Yeah, I couldn't see myself doing it either. I stressed big time. But it was for my good friend. She was not old at all, I believe in her 30's. We talked about how she would look as an angel; you know every thing being perfect and all. I think most women might see themselves as younger, no wrinkles, etc. This makes her look younger in this painting. Very challenging but Willie loves it. Jefbo

Thanks, gbritnell. I use a Badger XF 150 that I have been using for over 35 years. I have about six Badger 150's and one Paasche VL1 also about 30 years old. I keep the VL1 around because it will always work every time if I need to paint. The badgers are a much more precise air brush but very delicate. A breeze can bend the needle For this and most automotive murals I use House of Kolor. Jefbo

Hi Harry, I had the tank only in my studio. I hate to think of painting a tank on the bike. I do mostly freehand work I find the stencil work to labor intensive and then I find myself airbrushing over the stenciled work to keep it from looking like a stencil was used. I now do a lot of my composing in Photoshop. So with this tank, I printed out the various images, (faces, wings, dog heads) on printer paper. Cut out shapes to make a stencil, lay the paper in place and lightly dust a shade of paint on the tank just to lay the design out. The rest is all freehand. Jefbo

Where Do You Work And Paint?
Jefbo replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, what a day to show my workspace, what a mess. This is about as messy as it gets. But it's almost this bad all the time As for my Spray booth, this is where I do most of my paintwork. Notice I prefer the side draft design, and I went for the deluxe model for the occasional large-scale build. I just picked this up a few months back, when you absolutely positively have to paint something right NOW! I need a maid... Wait a minuet, DON'T TOUCH THAT! Jefbo -
Very nice work Stanleymsn, Iiiiii Like it! Keep the photos comming! BTW, your avatar is making me tired. Besides you'll get all sweaty waking backwards all day and catch pneumonia. Opps... too late Hope your feeling better. Jefbo

Ron, I have been to just about every Michael's in Dade and Broward counties and have had that happen to me on occasion too. Just ask them to ask the manager or sometimes-another cashier. By the way, you may already know this but, besides the newspaper 40% coupons, the "Flyer" also has 40% coupons that are good for much longer than the usual weekend. Jefbo

Msd...photoetch...paging Mr. Thibodeau
Jefbo replied to BKIN10SECS's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know about any photo-etch parts, but in addition to the Detail Master, Charley from Pro-Tech http://www.protechmodelparts.com has a MSD 6 Ignition Box and a MSD 7 Ignition Box in resin. And he's based right down the highway from you in Orlando. Jefbo -
That's the spirit Jerry Welcome to the board. Now let's see what you're working on. Jefbo

Yet Another Newbie.
Jefbo replied to roncomatic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
First let me say welcome Ron. Good to have you here. There does seem to be a lot of us Raul. I know quite a few of them, but a lot more I do not. I wonder how many I have met or have seen at the model events and did not make the connection. So Ron... what part of South Florida you from? Jefbo -
This is one of the more recent airbrush works I have done. Probably the toughest mural I have ever done. I was asked by my good friend Willie to portray his better half that had recently passed. I almost declined. I was to give her an angelic glow, soften the lines of her face almost give a child like look to her yet have it still look like her. I didn't think I pulled it off but Willie said it was perfect. Willie who is also a painter did the graphics & base paint on the bike. The dogs were hers and his and also passed on. Jefbo

George, you do some fine work. Thankyou Harry for restoring the image. How close is that to the origlnal hanging on the wall George? Jefbo

Thanks George, As for the losses... I'm mostly over them other then just keeping an eye out for them. And they were a long time ago. As for compensation for the work, the "Red '34" painting was stolen from MY Studio/Gallery, so I was responsible for insurance etc. so no comp. there. A shady gallery owner over 1000 miles away stole the “Motorcycle†painting. It dragged on & on... I wrote it off to lesson learned, definitely fishy. Over 30 years of an art career of sorts, two losses are not to bad. It's also two too many As for now, well let's just say my wife and I have a 10 year old boy! need I say more? All kidding aside, when my son was born, we needed to get out of the one bedroom condo and get a house. One condo + one art studio on Lincoln Road = one big house. So now I spend most of my time raising my son and restoring a 1930's Mediterranean house (think the movie "The Money Pit") . But I still do my art when I can. Some automotive, some commissions from old clients. I also do murals on the occasional Harley from time to time, but not nearly enough. I'm just not setup for a studio in the house at this point.

Hey Charlie, I'm going to enjoy watching this Mustang II build, and I'm looking forward to seeing you this Saturday at the model car show in Melbourne. I'm busting the piggy bank to stock up on some more fittings, braided lines and those new demon carbs. I'm bringing some of the guys from the club with me. Marc, I've been using Pro Tech for about two years now. Top-notch stuff. You have to see and use the braided lines... incredible, so real. Jefbo

I guess it all depends on how much of a dip. I have only had small dips to work with so far, What I have done, (got one on the bench right now) is fill, block sand, prime, fill, block sand, prime... till I get the ding out. Again, most of what I have been working on has been small dips. Sometimes when I get close, I shot a thin coat of black paint and wet sand with 3200 paper. The almost polished black paint shows everything. This is what I do but I'm always looking for a better way I suspect that's true for most of us here. Jefbo

Looking good Andrew, nice attention to the details. Is it me, or does the roof appear to dip in the center of the model? It may just be the photo angle. It's fun watching a build from the very beginning. Keep us posted. Jefbo

Jefbo replied to NitroMarty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
