  1. To me. If that is the only problem. The fun of modeling is using some plastic panels and some putty to repair it. I really want the 1974 Vega Grumpy's model. Did they make one of these? Not sure if they made one. Way back as a young teenager, I had a '74 Vega GT. Laugh if you want, but I wish I had it now. The things I could do with it with the parts of today.
  2. Might take a little more cutting and fabbing up if you want to build close to the original. "Then, in 1972, when the NHRA changed its Pro Stock rules to allow a small-block wedge engine in a lighter car, Jenkins built a Chevrolet Vega with the first purpose-built tube chassis and powered it with a small-block 331-cubic-inch engine."
  3. Waiting for a kit to come in, I made these stands from what I use to call left over frames. They've came in handy a few times to hold things up.
  4. Nice. That brings back memories. I worked at the Volvo plant in Virginia for about 10 years. About this time around the early 1980"s. Volvo wanted to race the 242 turbo in a sports class some where Im not sure. To race a particular vehicle, you had to produce 500. We did 250 and another plant did 250. We removed the smallish turbo, waste gate, along with the intake with the small runners. Replaced with a huge turbo / waste gate setup, along with many other parts, even changed the hood. It wouldnt close with these parts on. All wiring harnesses, and all had to look factory installed. A few had water injection installed. I worked in QC so I got to road test these to make sure they didnt over boost. Some did and shut down. The waste gate was adjusted and sealed and I retested. With this setup it revved very quick, way faster than stock. After all were done and inspected by an outside source. All parts were pulled back off, packed up, and stock parts replaced. That was a fun project to be involved in.
  5. Did any one make a model of Don Nicholson's Pro Stock Fairmont. I saw him several times at a local track with the Fairmont in the late 70's. He was testing the new car and making runs. I have a pic of him putting decals on the Fairmont. I've seen most of the kits of his cars, but not this one. Could probably make one, just dont have the decals. Thanks.
  6. I do remember at the time when I noticed it, I wanted to show it to my dad as he was a Ford guy.
  7. I bought a new Jeep CJ5 in '76 . It had the 258 straight 6 cyl. I remember It had the Chevrolet bowtie emblem cast on the side of the block. I thought that was strange at the time. It ran pretty good. I had bigger tires on it, used it here in Carolina on the beach fishing.
  8. I remember seeing Ivo race at Suffolk Raceway in Suffolk ,Va in the mid 70's. He had the the carrier with the glass sides. We live about 25 miles from 2 drag strips.
  9. Its been a month since the last post. Im looking for a large Grey, any left. Thanks.
  10. I remember getting this Dyno Don Eliminator Funny car kit, back in the late 60's.There were many others, But I remember this kit and the dragster Hippie Hemi. I think this dragster kit came in red. Back then most places, they were $2. There was a place I use to go with my mom that was a discount store that also sold models. They had the same exact kits selling them for 75 cents. I usually got more than one if I remember right, depending on my funds.
