  1. Welp, it’s getting to the point where we see sneak peeks at some of the kits on tap for 2024. So, whats the story? Are we going to have a 71/72 Road Runner for next year or not?
  2. Well, if they need an original they should contact this guy… I bet he has the lost tooling as well.
  3. Another month goes by and…. No 71/72 Road Runner… *sigh* BTW, I wonder if those 1/25 scale kits for October are re-releases or clones…
  4. Last I had left it with Steve G was a lot of this would depend on how well the Coronet R/T with the trailer sells. If I recall, that was a clone model. I literally offered up my 71 Road Runner reissue (1987) and my resin body 1972 MPC Road Runner for the cloning but he said there was no need. So we will wait and see… No word as of now.
  5. Speaking of demand, how is the Coronet kit selling (the one with the trailer)? Steve G had mentioned that how that one sells would dictate whether or not we would see the 71/72.
  6. It would seem like the ‘69 Road Runner would be right in Moebius’s wheelhouse (considering that it would never see the light of day because jo-hann is dead)
  7. I had the Grasshopper, then once I smash that into a pile of plastic, I got The Hornet. And I smashed that into a pile of plastic. Then I stopped because how many piles of plastic do I need laying around the house? When the re-issues came out, I bought one for my kids. And they - You guessed it – smashed it into a pile of plastic. That gave me two piles of plastic from the 80s and another pile of plastic from today. Good news is those self tapping screws that these kits come with are useful in other applications!
  8. Yo, why you gotta be a 1/25 scale b-body hog? Oh, and do you, by any chance, happen to have the missing tooling as well?
  9. *sigh* Still waiting….
  10. Yeah, I suppose a parts pack is no good if you don't buy the model in the first place, and of those who buy the model, how many would go through the trouble to spend money on a parts pack? And with that... I torpedoed my own idea.
  11. Just a thought... Would it be tough to sell separate small 1/25th scale Mopar engines or GM engine kits that you could add to a craftsman model like the GTO (although putting a Mopar engine in a GTO would be... weird ? But hey, why not?) This way you wouldn't have to bust up a perfectly good model to add the details, you could buy an engine pack or whatever else.
  12. Well, I looks like they are taking a wait and see approach with the 71-72. Probably because no one outside of me has been banging the doors down about it. Whereas I think there was universal demand for the Coronet. So if the Netvert sells well and hopefully the 68 GTO sells reasonably well, there may be a case. My speculation anyway… if neither sell well, it probably doesn't make much business sense to re release it. Anybody know if the GTO is selling well? Haven't heard much chatter about it.
  13. So, uh... I hear if the '68 Coronet hits its sales targets, It would make the odds of seeing the '71-'72... much better.
  14. I love how you did the roof on the promo. The canopy top of the great idea. Incidentally, how did you do the roof? As in what did you use to attach it to the promo, and what material did you use for the canopy top? And how did you make the molding at the back of the canopy? It’s really cool how the AMT chargers roof fits so seamlessly.
  15. Yeah, I’ll take the 1/25 MPC version any day over that. Those 1/18 scale versions always looked… Awkward. They just never fit right. I’m just floored that A 1/18 scale 72 Road Runner exists. I have not seen it for sale anywhere else other than this site. Is this a preproduction version?
  16. Yes, and apparently, if you look at the product page (link below), you’ll see the manufacturer is…. Round2. ?
  17. So… this came out of nowhere. Did anyone know??? https://www.hpd.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=257_918&products_id=69375
  18. That just came with the picture. 1972coronet showed a '72 with an air grabber, so I had to counter with a '71 with the standard RR hood. ? Correct, the fender strobe stripes were only an option on the '72, so the picture was wrong. There were a set of solid fender strips available for '71 but that was only an option for the GTX (I *think*) Yes... sort of. I can confirm my parent's RR (the one you see in the first post) had a 400 with the standard hood and no callout, but I have seen others with it. I think it *might* have depended on the tape package, although I can't say for certain. Things were far more loosey-goosey back then coming from the factory and sometimes the dealer added some stuff. Plus different items were added (and taken away) later in the model year. For example, my parents RR was delivered in November of '71 and came with the Satellite header ornament (a plymouth logo). Others came with a Road Runner decal.
  19. There’s going to be crumbs left of these kits by the time they get into stores and people get a chance to get their hands on them or their pre-orders fulfilled.
  20. Not really. There are some variations for the base trim, but the buckets are the same as well as the upper level trim. You could use that for both years.
  21. So, lets see the parts variations: - rear bumper, tail lights - valance panel - front grill piece - either hood would work. The airgrabber came with the ‘71 original and reissue. ‘72 came with stock. It’d be neat if both are included. Not sure about the rest of you, but I’d much rather prefer stock (72 version) There are some variations with decals, but that shouldn't be too big of a deal. It’s just decals. The only other sticking point I see is the body itself with the side markers. Since the 71 side markers are segmented and slightly larger than the 72s, I say resolve them with decals as well. (Although getting them in the exact right spot would be a pain.). And one other thing that I’m sure some people know: the front header panel had a slight variation with the makers mark. 71 was molded into the body (I’m talking about the actual car) the 72 was a chrome piece. That is one I don’t know how to resolve, because at that point you’re getting into the weeds and it would be adding to overhead cost of the kit. The other thing I now realize: 72 body had the running bird etched in between the door and the rear fender. You have to get rid of that… and resolve it with a decal. If anyone at Round2 needs to consult me, send a PM. ?
