  1. Here's one for ya.
  2. Gentlemen. And everyone else too. After conferring with Gregg, he will not be altering the poll function for our December race poll. I'm not angry at him, there are other options. I've found this. http://www.poll-maker.com/ I'm fairly certain a site like this will allow us to create ONE poll with all entrants listed, so we get one winner. Easy-peasy. We'll create a completed builds thread like we did last year, and add a link to the poll elsewhere. I'll get with Tim when the time comes and we'll get it sorted. Problem solved.
  3. This I gotta see. I quite agree. And trust me I will. I just value the input from you folks, and since your thoughts seem to jive with mine, I feel even better with my decision.
  4. This ....................... is .......................................amazing. That interior is perfection.
  5. Having built that '57 before, I'll be watching how you do on this.
  6. Try using a little of the rust paint and adding some talcum. I have been using talcum and acrylic craft paints for some time.
  7. New subject. Lets talk about glossy paint. How suitable would a nice gloss paint job be on a sleeper 77 Pacer wagon? You think it would come off as a polished turd and be unremarkable, or do you think it would stick out and kick it out of the sleeper category? My final goal for this model will be something oddball that I can compete in the tuner category with at local contests. So after the Cannonball photos I'll be adding some racing decals and a wheel/tire change. But I want a nice gloss paint job. So am I gonna have to paint this one twice or you think a glossy paint job would still fly? I'm torn here. The car will look VERY stock when I'm done with it. Standard street tires with chrome baby moons. I could REALLY use some feedback.
  8. Nothing is wrong with Washington. I'd just rather do my job at home. I had my fill of being away while I was deployed in the Coast Guard. I'm not going to be bringing my models. I'm told that I'm in for long hours and long weeks, so what time I have I'll probably take in the sights a bit. I'll be in Redmond, not too far from Seattle. However I just found out (minutes ago) that there is still a meeting with the project lead tomorrow, to determine suitability on both sides. They are looking for an RF tech and my RF experience is easily 15 years out of date so we'll see how it goes. Fingers crossed.
  9. Man, I knew things were going too well with my build. Nothing is wrong with the model, but my employer is sending me to Washington (state) for eight weeks. I just cannot catch a break.
  10. Agreed. Something like adhesive shelf paper on the edges of the wood and legs to prevent sprinters. The gussets will be a must have too.
  11. Grumpy Old Men.
  12. This one might be tough.
  13. Guys, I tried to copyright my signature line, but it just wouldn't fly. So by all means feel free to plagiarize at will. Maybe we'll start a new trend.
  14. Very likely. We have a Nascar section. Odds are you will find them here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=32
  15. Which you could probably work out without altering the chassis, by just slightly lengthening the wheel arches.
  16. Just for the record, what "other" forum are we talking about. And to answer the inferred question - IGNORE THEM. They are just petty human beings, likely jealous that you post work superior to theirs. Or whats often worse, is good builders, who seek to rub the fact in everyone's face. In either case they are pitiful human beings, whom you should give no thought to at all. Nuff said.
  17. Too much sedan and too much bed. I'd take enough out of the sedan so that the rear window is only half as wide. And then knock the bed down by half. Just my 2 cents.
  18. There is no cutoff date to start. Post up your unstarted kit or rebuild and get cracking. Glad to have you.
  19. Jeepers Creepers. Cool horror movie.
  20. Dontcha just love it when that works out? Very nice planning Andy. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
  21. Wow. That's very impressive.
  22. Yeah Bruce. There going to be an awful lot of scratch-building and major mods for most of us on this build. Great idea on that bumper. I'm not sure how chocolate is secret equipment, unless there will be a woman driving with you, Welcome to the build off George.
  23. Yeah, that's looking good. It's got a great Sunday bracket racer look. Very authentic.
  24. Some work on the chassis. For the first time in my modeling "career" I had to resort to JB Weld to get a good bond for the front subframe.
