  1. Yes, it is by far the nicest one I've seen also considering it was an Illinois DOT truck since 1992 at least. Only 85k on the odometer, I definitely plan to keep it going till it does and then some! I'm contemplating trying to replicate the dented fender and the rust spot on the bed side..
  2. I let the front suspension tack up before I put the tires on to make sure it sat good on a flat surface. The cab pictured has the trim removed. All the pictures I had when I started the build yesterday were no good thus I don't have any cutting the body up, but I do have a second one to chop up still that I will take pictures of the procedure. The 1/25 scale slant 6 is a bit small in this truck, but isn't a 225 slant 6 small to begin with?! I will make motor mounts and a higher trans mount to raise the engine up as much as I can to make the engine not seem so small unless someone knows of a 1/24 scale slant 6.. Rims will be from Fireball Modelworks since they have the closest 1/24 Mopar steelies and dog dishes to my truck.
  3. I got some more stuff done tonight including front and rear suspension, bench seat and removing the upper and lower trim from the cab. Let the pics speak for themselves. Comments and constructive criticism is always welcome! Took a side shot of the real truck today as well as chassis pictures for suspension reference. The frame was cut in two and lengthened about an inch or so to get the proper 131" wheel base. Then the leaf spring mounts were cut and the leaf springs glued to the side of the frame.Next came the task of scratch building proper 2 wheel drive front suspension.
  4. First off, I broke out the hack saw and chopped the back of the Ramcharger body off, but not to be discarded. Most will be used except for the removable top (on the real truck). That will not be needed. The back window from the cap was put in the back of the cab for the back window. I'm having technology issues this evening, I will post pictures of the build tomorrow.
  5. It's my first time posting a build on here. Late February of 2016 I bought my first vehicle ( yes I'm 17 ) which is a 1983 Dodge D150 "Custom" package with slant 6 and A727 3 speed automatic trans. I love that truck so much.. When I saw the Revell '80 Ramcharger was being reissued I knew I had to take 2 of them slam them together and create the first 1/24 scale 1983 Dodge D150 long bed pickup. Started this project today. With that being said, here is the build so far. Starting off with a picture of the real truck which is the only one I had on hand. The kits I used to start this build as of now are the Lindberg '64 Dodge 330 for the slant 6 engine, and 2 '80 Ramcharger kits one to make the cab, the other one the bed.
  6. Amazing job! If you took outdoor pics I would say it's a real Nova! The under hood detail is just perfect! Everything is just to size. Thumbs up!
  7. I'm addicted the Mode Master Lacquer Citrus Yellow Metallic paint, I've used it on my 1974 Chevy Nova and 1970 Ford F100 already and I'm also really liking the lacquer Fiery Orange Metallic on these trucks too, I just painted a 1972 Cheyenne 10 Super Fiery Orange and its close to the copper color these trucks had. By the way, love how your truck came out!
  8. I believe the 70 coronet kit also has a second dash not for that kit in it, it is the correct looking gauge cluster, you might try to cut to cut gauge cluster out and swap them. Just a thought.
  9. I was very pleased that the Nova Copo and the Nova SS with drag options were practically the same kit as I have the SS body and 350 on my now 74 nova and the rest is the Copo kit and the Copo body and 427 went with the SS kit to my uncle so he could build a replica of his 74 Nova. I've been toying around with making resin bodies of the 74 Nova as that body style was never made in scale before, we will see what becomes of that! Looking forward to seeing the next step on your build!
  10. Absolutely amazing work! Looks like I need to get this kit and build it stock instead of robbing parts to make a 74 Nova!
  11. Well, I hope you feel better soon! I scored pretty good yesterday, picked up close to 10 kits between my parents and I averaging less than $10 per kit. Later on I hope to post up some of the finds I got, as well as a super quick restoration of a Chevy Scottsdale pickup.
  12. I second that! That would make for an awesome truck!
  13. I'm planning on being there myself, I just found out about the show tonight even though I am in Waukesha! Luckily I didn't miss it! Maybe I will run into you there.
  14. I was lucky to last time I was at Hobby Lobby and I picked up one for $13.65 on clearance. I agree with gtx6970, go to Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon.
  15. I will see what I have going on today, I will definitely keep it in mind!
  16. Thank you for the info! Looks like I have more shows to add to my calendar!
  17. I've just joined the forum not to long ago and I'm currently in Waukesha. Haven't been to model shows in years but this past April I made it to the Milwaukee Miniature Motors show at the Waukesha EXPO center. Really looking forward to the show and contest this December. Who knows, we may end up running into each other.
  18. Isn't it about time I created an account to post my builds and what I'm working on?! I'm mainly into factory stock builds, and 70s and 80s style mods like engine swaps, but no LS or Coyote swaps, classic 454, 455, 440 six pack, etc. I build anything car or truck related. I am into scratch building, but not like what I see a lot of on here. I love building 1967 through 1972 Chevy and GMC trucks, and any 60s-80s Mopars. ~71_Sears
