  1. So, for all you die hard & life long 1:1 drag racers like myself. Here are just a few of hundreds of pictures I took the 3 years I lived in Denver @ Bandimere Speedway. I hope someone can find these useful as I know there are some on here who are extremely detail oriented in their scale building. ENJOY! https://photos.app.goo.gl/MB9ZpPYCirvGUGTf7
  2. What AWESOME memories this thread brings back to me. I spent many years working for my Dad pumping gas at his stations. He had 2 Texaco's and a Gulf. Those were the best times of my life. Wish I had pics of his stations to share but living in that time I never thought of taking any pictures. I never thought many years later that these old Stations would be so highly admired by so many. I have collected old gas pumps, oil cans and signs for 30 years or more. Here is one (Martin & Schwartz Model 80) that I restored many years ago and gave it to Dad for this Birthday several years back. Dad passed away 2 years ago so my Mother decided that I should have it back.
  3. To define Mr. Tim: I AM BLOWN COMPLETELY AWAY over this build. This is unreal! prodigy noun prod·i·gy | \ ˈprä-də-jē \ plural prodigies Definition of prodigy 1a: a portentous event : OMEN b: something extraordinary or inexplicable 2a: an extraordinary, marvelous, or unusual accomplishment, deed, or event
  4. That looks great! Thanks for sharing.
  5. I do as well. I have always like the color Orange for some reason, LOL.

  7. I think the Duster looks more orange (compared to Sox & martin's red/white & blue car in the background). the Plymouth looks more red to me, just my 2 cents. The orange is similiar to the GM Hugger Orange. My Dad used to have a 71 Chevy Blazer that was Hugger Orange that looked real close to this.
  8. NICE!!!!! That is a good catch. I might just give that one a try. Cutting as you have shown would make an almost perfect duplicate. Thanks,
  9. WOW, what a ton of good information. I have some sheet plastic ordered so I will play around with that when I get it. 30-35 years ago scratch building was a very easy thing for me. I had my eyesight and my hands didn't shake, LOL. It looks to be a fairly straight forward modification but it will take me some time as I don't move as fast as I used to. I will post of pics of my progress once I get started. Thanks for all this great info guys.
  10. NICE!!! That looks like it may work perfectly. Now, I have to figure out something for the tail lights. How did you convert those from GTO to Lemans?
  11. Hey guys. I have started my build on the 1:25 Revell 66' GTO. However, I am trying to convert the GTO tail lights to the Lemans version in order to replicate my Dad's 66' Lemans. I have been away from modeling for many many years. Can you guys tell me what would be the best way to do this; ideas, suggestions?
  12. That's awesome Rick! I would LOVE to find a 1:1 to replicate but that would take a lot of money that I don't have, LOL.
  13. Hahahaha, me too Curtis. I have no clue how to do the taillights just yet. Should be fun.
  14. Thanks Tom. No I haven't yet but I will slightly. This build will be a special one for me. I really want to take my time and cover all the details.
  15. Do you have any pics of your work? Sounds like the same kind of thing I will have to do. Thanks,
  16. That would be great! Thank you.
  17. So, here is my current project. I am building this 1/25 Revell 66' GTO to replicate the 66' Lemans that my Dad bought new in 66. His cars' original color was Reef Turquoise with a black vinyl top. A year or so after he bought the car new, he dropped in a full race BBC 427 that he got from a drag racing buddy of his. Dad added some chrome reversed wheels with red-line tires, and M/T valve covers. His car also came from the factory with a 4-speed, bucket seats and console. So far, I have ordered the exact GM code Reef Turquoise paint, vinyl top kit, BBC engine, headers, M/T valve covers (3D model specialties-Shapeways), chrome reversed wheels and red-line tires for this kit. I would like to find a "Lemans" flat hood, does anyone know where I can get that? I will post my updates as I go along. So far as pictured this is as far as I have gotten. Waiting for the paint, engine and vinyl top kit to come in. Still have quite a bit of body work to do in the mean time. Here is a picture of Dad's car in 1968/69.
  18. Thanks guys. I am looking forward to modeling again.
  19. Hello everyone. I am from Longview, Texas. I started modeling cars when I was about 8 years old. Once I got my drivers license, all modeling stopped, LOL. Now some 35 years later I have decided to return to the model car scene. My other hobbies include building, restoring and racing 1:1 cars, building and flying radio control airplanes and ducted fan jets. This looks to be a new learning experience in getting back into modeling as so much more stuff is available now that yields so much more detailed realism.
