A nice realisation of this monument from the period.

They were disqualified because they were found guilty of replacing prohibited parts of the car during the race, but without admitting it. The bottle on the passenger side is a bottle of acetylene to feed the headlights (no electric lighting at this time).

I hope they will not. A person who reaches the top of a mountain after a difficult climb, will not like seeing other people being dropped off by helicopter ... š

Here is The Ford T nĀ°2 which arrived First in the New-York to Seattle Race in 1909 - Bert Scott driver and James Smith mechanic. The car was later disqualified. The base is a kit ICM 1/24 deeply modified :
