  1. That is disappointing to hear... Glad the GTO is selling. Wasn't that a clone? BTW, I stand by what I said. As much as I nudge, complain, grip, etc. I truly believe, especially at this point, that if they could have released it, they would have. And if they decide not to, I believe there must have been a really good reason why. Heck, if they can make more money investing in Star Trek models then they could investing the same amount of money and resources into the '71/72, who could blame them for passing on it? Just trying to say I'm realist. Sometimes, I like to nudge though I think the nicest thing is we've been heard, whether they make it or not. They know. And I thank SteveG for that. It's nice that he weighs in. And it's nice to be acknowledged
  2. I remember SteveG had mentioned that they wanted to see how well the Coronet w/ trailer sold since much of that was cloned I believe. (seems like it did well if they released the hardtop version) Look, I make my posts with a wink and a nudge I believe if Round2 could reissue it, they would have a long time ago. Something legitimate is in the way. It just may not make good business sense for them right now - or ever. From that perspective, I couldn’t blame them if that is the case. Doesn’t mean I am going to stop nudging though
  3. Who knows? Maybe I will bite the bullet someday if I find one unbuilt and intact for non-insane price. Truth be told, that '87 reissue was a gift from my brother... for Christmas 1988! It was one of three that I owned: I had actually bought one for myself out of a model catalog (forget the name, but I'm sure many of you had at one point ordered from it as well) when it was first issued in fall of '87. With it came a set of fred caddy decals I also ordered. I built it to make it it look like the '72 that my parents owned. Shortly after, I received one for my birthday in May of '88 (I had turned 13). I built that one as well. (and I still have the remains of both) Then I got the one I have now the following Christmas. I had intended to build it as well, but got sidetracked for the last 35 years. At this point though, I don't want to mess with it; that thing is like an unmolested museum artifact. Another truth to be told, I did offer it up to SteveG in case Round 2 needed a model to clone (dead serious on this). He declined. Obviously cloning one wasn't in the plans over there.
  4. Because spending over $300 for a plastic model is pure insanity. For the record, I *do* have an MPC '87 reissue. It's unbuilt, sealed in plastic and I don't want to touch it. If I spend hundreds of dollars on a plastic model, I want perfection. And I'm not a perfect modeler. Now, if they reissue one, then I've got nothing to lose. I'll build it and a bunch more until I get my modeling chops back.
  5. Yes, you can. The trick though is that you have to cut the undercarriage at the back. Because it extends a little bit further on that model and it does on the 71–72. BTW, for the record, I was kidding about them smashing up a Mustang in the novel. To be honest, I never read the novel. I just really want to see a movie where they demolish a bunch of Fords. And smash up a few Chevys to boot.
  6. Yeah, I think in the novel they smashed up a mustang. Just think… if round 2 reissues the 71/72 rr, think of all the Friends of Eddie Coyle replica road runners we could make…
  7. They didn’t need to smash up the Road Runner though. Why is it that all the old movies smashed up Mopar?
  8. Yeah, I understand. I was just hoping I could stir up one little scrap or a nugget of a hint.
  9. Welp, it’s getting to the point where we see sneak peeks at some of the kits on tap for 2024. So, whats the story? Are we going to have a 71/72 Road Runner for next year or not?
  10. Well, if they need an original they should contact this guy… I bet he has the lost tooling as well.
  11. Another month goes by and…. No 71/72 Road Runner… *sigh* BTW, I wonder if those 1/25 scale kits for October are re-releases or clones…
  12. Last I had left it with Steve G was a lot of this would depend on how well the Coronet R/T with the trailer sells. If I recall, that was a clone model. I literally offered up my 71 Road Runner reissue (1987) and my resin body 1972 MPC Road Runner for the cloning but he said there was no need. So we will wait and see… No word as of now.
  13. Speaking of demand, how is the Coronet kit selling (the one with the trailer)? Steve G had mentioned that how that one sells would dictate whether or not we would see the 71/72.
  14. It would seem like the ‘69 Road Runner would be right in Moebius’s wheelhouse (considering that it would never see the light of day because jo-hann is dead)
  15. I had the Grasshopper, then once I smash that into a pile of plastic, I got The Hornet. And I smashed that into a pile of plastic. Then I stopped because how many piles of plastic do I need laying around the house? When the re-issues came out, I bought one for my kids. And they - You guessed it – smashed it into a pile of plastic. That gave me two piles of plastic from the 80s and another pile of plastic from today. Good news is those self tapping screws that these kits come with are useful in other applications!
  16. Yo, why you gotta be a 1/25 scale b-body hog? Oh, and do you, by any chance, happen to have the missing tooling as well?
  17. *sigh* Still waiting….
  18. Yeah, I suppose a parts pack is no good if you don't buy the model in the first place, and of those who buy the model, how many would go through the trouble to spend money on a parts pack? And with that... I torpedoed my own idea.
  19. Just a thought... Would it be tough to sell separate small 1/25th scale Mopar engines or GM engine kits that you could add to a craftsman model like the GTO (although putting a Mopar engine in a GTO would be... weird ? But hey, why not?) This way you wouldn't have to bust up a perfectly good model to add the details, you could buy an engine pack or whatever else.
  20. Well, I looks like they are taking a wait and see approach with the 71-72. Probably because no one outside of me has been banging the doors down about it. Whereas I think there was universal demand for the Coronet. So if the Netvert sells well and hopefully the 68 GTO sells reasonably well, there may be a case. My speculation anyway… if neither sell well, it probably doesn't make much business sense to re release it. Anybody know if the GTO is selling well? Haven't heard much chatter about it.
  21. So, uh... I hear if the '68 Coronet hits its sales targets, It would make the odds of seeing the '71-'72... much better.
