  1. Well this was a whirlwind build but I just had to have one of my own after watching it on TV last month. The hard part was creating all those decals and getting them right. I painted Tamiya Chrome Yellow on a sheet of white decal film so I could have a match to the body when I painted it. I'm sorry for the quality of the pictures. I'm saving for a better camera. Like I did earlier in the on the bench section, here's the real car followed by the model pics: Revell C6R kit. Tamiya Chrome Yellow and Gloss Black, Sakatsu Aluminum BBS RE wheels. Studio 27 “C†Mesh. Fine Molds Radiator Pattern. Detail master electric fan photoetch. Dexter race position lights. All Custom made decals on Paint Shop Pro. Modifications: Body: Molded in Naca ducts (rear) scratch built head lights license plate area fully opened tighter door gaps by adding material to doors and body Reshaped exhaust shield aluminum exhaust tips opened front grille molded hood pins removed and added pins hood extended to the sides and front for tighter fit door handles reshaped Side windows from clear stock Photoetch: front grille, mesh in license plate area, race position lights Photoethch rear grill and cooling fan Photoetch wiper Added tow hooks (front and back All custom made decals Wheels: Sakatsu turned and milled aluminum BBS RE. Interior: Full seat belt replaces molded in version Added realistic safety nets
  2. Very nice build. I love clean work like you just pulled off. Keep it up!
  3. Ismael, Looks like you took on a mildly difficult car to do but still should be a nice build. You will need to use some white decal film to double up the existing stripes and roundels. They are rather transparent. You're doing a fine job so far. Keep it up.
  4. Work continues... I opened up the rear end to show the rear radiator. Aside from some carbon fiber decal these are the only aftermarket parts that I will use. I noticed that after I downloaded the pictures I neglected to get a shot of the Sakatsu wheels. Oh well, next time. They are the closest I could find but are about $15 a pair. The FineMolds radiator mesh is very nice but it's detail will be lost behind the Studio 27 C-mesh screening. I had to cut the three outer circles out of the 19" fan shrowd in order to use it for the 12" fan. The Detail Master kit is very nice. The next time you see pictures of the Bad Boys Vette will be in the "Under Glass" section. There's not much additional work that would help anybody here. It's almost done so stay tuned. Thanks for looking and hope you enjoyed it.
  5. I really enjoyed seeing the Corvette C6Rs and their new paint scheme at the ALMS race at Laguna Seca this year. It looked so bad ass I just had to have one for myself. Remember, this car just raced on the 20th of October. I'm moving fast. Here's the actual car: I got all the graphics figured out and reproduced in Paint Shop Pro then printed with a good laser jet. I had to make my own yellow film to match the paint by painting a white decal sheet with the Tamiya Crome Yellow. The decals at the top and the skull on the bottom right were added to the yellow sheet as well. I had to hand draw the drivers names and scan them in before reproducing on the laser jet. Here's the progress of the decal application after the primary paint was applied to the body of the Revell C6R. Due to the multiple layers of decal film and sealer I had to use a ton of softener. The louver covering was a particular pain. Each slot had to be carfully slit without tearing the decal film. Oh what fun we have... Thanks for looking! Jim Drew
  6. I just wanted to share the completed Audi R10 TDI from LeMans 2006. I will post better pictures and some in progress shots later in the on the bench section. Enjoy. Jim Here's the specs: Revell of Germany Audi R10 TDI Modifications: Reworked and lengthened transmission Added turbo air intake filters Plumbed cool air radiators to engine Added air ducts to rear brakes and wheel well Fabricated rear suspension damper system Added antennas Dexter Models Photo-etch system: Louvers, Screens, Seat belt hardware etc. Paints are: Tamiya lacquers Ferrari Red, German Grey, Gloss Aluminum Clear coat with Future Alclad metalizer on engine, mirrors and wheels
  7. The body is primed and ready to paint although I have not received the photo-etch it shouldn’t be a setback at this point. I noticed that the engine front sits too far away from the front bulkhead. I cut the engine and transmission away from each other and added a 1/8†thick piece of plastic to lengthen the whole assembly. I also removed all the ribbing from the transmission and cut it down at an angle to the rear as it looked in reference photos. The air induction radiators were relocated tho the positions shown. Stay tuned.
  8. Thanks Brendan! More great pictures and a site that I put in my favorites. You guys have been awsome. Jim
  9. Peter, Thanks a bunch, those are some nice shots of the um-err engine. Much appreciated as I didn't have any with that much detail. Jim
  10. I know, I know, but we should all be allowed to eat cake once in a while. Blame it on technology and the video game generation, whatever, why do they get all the fun? I want, no crave, that instant gratification. See you in October for some chili and dogs (and fudge)? Jim
  11. Hello Korky, I got most of my photo info from these sites: Motorsports The Paddock Speed Arena Here is the Dexter site and Strada is carrying the photo etch set. Dexter Photo Etch Strada Sports Thanks for the nice comments.
  12. Well, I just had to buy one of the R10's after seeing it in action at Sebring this year. I didn't have plans to build it right away, but it just pulled me in. After looking at the parts for the engine bay, I decided it would be a very sparce opening without a few additional modifications. There are some serious filtered air intakes that need to be added. These were carved from ABS plastic and then lined with .010 rod. The two radiators were relocated as shown and piped to the engine. The other thing that needs to be done is fill in the fastener locations on the front and rear fenders with putty as they are just way too big and deep. I will replace them with some metal dots later. When the Dexter photo-etch gets to me I can start on the other louvered openings. Stay tuned and thanks for looking Jim
  13. I'm pretty sure they will have a nice set of photo-etch with their kit. That's some nice work on the graphics. You might want to contact Kevin at Strada Sports. He tells me that he took pictures of all the small graphics on the car at Sebring this year in order to do a decal sheet too. I believe his address is in another post in this string. Jim
  14. If you have some patience, and can wait, Tecnomodel http://www.tecnomodelcar.com/anticipa/prepara.asp is going to release the race version of the F430 GT that you want to build so you don't have to do too much scratch building. Those decals will probably follow shortly by them or another aftermarket company. Personally I'm going to wait. Jim
