Looking for some spare number 99 decals from this kit. I'd like to do a third number plate on the front fascia - and it has the plate but only two sets of 99.
Any chance you have them and I can buy them off you? Thanks!
Just finished up the truck and trailer for the Cobra Racing Team kit. Very happy overall with the results. Went with a period correct Turquoise color along with a white/Turquoise two tone interior. Kit was pretty nice overall with only a few minor fitment issues. I did the bed using 1/4 in balsa wood along with plastic strips which I painted on the chrome. Also went with the hemi engine but did all else pretty much stock with the exception of the floor shifter. I modified the trailer by using some tires and chrome wheels I had leftover from another kit as what comes with the kit are plastic. Now to move on the do the Cobra build. Going to try and replicate the Dan Gurney 99 Cobra to the best I can.
I just bought this kit. I did the same thing on the trailer - used some tires and wheels I had left over from another kit. Getting ready to spray the trailer and assemble. Still trying to figure out the color for the truck and I'll build the Cobra as a race car, so it will be blue. Yours looks good! Nice work on the truck and flares.
The weathering/rust on this is incredible. I'm wanting to do this on a rat-rod I've got in the que. Any tips or tricks would be MUCH appreciated. Although I can understand if you don't want to give away secrets..........
Since recently joining this site - I haven't posted any of my recent builds. I'll do that after having a chance to get some good pics of them. The latest is a BRE Datsun 510. Owned a modified 510 back in the late 70's early 80's. Always loved em. This is my first attempt at doing any wiring since the old days (40+ years ago) when I used to use thread and twist ties. The model came with hoses and honestly they sucked. Couldn't get them to attach correctly or bend at all. So I figured I'd give the scale braided hoses and plug wires a shot. Happy with the results. Unfortunately the model places parts in different locations that the real car. Since I had originally planned on running the hoses/wiring that came with the model - I left them in those locations. Pic of the original car for comparison.
Like I need another forum to participate in .....
Long time model car builder - in fact - started about 50 years ago.... I remember building a van back in the day - complete with a water bed and shag carpeting. Used to use my moms sewing thread for wiring and stripped down metal bread twist ties to use for brake lines and other hard lines.
Hadn't built one though in a long long time - did a couple about 15 years or so ago and then on and off for the last couple years.
With the onset of retirement - I've gotten back in the fray.
Pretty impressed with the builds being done on this site. Lots of good detail being done.
Here's one of my latest - a tribute to my uncle who owned a dark blue metallic 66 back when we were kids. He passed when we were nine. He was the ultimate car guy.
Recently finished a Porsche 911 GT1 and a 49 Merc. Still a couple finishing touches on them and then I'll post em in the appropriate forums.
