  1. Dude said that he couldn't really do it anymore because of his eyes. I'm pretty sure that he built Gundam models and not cars, that's what it looks like anyway. Most of the stuff is brand new or barely used.
  2. Local Facebook score. $100 for everything.
  3. $20 at a flea market in southern Ohio today. Not much variety to the paint but for the price I'm not complaining.
  4. '79 Freightliner, still gettin the job done.
  5. Got my Pace Industries paint booth today. I'm happy to get something not only U.S. built but also made here in Ohio. I'm super excited to use it and be able to rattle can and use big spray heads on the airbrush indoors, but I've worked 30 hours in 2 days so it won't be tonight.
  6. I like to pop into Goodwill and other thrift stores in all of the various towns that I find myself working in. I found this old Copal flip number clock in Piqua, Ohio yesterday for $1.99. Works perfectly, I just need to reglue the little pointer for the alarm on. It got broken off but luckily it fell down inside it. They're pretty popular and actually go for a real good price on eBay.
  7. Awesome! I love the angle, looks angry.
  8. Picked this up at Ollie's a while back just because it was cheap, I wasn't overly excited about it but then I got some really sparkly metallic Turbo Dork paint and immediately wanted to use it on the roof of something so, here we are. What I know for sure; gloss black, metallic roof and matching metallic dash, this stance but maybe a little lower in the back or higher up front and maybe some other wheels. The metallic paint color is affected heavily by the base and on the spoon sample I have there (which is sloppy and has no clear) the base is black so on the car I think I'm going to put it on a lighter base and get more of a silver metallic than the kind of gold that that looks like. Gonna use the flathead that came with it, it'll be red. Lots of chrome, lots of foil. I usually don't go crazy with interior detail but I'm going to take some time and do the inside nice. I'm really striving to improve with every kit and to take all of the mistakes and things that I learned on the last one and apply it to the next one. I think this is going to turn out really well.
  9. There is a guy on eBay, his store is called The Basement Model shop. He carries a lot of stuff, has great feedback and is based out of Circleville. I order from him quite a bit.
  10. Picked these up in Akron yesterday. Nothing super interesting but I'm a sucker for a deal.
  11. AMT 66 Riviera. I really like this kit. This was my first time using foil. I hated the stock wheels so I copped these from a Corvette kit and made them fit as best as I could. My wife wanted it to be gold , the paint is a Vallejo color shift green but on white primer it does this pearl gold thing. I didn't clear the body and once I did the foil I didn't want everything to have the same sheen so it is what it is now. I did the engine in that color just because I had a 54 Buick with a nailhead years ago and I liked the teal. Exhaust and little detail work and I'm going to call it done. I'm learning and I see a lot of flaws but I feel like every one I do is better than the last.
  12. Such exceptional work! I love that Hudson Industries KW, it's got my vote for this year.
  13. Did some trading this morning, some of my Nascar that I'll never build for big truck stuff including everyone's favorite Kenworth ?.
  14. This pulled in today while I was working at a Hobby Lobby. Factory Hemi, power steering, brakes and windows. I needed to take a break anyway. ?
  15. So, I've only recently (past year or so) really gotten back into building, definitely a beginner. I was accumulating kits as a result of buying and selling auction stuff, which lead to building, which lead to an airbrush, which lead to...well, the rabbit hole goes deep...The Riviera is one of the first one's I got a while back and I've just now decided to start it. The General is one I got uber cheap missing decals and was just going to do it black. Here's my question, the Riviera seems like a very nice kit, heavy, detailed, low on flash and mold lines. The General is a horror show, literally so bad that I gave up. Going by dates on the box, Buick is 2000, General is 2007. Is there really that much of a quality difference in such a short time? Are there different grades of kits within a company? Are newer kits just something to avoid? I just built the Big Game Chevy that I bought at Hobby Lobby and it kinda sucked. What sort of wisdom can you guys impart on me here?
  16. I'm an automatic door technician and we happen to service Ollie's stores. I've spent the better part of 10 years buying auction lots and reselling things, it hilarious to search anything they sell. If you want to play the long game you might make $5 or $10. I always walk any store I work at and maybe buy a couple because as far as I see a kit for $10 or less is probably worth it. The big hot rod kits are a moneymaker but you have to get in before market saturation which is long gone or wait and sell them months from now. Facebook marketplace around here is loaded with kits people bought thinking they'd make money and they just keep marking them down.
  17. Just wanted the '65 but I can't pass up a good price on a lot...If anyone is a Corvette fan, I've got more than I want.
  18. That's a 55 from the AMT stepside street machine kit.
  19. Being that I finally had a couple days off I wanted to do a real quick, low detail build. Just a day or so, something to look at and smile. I thought a safari Zebra paint job with tan interior would be cool. It's turning out ok, gonna need some touchups to make it look decent. Once the trim is done, it's cleared and dirtied up a little I think it'll look nice. I'm still very much trying to get the hang of using an airbrush. I love the look of this kit, I think I'm going to buy another and put a 55 Stepside Street Machine body on it...maybe. There's a lot of possibilities for some ridiculous things using that chassis.
  20. Got these over the weekend. I'm pretty excited about the Indy car stuff. The 1987 500 was the first race I ever saw and as a kid I loved the Corvette pace car. At the time my brother and I refered to them as the A-Team car. In 88 at the 500 qualifying I met Danny Sullivan, who drove the Miller car so of course he was my favorite for a while. Those are gonna be fun to build.
  21. I shoot, throw, bat, write, all left handed. Even my drumset setup is this weird left handed mess. Play guitar right handed ?‍♂️. Can't even comprehend trying to play left. My buddy plays left handed and it sucks for him. You go into a guitar store around here and it's 99% right handed stuff. I have the whole store to choose from, he has like 2 or 3.
  22. I literally just noticed the hardtop is included in the one I have...
  23. There are, but none of them are the convertible with the 4 figures included. I checked Worth point though and the last one went for $20 buy it now in January. I'll throw it in with the ones I have to trade and if all else fails I'll list it on eBay. Honestly, I got my money's worth out of everything else I bought so it really doesn't matter.
