fan and motor causing them to go or burn out. As for the pegboard comment, It will restrict the airflow your are working so hard to acheive. Hope this helps. If it is any consolation, I still haven't got a good fan for my booth so I don't use it. -
That is a sweet looking Golf. Thanks for sharing.

Looks great. Was it weathered for the contest or is that "shelf weathering"? I seem to have a lot of shelf weathering going on(models getting dusty on shelf).

I still have the pieces of the Chevy Bison snap that my dad got me in ooohhh about 1985 somewhere in my attic. Guess that is what we get when we can't part with plastic.

Great looking MG. I did the Minicraft MG in 1/16. I would love to have one of these to set beside it.

Minicraft Kit Reviews?
michael1969 replied to 98 corvette roadster's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I really like Minicraft. I have assembled their MG and yes it was challenging, but if we can,t have a challenge how are we to learn. I have a Model A sedan and delivery waiting. The quality is very good. I will admit I do like odd scales in addition to 1/24,1/25. Their kits are great for an experienced modeler. A beginner may be challenged to finish the model. My source for the models was Megahobby.com. Megahobby was great! No problems with service and no problem shipping to an APO. I was stationed in Bosnia on deployment and got my models in excellent time. -
The Grand National was the fastest production car for 87. It ought to have power even for a v6. Great build.

seriously diggin the pinstripes on the dash. if I could only have one of my models on par with this I would be a happy happy man. Beautiful.

I have a Toyota Celica from Tamiya. My question is... the decal sheet has black,I can only guess mold residue. How can I remove this without damaging the decals?

Mercury
michael1969 replied to hotrod59f100's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
I seem to remember some of those old wagons had a third(possibly even a fourth) seat that actually faced the rear of the vehicles. I know they were long with rear door that swung out from one side to open. -
don't know if you will like this one but here goes.

All I can think of is the "Griswald's Wagon". lol It does ook cool though. -
I had the same idea and came up with this...the characters on the side are kanji for girlpower.

Seeing the military vehicles I have to add my two cents. My motivation is to build all the vehicles I actually drove in the military. I have two vehicles done so far. here they are. I learned how to drive a stick shift in the 1/4 ton jeep. I drove a different version of this in Bosnia. We had the up-armor humvees.
