  1. Clayton, Is this the website you were thinking of? www.socalcarculture.com http://www.socalcarculture.com/modelcarlinks.html Dave
  2. Very impressive! I will certainly be getting the odd one or two when they are released. Dave
  3. Chris, That front bumper looks perfect. This is a great looking truck. It certainly is a beast. A 6x6DM is something I would not have thought about building. But seeing this I might just change my mind. Excellent! Dave
  4. Excellent build. That old dog will look great outside in the sun. Dave
  5. Matthew, I like the very wide turn signs. Very Appropriate. Dave
  6. Found some brake components on Chris's (Sourkraut's) web site: http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/?page_id=3&category=3&page_number=8 Air Brake detail set AB1 Dave
  7. Scott, An excellent project! The build looks increadibly clean. With regards to the yellow Clatterpillar paint try some weathering on the engine this will hide the imperfections and add some realism to the truck. Dave
  8. Tim, Great work so far. I agree with the others, the blue frame with the white cab look very striking. Dave
  9. Wasn't the CBE (We call them half cabs) offered by STS a KW. I have a couple of photo's of a Kenworth CBE being worked on by Evan Hermel. I saved these of the old truckmodeler web site a few years ago. The second photo shows how the torsion bar system is fixed to the frame. For anyone fitting a torsion bar system remember that the torsion bars are not parallel with the frame They are at an angle. On the rear axle they are outside on the front they are inside. So if you look on top in plan view they would come to a point some where in front of the truck. Like a big triangle. Dave
  10. Thats quite a comprehensive list of V8 engines. There are a lot more than you first think of. It would be great if we had a sort of spread sheet which listed all engines, transmissions, suspensions etc and where you can get them from. But I don't know how we could get that put together on the forum. Ray, I put the Sourkraut 12V71 DD in my WF Heavy Hauler. Yes it is good! Dave
  11. Check out this beast for sale on Truckpaper.com 1979 W900 with Aluminum Frame, Cummins KTA600 and Torsion Bar Suspension. http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=2512091 Dave
  12. Blake, Looks like your off to a good start. I like it. Dave
  13. Ray, Looks good! I was just thinking that you got the colour of the engine perfect then noticed the rattle can in the background! Did you get that direct from Clatterpillar? Oh by the way I like both the short frome and the long frame. The long frame reminds me of the Alaskan KW Tim has just built. The truck looks good in the grey primer and the black frame. Gives it that sort of aged weathered look. Dave
  14. Cam, Hopefully we will be getting this cast in the New Year so the transmission selection will be down to who is building it. On the two 359s that I have planned they will be 13 speed 12513 transmissions. Dave
  15. This looks great. I really like the dash. Nice work! Dave
  16. Tony, Jim, Thanks for the comments. More progress has been made. I have been concentrating on how the engine will fit in a truck frame. The two frames in mind are both the two AMT T500 and T501 frames. I have had to make dedicated crossmembers for each frame to fit the engine. Its been an imortant exercise because I found one or two places where the engine clashed with frame parts so some slight adjustments will be required. Anyways its starting to shape up nicely. More photo's and description here: http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/project-4-14/img00420-20101121-0840.html Thanks for looking. Dave
  17. Cam, I think it looks great! Excellent weathering. Dave
  18. Rick, That is an excellent project. It has all aspects of modelling and will definately help to develop your skills, which I might add look pretty good as they are. Great Work. Dave
  19. Jim, It will certainly fit under an extended hood W900. Not sure about the standard hood though. I have seen photo's of KTA 600's fitted in 359 Pete's with 119" BBC. So maybe KW did fit them in the standard hood W900? As for year I believe the KTA was introduced about 1973 and lasted at a guess till early 1980's? Dave
  20. Well a little more progress to report on. The water pump and oil cooler are complete. More photo's here: http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/project-4-14/ Thanks for looking. Dave
  21. Eric, The details look great. This is the project engine I mentioned. Its not a KTA Cummins. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37480 Dave PS: That KTA really is setting the standard and will take some beating.
  22. Ryan, Sounds like some sort of medical procedure!! Will these tyres be available as aftermarket parts. I really like big tyres some of the old AMT tyres looked more like car tyres than truck ones. Dave
  23. Eric, That Engine kit looks great. Very impressed with the detail. I bought some KTA resin engines a few years ago but they were missing some important details such as compressor and fuel pump. I had to scratch build these myself. Maybe when I get my Project engine completed I will send it to you to see whether it can be cast? On another note, I contacted you a while ago reference an extended hood for a AMT 359 little window Pete. The one you offer was a custom hood. But I would like to know does the hood fit the AMT 359 little window and 1100 series cabs and grills? If so I need a couple. As long as they fit thats all I need. I can add rivet details and other items thats easy. But its the actual hood I need. Keep up the good work. Dave
  24. Jim, Good idea about contacting Howard at KFS. I'll send him an E-mail and see what response I get. I made some more progress this week! The engine block is started and the fan and crank damper are almost complete. I'm not going to finish all parts until I know that they all fit and they look right. Still alot of work to do but its starting to look like an engine. More photo's here: http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/project-4-14/ Dave
  25. Scott, That thing is a beast!! As for colours, maybe white wheels with blue spokes, top half of the cab white, bottom half of the cab, frame and axles blue. Dave
