  1. mom said if i save up i can get a snapper on account of last time Skippy's ears got glued together and it cost a LOT at the vet to get them unstuck.
  2. what's trivial to one may be paramount to another
  3. it gets to "knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing." i understand you defending your employer's policies. but to answer your perhaps intended rhetorical questions: absolutely NOT - i will not use or shop in stores which require a card to enable savings. people have no idea how much information is garnered in this manner and there are two younger generations who blatantly accept this invasion of privacy as the norm. i am not selling myself that cheap. you have no idea how much money i have, so for a perceptibly intelligent person, why would you make that assumption? don't let emotion get in the way of logic.
  4. a favorite and it came out great. the weathering looks like it belongs there, instead of the all-over bad paint jobs that folks try to pass off as weathering.
  5. ... depends on your definition of a "classic" movie. i've changed the title yet a third time to reflect the point which i was trying to get across. but now i expect "... depends on your definition of a "classic" car."
  6. your post should have included a film or television show.
  7. based on this, and your previous breakdown of how discounts are handled, i would never buy anything from a store which obviously prejudices someone who walks in off the street over a regular customer. i'm not saying it's wrong, or a bad business practice, but just one i won't participate. this is the type of action which makes me enjoy the internet shopping experience. i can live without the "warm & fuzzy" of brick 'n mortar and all those deep friendships based upon my spending habits. anyone, in any business, is your friend as long as you are giving them $$$.
  8. that was my thought, too. seems like the same topic(s) get regurgitated every three or four weeks.
  9. you don't have to quote more than a few key thoughts or pictures. leaves more room in your reply for happy faces.
  10. it's the whole "look at me" generationS thing. blame it on the "selfie". https://progress-is-fine.blogspot.com/
  11. another is the 12" rule. if you view the model from 12" away, in 1/87 scale, it's comparable to viewing it from 87' away. what detail can you see from there? 12" away in 1/25 scale would be viewing from 25' away. can you see the bolts? whatever your pain threshold. i giggle when i read a photo caption which states "there's even real oil on the removable dipstick". addendum: see "rivets" comments in Big Boys Fiat thread. to rehash, the larger the scale modeled, the more detail is demanded to make it look convincing.
  12. practice can make you better or you can just have a good time doing things the way that makes you happy and that's what's really important in life. you asked a good question and got some solid advice, and made your own decision.
  13. "it's" is a contraction of "it is". "its" is a possessive form of the pronoun "it". clear? - pun intended

  15. this is my 'go-to' adhesive, but i also use Smith Industries 5 minute & 30 minute epoxy, Extreme Power acc adhesive, & Ranger Glossy Accents for clear parts - all from Hobby Lobby. like has been said, one size does not fit all.
  16. i think the OP boned himself by trying to do the right thing and wait it out. nothing more to lose at this point but to make others aware of the bad deal. maybe the lesson to be learned is keep records and act in a timely manner.
  17. the larger the scale, the more detail that needs to be introduced to be convincing.
  18. good grief - i never gave that a thought. say whatever you want, any way you want, we can take it!
  19. wow. long answer for something determined moot. but i do agree cost & enjoyment are not necessarily dependent upon each other. for those resin casting, do royalties get paid to the parent company, or is it just a catch-me-if-you-can proposition?
