Thanks Oldmodelmaker! That is more like I was thinking. A step or two at a time.. Sand and adjust... Just using primer, fitting, then going from there!!
-
Will do JR. This is a level 2. For some reason I started my first build with a 3 I am taking the time to sand down the plastic left on pieces after taking them off. Also using a toothpick for glue instead of straight from the tube itself.
-
Thanks Ace. First build was fun, but as you get more tips from great people and learn, it is exciting.
-
This will be my second build. I have some new tips to use and new tools. Last build I didn't use primer, I am this time. I didn't do much detailing either, but plan on hand painting some stuff on this engine. Plan on a two color paint scheme. Going fiery orange for the main body with the tail and hood scoop black. Black interior as well. Very excited. Priming the body and larger parts now, along with engine. Plan on taking more time on letting paint and primer to dry longer. I hope by tomorrow evening I can start hand painting motor.

Thanks for the tips. Another question. Do you dry fit the WHOLE project before one ounce of paint? Or dry fit page by page and then paint?
-
not even close. The front looks terrible.
-
Well I finished. Not happy with it or mysel. I know it's my first build. Hood isn't flush. Nor is the front bumper. Missing details bc like a rookie I took parts off with my fingers and broke wipers and stuff. Can't tell from here, but the paint job isn't the best. Seem as though parts didn't fit right. When people recommend dry fit, can anyone be more specific for me so I can on my next build. So no gluing? What does it mean exactly.

What do you guys use most? Do you paint by hand a lot?
-
Hey guys almost done with build. Should be done by this weekend. Will put pictures up too. I was on spring break ( I am a school counselor) then we started back, so not as much time. I am looking to start a 71 Plymouth GTX next. Very excited and have learned a lot with this build.
-
Thanks Kerry. Yeah that makes sense. I didn't know if it was taboo to change it all up I am about to only start my second build, but just looking for ideas. I have parts left over from my 2 n' 1 68 charger kit and then the ones I am buying in the picture. We will see what crazy creation I can come up with

So I picked up these 6 cars for $25 as well as some supplies. Some of these car kits have been open and some have not. I have seen on here that some builders mix and match kits. Is this up to the builder when and how they do that? Does that no through off the original look of a car if the parts do not go with that particular kit? Just curious how you determine what can mix and match? As long as it looks good with your model it is okay? Thanks for the information.

2 part question. What do you glue and not glue when assembling tires and wheels? Also how do you make the tires smooth after pulling from kit?
-
need help. Which way does the tire go. Or does it matter? Glue or no glue? Confused.
-
what do have holding up those small parts? Toothpicks and tape?
-
It worked. Tub first, then chassis. I only lost my dash board. Lesson to learn; windows and windshield last in case you need back in the car. A little scratched up on edges underneath car, but not bad. Fire wall gave me heck.

Bruce did you try sending a link? Don't see one. -
I know this may be a DUMB question, but when building a Spraybooth why have a fan? I have a window in my hobby space, should that be good enough just to leave open? Also do you guys wear a small mask when airbrushing? Just curious. Thank you!

I am new to hobby. I have seen glue bomb, what is that? If you do a redo, do you sand the old paint and glue off? What's the process of starting over? Thanks. Big rig looks good.
-
Thanks Anthony. I'll try that.
-
I almost had it cleared and then bang. Out went everything. Lol. What's the best methods for putting in those tiny triangular side windows? Tweezers?
-
Thanks DaveWilly. I'll paint a bit in the am.. Reassemble tomorrow evening and try again Sunday.

Everything popped out. Seats, steering wheel, ETC. Now I am having to touch up where it got scratched. Nothing major. Body paint still good. Just have to re glue. Any advice for next attempt? Did I do something wrong to begin with?
