  1. That is deflating. I'd contact them, the challenge would be figuring out a way to get around the corporate stonewall boiler plate, cut and paste answer "not in our plans, etc but we will consider it"... Do Round2Corp people read this forum?
  2. Ya know.... Since you mention it... Call me crazy - and everyone here certainly has a right to - but if someone from Round2Corp could chime in with a figure of much it would actually cost to repair the tooling for that kit... I swear I'll put up a gofundme page for it. No joke. Businesses do it all the time, but I'll do it for them. Hey, If the gofundme page flounders, they they were right. Mia culpa. I just don't think it will though. My hunch. I've wanted that '72 kit since I was five years old. And it's a crime that it hasn;t been reissued. In fact, I WILL BUY an original (which go for hundreds of dollars) and DONATE IT TO THEM, to help get it done. (Obviously, they'll need more than just a donor kit)
  3. OK, I won't flame throw this time... I'm just going to ask a question: Are ALL of the kits they release based on tooling that has already existed? They don't make/create (or in this case, repair) original tooling?
  4. You are correct, they own AMT, not Revell. My mistake. I get the two confused. They do however, own Autoworld and Autoworld releases 71 B-bodies all the time. I don't buy the damaged tooling excuse. Again, if they have to retool stuff, the amount of retooling they'd have to do is minimal. Hood, Body, Bumpers. They have everything else. If guys can produce resin versions on their own... Fix the tooling. The demand is there. I mean, seriously... where did the tooling for this kit come from?
  5. Dearest Round2Corp, I don't understand this... I mean I REALLY don't understand this. Another '74 Road Runner retread? COME ON! Tooling, demand, cost, blah blah blah. I don't buy it. Somebody over there has it in for these kits. *IF* they feel there is demand for the '74 kit, then why would they feel is ISN'T demand for the 71-72 kit? I call bull... Again, I don't get or buy their reasoning (more appropriately, I think they're full of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH). Here's why: - Tooling? Or lack there of? Revel has been selling the '71 GTX 1/24 kit for years. They own Revel don't they? Autoworld seems to have no problem constantly reissuing there 1:18 scale model '71 RR and GTX kit. THEY HAVE THE TOOLING!! Wrong scale? Make it a 1:24 kit! - Or how about this: BUY A <BLEEPING> 3D PRINTER!!! Scale it down. If regular people are able to make resin replicas of the Body, grille inserts and bumper/tail lights for the '72, how can they say they can't do it or don't have the tooling?! Now-a-days, making things like this is a heck of a lot cheaper than it use to be. Don't give me the cost excuse. - Also, THEY HAVE three quarters of the kit ALREADY TO GO!!! The interior pieces/engine/chassis from the '74 Road Runner or '71 Charger fit PERFECTLY!! COST should NOT be an issue!! NO MORE EXCUSES ROUND2!! If you say, cost, tooling demand is an issue, but you can also reissue this kit out of the blue you're lying to us. Don't give us some boiler play lame response about "no plans at the present time" PUT IT IN YOUR PLANS!! DO IT! NOW! Thank you for your time... Enjoy your day.
  6. If you ordered a the stripe delete option on the 73/74 you would get a hard nameplate with emblem on the C-Pillar. (in same place as the stripe) If you ordered a full vinyl top, you would get a hard nameplate and emblem that was pushed lower on the C-pillar and looked kind of awkward. I didn't know the Coyote drove a Ford
  7. Yep, that's exactly what they told me. I suppose you can't expect them to say much more than that. What they said to me on their YouTube channel was a little more disconcerting, saying it isn't in their plans at the present time. But, plans can change. I hope. I'd probably buy ten of them if they reissued it. (Well, ten of them if it's the '72. I'd only by five of the '71 )
  8. Yeah, looks like we got everything except the message. What exactly did the say?
  9. You'd need: - Body - F/R Bumpers (71,72) - Grill inserts - Hoods (air grabber/Stock hopefully) All the other stuff can come from the '74 RR kit. So basically 3/4 of the kit/tooling is already done. How much could that cost? I'd bet the house that they've spent more money on resurrecting other kits that haven't sold nearly as well as this one probably would. But, as they've stated, it's not it their plans so whatever...
  10. BTW, Rustic Mist is a pretty good stand-in for Tawny Gold Metallic. (Although it goes on like @#$%!!!. I have a lot of sanding to do on the other side)
  11. Not a link, it was Round2's response when I asked them whether or not they will reissue the 71/72 MPC Road Runner. It was posted on their Youtube channel Round2foryou.
  12. Here you go folks. Right from horses mouth: (Round2foryou) Translation: A vague nebula of "don't hold your breath" Given what's been said around here about the condition of the tooling, it probably ain't gonna happen.
  13. For the record... My brother's 73 Road Runner. blueprinted 400 with 440 heads:
  14. Yup, I have that one too and it's kind of a stinker. Wrong decals and the box art is completely inaccurate. At least it's modeled in white. The original issue was modeled red but the box art was accurate for the decals.
  15. Tim, Those '73, '74 and the '72 Road Runners are near and dear to my heart. My oldest brother owned a red '74 with a 360, factory A/C, factory AM/FM stereo cassette, sun roof, white buckets. It wasn't the quickest RR in the world, but man was it nice. And THEN, he owned a brown '73 with a blue printed 400 with 440 heads, 3.91 rear, craigers and blue streaks in the back. That wasn't as cushy as the red RR, but that car could "haul the mail". It ran a 1/4 in the low 13s. I have a picture of it somewhere, that I'll post if I can. And then there was this: I came home from the hospital as a newborn in this car. Needless to say, I really hope they reissue the kit.
  16. You know the release a few years back in the tin box with the 4" Road Runner? I just bought a couple of them off of Hobbylinc. My thoughts : What a REALLY NICE kit! Thoughtful, cool packaging, the decals are correct and... perfect, all the right parts. They did such a great job with this. You can tell, there was a lot of thought and care that went into it. Now, if only they'd do this nice a job reissuing that 71/72 Road Runner kit!!! BTW, it took my son 30 seconds to break the 4" Road Runner!
  17. And yet another year goes by without a release of the 71/72 MPC Plymouth Road Runner model that they absolutely should find a way to reissue. Bad tooling or not. Lame.
  18. Wow... there's some serious detail in there... beautiful. Did that Revell kit come with Road Runner decals? I know the Johan '69 (and I believe '70) Road Runner kit had them hard-molded into the body. Although the Johan Superbird did not...
  19. I have a glue bomb of that Monogram GTX kit that I converted into a Road Runner... using Fred Cady decals! The decals never looked quite right though. I'll have to dig it out at some point and post a pic. To answer the OPs question, If I had a choice between the Johan kit and the Revell kit (and $500 to through out the window), I'd go with the Johan. Better yet, buy the Revell, then put $470 back in your pocket.
  20. Wait... Your talking about the 1987 release, right? I thought the 71 RR was still an MPC kit. Or did Ertl own MPC?
  21. Apparently I have too much time on my hands: I found a semi-sort of interesting tidbit on the Round2 blog about some of the moldings they used for the Daisy Duke Road Runner. Not back dated to the correct '73-'74 specs? Some parts were altered? What parts? For what kits? The 71 reissue? Hmm... lets see what else it says. Chassis pan? With dual exhaust detail? Why would THAT have been modified? For the 75/76? For the Volare? Well... why was the instrument panel changed? What instrument panel did they use previously? What tooling did they use to make the original kit? What kit/tooling did they pillage to change it back to the original? Was it the '72? More questions than answers...
  22. Wow... Part of me wants to cheer, part of me wants to vomit. If they tool up the rear bumper, lets hope they tool up the proper 72 grill as well. And please, for the LOVE OF GOD, let there be the option to build it stock. Apparently, FF8 doesn't have the rights to use the Road Runner name plate/decals. BTW, that Monogram Satellite kit was a really nice kit.
  23. Hmmm... - Those were the exact same interior panels that my parents real 1:1 '72 RR had - although they had black bench seats, but the door panels were the same as the 1/25 model. I thought those door panels were the only ones that came with the '72 RR. I know the '71 had different options. Yes. Absolutely. Those were the only kits ever produced of a '72 Road Runner. It's the best we will get. The imperfections wouldn't bother me as long as it has the standard RR 'C scoop call-out' hood, the '72 grill insert, and those '72 tail lights. Now, if Monogram decided to reissue their '71 Satellite kit, and retool it as a '72, then I'd take that over an MPC in a second. The detail on the 1/24 Monogram is far better than detail on the 1/25 MPC. But there is absolutely NO WAY that is going to happen. Monogram never had the tooling for the '72 parts in the first place. If anybody wants a model kit of a '72 Road Runner - as I do - Round2 is the only one who could do it. If they don't reissue it, it probably aint gonna happen.
  24. Ace: Look, I'll admit, I know very little about the plastic model biz. All I have is a rudimentary understanding of business in general. So, I might very well be talking out of my butt here; feel free to tell me I'm off my head. My wife does it to me all the time. But, I just can't imagine that it would take such a huge investment to reissue a kit that they've already produced 90% of the parts for. The under carriage, engine parts, interior parts, windshield, etc are already in use in a number of kits: MPC 74 Road Runner. AMT 74 GTX, MPC Daisy Duke Plymouth, the 71 Charger (can't remember if it's AMT or MPC). Would it really cost 10 to 15 grand to produce a rear/front bumper, hood, and body, plus grill molding and clear plastic lenses? Resin makers have already been producing them. I know resin and injection plastic are totally different beasts, but if a guy in his basement can do it... Who cares if it's like the annual or not. Few people would know the difference. Pillage and plunder the parts from the other kits, then re-issue it the cheapest way possible. Just get it out there. Even if it's not exact, people will buy it. It's not a question. Again, they've done this in the past for other kits that were rarer. Why won't they do it for the 71/72 RRs?
