  1. I am aware of the difference in axle width. The wheel backs and tires currently on it are just for mockup until my wheels and tires arrive from Fireball Modelworks. I will adjust accordingly if I need to.
  2. Thank you! Hopefully this project gives me more motivation to hunt for parts for my real 91. I have had it nearly two years and haven't done anything with it yet.
  3. I found it searching on Google for "resin Grand Wagoneer" The eBay seller has them on his site off and on both a 91, and an earlier Wagoneer but with incorrect tail lights.
  4. I am the proud owner of a 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Final Edition in Hunter Green metallic with a light tan leather interior. However, it is a big project to get it back together and on the road again. I always wanted to build a replica of it to go along with the rest of the collector cars in my family that I have built already. I stumbled across a 3D print 1991 Grand Wagoneer body on eBay and decided to snag it up and see how good or bad it is. Several weeks went by as it came overseas to America and I was surprised that it looks more accurate than the Revell Honcho pickup. I picked up an Ice Patrol Honcho at a model show a few weeks ago anticipating this as Hobby Lobby near me does not carry it any longer. The wheel base almost the same between the pickup body and the Grand Wagoneer body. I cut the locating tabs off the front suspension and lightly glued the front suspension where the wheelbase looked right with the body. Me being me, I like having a full detailed model versus a curbside non opening hood kit. So I cut the hood free and tried up the edges. Later on I added some thin strip styrene to make up where the hood was cut so it sits high enough. The inner fenders were cut out of the pickup body and lightly glued to the core support and test fit in the Grand Wagoneer body. Surprisingly they fit fairly well and won't need much work. The back of the Grand Wagoneer grille was modified so it fit up snug against the core support. The battery was cut out and flipped essentially turning it into a battery tray so a more accurate looking battery could be used and also lower the battery down so it clears the thicker hood of the Grand Wagoneer. I started in on the interior tub by cutting off what I do not need and gluing a piece of sheet styrene to the back of the pickup interior tub to lengthen the floor for the back seat area. I cut some blanks for door panels and I will work on those later once I get the full floor done and fitting properly. The engine in it for testing purposes is a 1/24 scale Dodge 318/360 from a Ramcharger kit. Not sure which avenue I am going with my real 91, AMC 360 or Dodge 318 but the model will reflect that. I will post more progress as I continue on with the project! The very last last thing I did today was correct the front axle, I am sure some of the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer people out there noticed that the pumpkin was on the wrong side for a later Jeep. I cut the guts out between the leaf springs and cut the axle tube off. I filed the pumpkin flat and smooth on both sides and glued the pumpkin to the drivers side and cut a section of sprue tree down to fit and glued it in place.
  5. Will do. My plans are to make a correct 78 F-150 or F-250 4x4 standard longbed. I've built one of the Firestone kits as a 1977 F-250 Highboy 4x4. I also have a 1973-75 F-350 but it needs a front grille. Got it from my uncle missing the grille. My uncle is an avid modeler himself with over 400 models so modeling runs in the family. I am going to paint the one I'm working on now Phoenician yellow and metallic brown down the middle like the inspiration picture. I'll have a separate thread when I get enough work done to post.
  6. Thank you for the link! I copied your work on my stand wheel base longbed and all is well with the first side so far. Now just to find another left inside bed side.
  7. I just picked up my second 1978 Ford Firestone kit and I'd like to build it into a regular long bed. I remember seeing a thread or post somewhere with the details on how one guy modified the bed sides but I can't seem to find it. Any help finding this information is greatly appreciated!
  8. That's good to know.. What all goes on during the Saturday show?
  9. The shows are this weekend! I will be attending both but just spectating since it will be my first time going to the NNL show and my 3rd time to the swap meet at the Expo center.
  10. I finally made it up to my somewhat local hobby shop and picked up some strip styrene for the front grille and the bed floor ribs. I've spent the past 2 days working on the grille and I'm very pleased with how it is turning out, I still have to finish the headlights and turn signals, but it's getting close to being done with that and then back onto the dashboard and the interior. I must admit the scratch built grille looks a lot better as far as depth and detail than the kit 79-80 grille.
  11. You're correct, the square body Ram went through 93 and 94 started the 2nd gen Ram. I own an 83 Ram myself.
  12. slowly but surely making progress, I'm going to start on the front grille next but I need to make a stop at my hobby shop to pick up a few supplies. Only downside is my hobby shop is a half hour away and just for one package of strip styrene and potentially some other things isn't justifying the drive. Sooner than later..
  13. Thank you, it's been difficult at times but nothing as bad as a 67 Dodge Coronet station wagon I'm working on where nothing wants to fit!
  14. Well, I've been lacking to do an update for several months now. Before I put the truck back in the box for a while I finished making the bed and bed sides and started on the dashboard. I primed the whole truck and the primer cracked all over the place so it went into the box. Just this past Friday I pulled it back out with new interest in fixing the cracked primer and other parts I wasn't satisfied with. I redid the dashboard once again and filled in more holes and pits. Here's where I am right now and hope to get primer on the body in the near future as I continue to make progress.
  15. Thank you! Looks to be a very nice piece. I have a few ideas for small engines like these but never found a suitable casting and never had the motivation to build my own.
  16. Wow! I'm really liking the looks of this! If you could get more pictures of the scratch built Briggs & Stratton engine, I'm really interested to see how you built it!
  17. Got some more work done yesterday with very limited time so I didn't get a chance to get pictures, but I modified the engine to make it more or less 1/24 scale, started working on the dash, bed floor, and the bed sides. Sounds like a lot in an hour, but just little things. I just had to paint the engine again, and then started tooling around with the dash which proved to be a bigger project than 2 hours worth of time. So I moved on to the bed floor and I finished that up minus filler and sanding it down and the strips that run the length of the bed floor. I will have to make a hobby shop run for strip styrene to tackle that and the front grille. The bed sides got the trim removed and the front portion of the passenger bed side added on. That's where I ended last night. I hope to post more pictures soon.
  18. Will do! I'm contemplating pulling my engine apart and adding some styrene in all the joints where the parts comes together to make it a bit bigger. I will see tonight when I get some bench time!
  19. Ok, sounds good. Do you know of anyone that does a 1/24 scale slant 6 by chance?
  20. that it would be, but I'm forever a slant 6 guy. The only thing I would change is the 727 trans for a stick.
  21. Nice! I wish I had a stick in my truck but I couldn't complain because of the price and condition of my truck.
  22. Thank you for the offer! Looks like I will be spending much more time on getting the suspension and other parts more accurate.
  23. I will have to consider that. I haven't done any resin casting myself, but I'm sure with some practice with smaller parts I could either create something or have someone else cast it as a last resort. Thanks for then interest! More progress this weekend if I have time since finals for school are next week for me.
  24. Thanks for the interest! It's nice knowing I have access to as many pictures as I need since its sitting in the driveway!
  25. I've got some ideas up my sleeves to scratch build one, I have done an 87 grille for one of my Ramchargers before and it wasn't so bad. This will be a little more involved!
