  1. Great advice guys, thanks a lot!! I think I'll give the boiling water a go first
  2. Hi guys! I know there is a topic similar to this, but I thought I would start a new one to get some fresh opinions. Basically, I've been working on my Tamiya Supra kit, and have noticed that the hood doesn't quite have as much curvature as it should, causing it to sit slightly higher than the bumper when closed. To cure this I can simply bend the hood slightly so the leading edge comes down slightly lower to improve the fitment, I hope this makes some sort of sense!! So has anyone had a go at doing this? I assume heat is the answer, but dose anyone have any tricks or tips regarding what to use as a heat source? The last thing I want to do is melt it as I don't have another! Thanks Chris
  3. The Supra and Charger from the first Fast and Furious comes to mind. Also, the Audi TT and Porsche Boxter from Mission Impossible 2 is a more obscure one! Could also have the Charger and Challenger from Deathproof.
  4. Thanks for the help guys! Really appreciate it
  5. I'll definitely refer to that section more often in future. I've only been on the forum for 2 days and it's members have already been an immense help to me!!
  6. Brilliant!! That's cleared everything up perfectly Thanks very much!!
  7. Hi guys, so I'm looking into the paint I will be using for my Tamiya Supra build, and I'm pretty keen on using Tamiya's own brand of spray paint. the only confusion I have is which one do I get? I assume the kit is plastic not poly-carbonate (I'm not good at spotting the differences). There are acrylic, TS, PS, AS, etc... Which would be best suited for me? I'm fairly new to spraying models so just thought I had better ask. Thanks Chris
  8. they really are great fun to drive! Tiny little 948cc engine, but it's so light you hardly notice! I've been trying to get hold of one of the Gunze Sangyo kits, but they're quite pricey now! And to think, my Mini would probably fit inside the wheelbase of your xb!
  9. That's not a bad idea! I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future, thanks mate.
  10. Lovely work! The 69 Charger is a dream car of mine, and you've certainly done it justice!
  11. Thanks a lot! I often forget how tiny it is haha. Even here in the UK it looks miniature compared to some of the cars we have on the roads. The car in the reflection is one of my dad's toys; his 1959 Austin Healy Frogeye Sprite. It'e been in the family for generations. The shark mouth was added for a bit of fun for a road trip through France for the Le Mans 24hrs Here's a better pic of it, alongside my Mini before the full rebuild. Thanks again for all the help guys! I knew joining this forum was a good idea
  12. That's perfect! I did some searching and have just found some from Japan for half the price! Ordered them now, can't wait to get started on this kit!
  13. This is absolutely phenomenal!! Could someone link the progress thread? I'd love to read it!
  14. Thanks dude! I appreciate it. makes all the hard work worthwhile I shall do indeed! When I get some free time to actually make a start lol. I've already started a mkIV Toyota Supra Tamiya kit which will be a replica of my dad's car, so I'll get that one out of the way first. Not to mention that I'm still working on the real car!
  15. These look perfect!! I doubt you would even notice the size difference at such a small size, do you have a link to them? I had actually seen the Fujimi's, and am definitely considering them if I can't get anything closer. Excellent idea regarding swapping the centers though. Thanks very much for the help so far guys! Some excellent suggestions here! The problem I have is that funds are a lttle tight at the moment so I cant really justify buying an entire kit just fot the wheels, as much as I would like too! Here is a pic of my car so you can see what I'm getting at. Not the best photo but you can get the idea.
  16. Hi everyone, I'm new here and about to undertake my first serious model build in a very long time. The kit I have is the Tamiya 1:24 scale Morris Mini Cooper Racing, which will be built as a replica of my own car which I spent 7 years restoring. I have collected all the various parts that I will need except for wheels, which really have me stumped! My car has 13" x 7" deep dish banded steel wheels, and it's proving impossible to find anything similar in 1:24 scale. Does anyone have any suggestions? Something vaguely similar I could adapt? Maybe a kit that includes similar wheels that I could use with mine? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry if this is in the wrong section, I was't sure. Thanks Chris
  17. Hi guys! My name is Chris and I'm 24 I've been building all my life, starting out with stiff like Lego (as I'm sure we all did), building up to proper model kits, and up to actually restoring an actual car; My 1988 Austin Mini. In the past, I've always tended to stick to the instructions as I never knew there was such a vast array of personalisation choices for model cars! So this has led me to begin a few builds in which I will be taking the fine details much more seriously. I have two builds lined up which I have been collecting parts for. One is the Tamiya 1:24 Toyota Supra, which will be a replica of my dad's car, an the second is the Tamiya 1:24 Morris Mini Cooper Racing, which will be a replica of my own car. I'm here to observe how other builders construct their masterpieces, and hopefully learn a thing or two that I can apply to my own builds! Pleasure to be here
