  1. Few updates on my build. First...I found out that my dad's truck is actually a 1977 instead of a 78. lol. Dad's memory isn't great. These trucks all looked the same, but the 77 was an anniversary year and had gold stripe on the side molding. How I'm going to add that will interesting. 🙂 I'm narrowing the paint colors. The GM color were 'red poly' and 'santa fe tan'. Neither is perfect, but getting close. I'm also working on the scratch built canopy. Lots of trial and error with scale, angles, etc. The Sam Mills slam locks worked great! thanks @GLMFAA1 Got a few more details to go. Found a good representation of the original interior, sans bench seat.
  2. @BDSchindler This isn't relevant. The question was not about emulating a cover.... but to create the snaps.
  3. I’d like to add snaps around a truck bed. As if tonneau is off. 1:25 scale. How are others creating these? Dabs of silver paint?
  4. I had the bumper mounted pipe clamp 3D printed. Not great 😞 I wasn’t really sure what to expect. This guy usually prints out full scale motorcycle parts. nonetheless… I might have to find someone who can do small resin parts.
  5. whoa! and there they are. much easier. thank you!
  6. Working on the scratch built canopy. Wondering if anyone might have an extra utility bed from the Mobius Ford utility kits? The box latches are perfect.
  7. @Mattilacken Well that is cool. I do not have 3D print capability 😞 I’m using a front end out of early Chevy truck. Not nearly as detailed, but putting my energy toward the exterior details
  8. @Repstock the body is great. Love the detail. Yea, unfortunate that the Scottsdale will get replaced. Stay tuned!
  9. Thanks! In all honesty, I wasn’t quite sure how this was gonna work out with the 2wd conversion. I understand that there are aftermarket drop kits available.I’m also not super concerned with accuracy as far as the suspension goes. I’m using a 60s Chevy pickup front suspension, with a bit of blocking to get ride height. For the rear, I have the axle sitting on the frame, which has been shimmed for ride height. I’ll try to get some pics up soon.
  10. Had a chance to get this bad boy rolling again. Extended the frame to accommodate the long bed. It’s not pretty, but should work. Fussing with ride height. door signage, license plates and seat decals designed. Got a friend doing a 3D print on the bumper mounted pipe clamp. Started getting the canopy laid out with various styrene panels. Bumper is being modded to resemble 1:1. ISO: needing to source the trailer/hauling mirrors. 92 f150 kit appears to have the closest.
  11. Hi there! Wondering if anyone might have an extra set of mirrors? Looks like these were found on AMT 1992 F-150 Flare Side. Ford 80's Ranger, 66 F100....possibly others. thanks in advance! Vince
  12. whoa buddy! indeed...that is sweet! I'll reach out to him. cheers!
  13. @mikemodeler @Can-Con thanks for the review! Yes, aware of the conversion from 4wd to 2wd. I've seen at least one 3D kit that facilitates this. Somewhere I read about a guy using a NASCAR chassis as well. ?? The long bed conversion seems to be the real challenge. The Mad Modeling (Morgan Auto Detail) bed is designed for a 1:25 kit. Thus the Deserter kit. I originally wanted to use the GMC snow plow or Big Game truck, as those have the proper front clip. But alas, both are 1:24...and won't work with the MAD bed. hmmm. Then there is this route.
  14. Not sure starting another project, with four stalled projects on the bench, is a good idea. But... planning them is my favorite part. This build is a tribute to my dad's Plumbing truck, from the early 80s. I hope to get this started this year. It's got a few unique elements to it that should be a challenge. Here is my build sheet thus far. EDIT: updated build sheet with new plan of attack. 1/23/24
  15. 15 minutes at a time, over two years…finally complete. No real customization, aside from license plate and some paint touches. Great kit. LA 7 Mary 3 & 4
  16. @martinfan5 great build! I'm in the midst of this same project. Curious, on the tank decal application. The instructions are a bit confusing... showing 'cut lines'. How did you handle this? Did you cut into the decal on each of these lines? thanks in advance. Vince
  17. Indeed. Feb 2018. They did a very nice write up (aside from spelling my last name wrong). lol.
  18. Yes, the brougham (hard top) is a great design. I had one, but unfortunately used it for a parts car. I liked the lines way more so than the fastback variant. The dashes look cool, but are a pain to remove and replace. cheers!
  19. Not dead....just stalled out with life projects.
  20. Working getting the Mach 1 mustang to sit in the Torino chassis. Little trim and shim. Also added an actuator to the Air cleaner. 1:64 scale interior is coming along. Top removed and shaving the fast back deck. Found a donor with perfect bench seat. 1:18 scale interior is shaping up (removed console).
  21. Awesome! I’m in west linn
  22. Thank you! Looks like super thin styrene strips. That could work. I think etching might be a bit to much. This should be fun
  23. I’m going to be building a Chevy Swb truck similar to the one in photo. I’ll be Using the snow plow gmc truck as a starting point. what is the best way to create the body molding? (As circled) thanks!
  24. thank you! I bought the one i have a couple years back....and don't recall what it was off of. Eyeballing it....i think it will work as far as length/width. the back window will need to be modified. I've seen one done that used a '65 Impala top and boot. these were big cars! I've been keeping my eye open for some of those bigger late 50's - early 70s convertibles for the parts. The boot on my car is particularly flat...dare i say concave. I figure that once the hard top is cut off, i can get more serious about top/boot dimensions...
