Well, after searching the internet, I have found one picture I can use as a reference. Picked up the white-freightshaker kit today. Gonna attempt to replicate a truck driven by a friend from a long time ago as a sort of memorial to him...( He passed away a few months ago.) Gotta add a middle window to the rear of the day cab. Gonna see if my decal maker can manage some door decals for me. Many pics to come...wish me luck

It wasn't too bad to swap out. Needed to fab a couple motor mounts and get them in place so as to allow the pack to sit level. Overall, pretty easy.

I know from my time driving that MOST frames were generally black. Some came out in other colors as specified by the customer. And sometimes, if the manufacturer just had it laying around, that's what they would use. One company I drove for had white trucks with red frames. (A mix of volvos, freightliners and a few macks)

Nashville? Cool...I really miss the days when we had model shops. Not a place with every hobby imaginable, but a shop with nothing but models and model related things.

All paint is testors enamel.Just the $1.99 a bottle stuff from hobby lobby. Around this area (west central Indiana) there aren't any real hobby shops to speak of anymore)

I blended up some gloss white with a little bit of cream. Provides just enough of an off white to keep it from being too bright. Thanks for all the feedback. Always like to hear different opinions before I commit.

Thanks. The color is actually made from testors gloss red with a few drops of testors copper added. Then throw it on the shaker to mix well.

Great looking muscle cars. I have that same Chevelle on my shelf. Built it about 28 years ago. Shot it with Boyd true blue pearl. It's always been one of my favorites.

So, after spending most of the past year building semis, I decided to slow up a little. Gonna build the Revell 57 Chevy 150 utility. Not one to be happy with traditional colors, I opted to mix my own. It layed down pretty nice. Gonna add the white to the rear area after some adequate cure time. Just curious about some feedback on my primary color. I call it copper-jacketed. Thanks

Well, I'm calling it done. Still waiting on my door decals to be made, but structurally, I'm done. At the last minute, I decided to split the hood and added the chain across the front hooks. I appreciate the feedback from everyone. Gonna take a day or two off, clean the bench and decide what to do next....

I started using the future polish after several fails with the testors clear resulted in having to completely start over. (Shot through an airbrush, as I've done for a couple decades). As stated, it self levels, is safe for indoor use and cleans up with water. The results are amazing. Deep shine, smooth finish. I'll never use the testors stuff again. Had to get mine off Amazon, but the price was around $5. And it can be easily buffed/polished with a soft microfiber cloth to enhance the shine. Try it....you'll love it.

Just a little progress made recently. Decided to add some caution stripes to the front bumper. Went with orange for the grill bar.

Well, so far, so good. Not anywhere near finished, but getting there. The paint, I did as a kind of tribute to my late dad. ( He was a Milwaukee Road engineer). Decided to add a bit of wear and tear to it in places. Still have lots to do before I'm happy with it, bit I think it's working so far.

Yep....I saw those, and I did manage to locate a bad pic of one of the trucks I vaguely remember. But is enough to give me a good idea of truck type and colors.

Ok. Going out on a limb here. Back in 76-77, my mom dated a guy in central Ohio who was a truck driver. He drove for a company called the Chief Freightline Co. I remember the company name was a red scroll on the doors and down the trailers. But beyond that, I don't remember a lot. Any chance someone out here might be old enough to remember the type of trucks they ran? I've found very little on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those are leftovers from the white freightliner SD/DD kit from Amt. I just got lucky that they were fairly close to what I was needing

Update: settled on a color scheme....custom mixed orange(slight metal flake) and black....kinda a harley-ish theme to it. Frame is assembled and painted(flat black) and my daughter is gonna cut me some special vinyl decals for the doors. Engine is painted alpine green. Now, to make it all work....

The new project: Autocar dump truck. Since I stole the Cummins to use in another truck, that trucks engine, a Detroit V8, is gonna get stuffed into the Autocar. I realize they probably didn't actually make too many like that, but, that's the fun of modeling. What do ya think? Tight fit?

Yeah, I built it when I was about 14 ( way too many years ago) and I still have nightmares about building that suspension.
