Bringing this thread back back. I currently have them in the sun to finish post curing. I'll pull the wheels off my completed 250 this weekend to see how they fit. They're supposed to be 1/24th scale to fit the Fujimi but my initial reaction leaves me concerned they might be smaller than I had hoped for. FYI shipping was surprisingly fast and cost effective from France so I wouldn't hesitate to order from him again.

I didn't want wheelie bars, so I built this slip joint chassis beginning with a kit from 540 Outlaws. I installed it under a Moebius '69 F100 long box in order to keep the interior intact. Dancing Bear wheels. I added a 3d printed electric motor (I mean it's powered by electricity after all ) and customized the interior with some late model Mustang bits and a scratch built center console. I decided to create a custom cowl style hood because both the piece in the box and the replacement I was sent were warped.

I nabbed a couple F-350 pickups a while back and figured this guy needed to lose some weight. With the popularity of these trucks in real world drag racing, I was toying around with the idea of using a set of bead lock wheels and drag radials that I printed.

That's really unique. I like it!

These two are probably my favorites. Sorry for the weird angle but the Daytona coupe is Exoto and Shelby Collectibles GT-40. I picked up some gumball decals to add numbers on the GT-40. I'm not sure why they weren't on there to begin with, but I picked it up second hand. Anyone have any idea why it may not have come with numbers, such as a unique version or something?

Is Model Builders' Warehouse still around? Their website says it'll be back soon, and Randy seems to have ghosted me. On the other hand, I was able to reach Harold and resolved my concerns with him directly. What a nice gentleman and he quickly offered to send me some replacement parts!

I received your email on March 2nd stated that you'd be able to acquire the replacement parts and I responded within 30 minutes to confirm that I'm happy to pay for any replacements and/or shipping. Hey folks. I ended up trying the black automotive bumper repair stuff. It did a great job of adhering to the tire but it's quite thick which made it difficult to use in a small area. It got a bit messy but I was ultimately able to get the sidewalls to look respectable. I sealed them with a matte acrylic clear and painted flat black. I'm not completely happy with way yhe tread and sidewall detail looks. So, I ordered some black, rubber-like resin for my 3d printer. Now I just need to figure out how to draw up a CAD file. I included a pic of how it looks right now. I'm still finishing up some final details and I've come up with a plan for the headlight lens I'll post later. Thanks again!

Is Historic Racing Miniatures or Model Builder's Warehouse still active? I've tried calling and emailing both without any luck. I have a Daytona Coupe kit from HRM and I'm trying to get replacement clear parts because they've all turned yellow.

Thank you for some great ideas folks! I'll try to respond to most based on my current time line and skill set. For background, my goal for this kit is to build it for competition in box stock classes. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to locate a .stl file and fire up the trusty 3d printer. If someone knows of a file out there that replicates these tires, I'd be extremely interested! I would try and contact the kits maker and see if they wouldn't replace these tires... -Espo The last issue of this kit was 1989. From what I can tell this issue has plagued this kit since it's initial release in 1985. I contacted some seller's on eBay that had open kits and they're reporting the same problem too. You'd think it would've been addressed after the first run. Can you flip the tires and use the other side? -Steve Unfortunately, they're on both sides. Repairing the existing tires. A few folks. Attempting to fix these was my initial thought. I've never tried to repair a rubber or vinyl tire like this. I will definitely be investigating some of the suggestions mentioned above. You might check with Harold Bradford at Historic Racing Miniatures. -Shark. That's interesting thought as well. I reached out to him last month in an attempt to locate some replacement clear parts for his Daytona Coupe that have yellowed in my kit. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything in return. I would cast one and then repair it, then cast four good ones... - Vintage AMT I do like that suggest as well. However, I've never attempted to cast anything beyond foil casting. I'd like to have the car done for a show next month, if not, definitely May. If anyone is around the Madison, WI area and would be interested in casting a few please reach out. Thanks again guys. I greatly appreciate all of the input and I definitely have some avenues to pursue. I'll be sure to follow up with whatever solution I come up with.

I'm working on the first release of the Gunze Sangyo Ferrari 250 GTO (G223:4000) with the white metal parts. I've noticed a lot of issues with the surface of the metal parts but I didn't think to examine the tires until I was well into building this kit. I've discovered what some have referred to as cold mold lines in the rubber tires. I'm not sure what the correct term is but I can say that it is a set back if you intend to use the kit tires. I think they're too deep to sand and smooth without significantly altering the profile. Has anyone encountered this with a rubber tire? If so, did you find a filler or other solution to repair the surface?

I used Testor Flat Green and Bright Gold. I would like to knock down the brightness a little. The flash must have really brought out the metallic it doesn't look that bad in person. Thank you for all the ideas to recreate the coating! I definitely have some more experimenting to do.

I've been doing some research on options for replicating the Dow-7 coating used on magnesium wheels. I haven't had much luck in finding a specific brand/color to paint the wheels for my project. Part of the issue is that the real coating doesn't last very long and will darken as it ages from a greenish/gold to the gray. Here is something I came up with last night. Its basically just a 50/50 mix of Testors Gold and Flat Green although I feel a touch of gray to darken it might have helped.

Great work! I'm curious about the foil work. I havent heard of painting over it. Why this method rather than over the paint?

Hello, my brother and I grew up building and collecting with our dad. My dad is still very active in the hobby which I'm grafeful for as it helps inspire me to get back into the hobby. I'm at the point in my life where kids and other life distractions take up my time. I do dabble here and there with pulling out a kit and mocking it up especially this time of the year when the big toys get put away. I'm really impressed with the builds and over all knowledge here. What a great website! I'm looking at carving out a small space to try and build some this winter. My kids really enjoyed doing the Build and Take at this summer's Car Craft Nationals in Milwaukee this summer and have asked about building more. In the mean time I'll continue to enjoy the great work you guys are sharing. THanks
