  1. Thank you. Even if it is in that traitorous livery.
  2. Thank you sir. I am honored to be among so many great builders.
  3. So I have come to accept that I am obsessed with Days of Thunder. Mainly with the cars since we all saw the plot played out with F-14's a few years earlier. Since I was a kid I have always wondered what the cars from the movie would be like if from other series. Here is my take on what the Mello Yello car would have been like if it were a TA Camaro. This one was a lot of fun being something different and seeing it come to life. I even thought up a back story that Cole kept racing for Rowdy and go tired of being beaten on the road courses so he went and rented somebodies TA car (Hence the blue chassis/cage) and MY stayed with him. Anyway enough of my gabbing. Revell kit, Ironlak paint for the chassis, Tamiya paint everywhere else and Patto's decals and I can't remember where the figure came from.
  4. Sorry, I put this in the wrong place. Could a moderator help me and put it over in the NASCAR thread please. Forgive me I am new to this forum thing.
  5. This was a bit of a personal vendetta for me. I originally [built] this car as my first non days of thunder stock car. When glue came exclusively in a tube, eyeballing the masking and decals that made the car a pretty realistic representation for what the real ones looked like for Kyle by the end of a lot of his races in those days. I wish that original car was still around to compare each it to this one. Anyway enough of my gabbing.
  6. This was a quick build using all acrylics (Ironlak from Hobby Lobby. The decals were a bit of an issue being 20+ year old after market markings. AS with all of my builds, this one is fine for sitting on a shelf and looking at from a distance, with squinted eyes, in the dark.

Thank you sir. It is funny I am not a huge DW fan, but it seems that I have more of his stuff in the wings than anybody else. I too liked the cleaner version of this car over the later. I am currently building Ricky's car from the 93 Phoenix race for my dad and it is a more involved endeavor.
  8. Thank you sir. I caught your introduction prior to signing up and may I say that I am impressed with your builds sir.
  9. Hello and thank you. Guess the time would depend on which way you were heading on the 60/101/202 or surface streets at which time of the day. Luckily I get to avoid all of that 90% of the time.
  10. Thank you. I have lurked here for awhile and must admit this forum has helped pull me back into building and I am glad it did.
  11. Thank you.
  12. Prescott is one of my favorite places in AZ. I lived there as a child. Even at race speed there is still the perpetual yellow flag of the valley that kills everyone's lap time.
  13. Hello and thank you, Yours is one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

This is one of only 2 models that have survived since taking a hiatus from the hobby about 10 years ago. I would change some things if I had it to do over, but I wont tear it down and rebuild it, so it can sit on a shelf and look pretty from afar. I used the Monte Carlo kit decals and an after market DOT spare sheet.
  15. Hello all; Just wanted to introduce myself and join the excitement here. I started building models (eww those early glue bombs) as a teen after watching Days of Thunder and kept going until about 10 years ago when I took a break until 2019. I got back into the hobby to destress and take my mind off of the things I encounter in my professional life. In short I work, I sleep and I either build or teach shooting/shoot when I am not working or sleeping, so if I am slow to respond to you or miss you all together, please don't take it personally. Finally, I was born with a race car in the driveway and have been around them ever since. So until 3 years ago when the pro 2 off road team I worked on folded I have been covered in dirt, fuel and lubricants all of the time. Point is race cars are pretty much my exclusive domain. Here was the last car I built prior to going on hiatus.
