  1. Hi guys Thought a few of you might like to see one of the (far too) many models in mid build on my workbench - or rather living room floor - a mild custom mini, complete with matching trailer! Lots of minis have been modded, but I haven't seen one done like this before. I junked everything but the body to start off with, sat it on the Daytons and thought it looked good. Then I chopped the roof, and wondered if I could have it look better with additional mods and a different wheel/tyre combo, so the 49 Merc wheels had their outer lips removed to fit the smallish tyres. Not sure where they came from, bigger than stock but still small, I then painted the sidewalls white and decided that was a better look. The grill has been widened and a toothed one added, and obviously the V8 that I always wanted it to have required a scratchbuilt chassis. Radiator fuel tank and battery will reside in the back, no room for weekend luggage, so that's where the trailer came in! This is being built from a 2nd old and broken built mini. Holes are cut in the rear for a set of 59 Cad tailights, same for the trailer. It's also completely smoothed and deseamed, and has the 41 Willys headlight buckets added. Paint is Pactra r/c polycarbonate Pearl Grape, just with one coat of clear at the moment but plan on adding maybe 3 more coats eventually. The paint is meant for lexan r/c bodies and stays soft, hence the clearcoat just to give it a hard protective layer for now. Hope you like it, I think it's quite cute and a bit different to most minis, but feel free to comment on it, any are welcome!
  2. I'll probably stick with the kit wheels and try and make it more street than race. Got a stock Tamiya Supra kit too so will see if I can use the underpinnings and interior from that. Keep the posts coming on your Supra build - and enjoy it too!
  3. Hi Dann - yeah they're not very well detailed kits but I've always liked Panteras so had to have one. Still got work to do on this, mainly some exterior detailing, but it's a bit low in the to do list right now! Spent time scratchbuilding the spoiler, bodykit and interior but otherwise it's pretty much stock, minus the provision for batteries and the little electric engine they designed the kit for! ?
  4. Nice collection, love the Camaro and the 57 Chevy looks the biz too!
  5. Very very slick Dann, great job! You've just inspired me to go and dig out my Hasegawa kit and get on with building it!
  6. Hi Chris - very sorry to hear about your accident, hope you're on the mend now though. But one positive is definitely finding model cars! Where are you in the UK?
  7. Hi Matt - good to hear you're hooked! Not been on here long myself but I can already see plenty of talent, so you should find plenty of help and encouragement available. I started building a Toyota Tom's Supra as a street car recently too, but have only got as far as painting it then put it aside in favour of a couple other builds. Keep us posted on how you're getting on with yours.
  8. Thanks guys, appreciate all your comments. FOGGY2, there definitely are more UK builders around, some real talents too.
  9. I think you nailed it!!! Very nice build!

    Very cool!!
  11. Hi all - I've been building for more years than I care to mention, always 1:24/25 too, mainly customs, hot rods and street machines with the odd race car now and then. Currently have I think 5 being built, with the Toyota Celica holding my interest most at the moment, as it is a close representation of a 1:1 car I was building years ago but never got finished as it was stolen. Am looking forward to spending some time on these forums and hopefully contributing to some too! Hope you like the pics of a few of my builds, some finished some with lots still to do!
